Downfall of Dunbar

Ashlyn's POV

For the first time in my newly miserable life, relief washed over me when I saw Lucifer standing at the entrance door.

I was shocked to see two hearts beside him and then the ringing of the bells outside and the screams made me realize they had succeeded in getting into the strongholds of Dunbar and it reminded me of when my town was taken too.

The warlord king stared at me, his eyes slowly darkening. "You brought this upon me? I should have known a woman would be my downfall one day." He said and reached into his waist.

I swallowed. He was about to kill me!

Just as Lucifer read his intention, he fired another arrow, hitting him right on his leg. He groaned in pain and his guards started trooping in and they all charged at Lucifer.

I expected him to transform but he did not. Instead, his eyes were pure golden and without much effort, he took the guards down.

In swiftness, he snapped off necks, and heads pulled out hearts, ripped off body parts, plucked out eyes, and all these he did with just his hands that had turned out claws and more warlords trooped into battle with him.

I was horrified by the gruesome sight before me and before I knew it I was dragged off by the warlord king who had broken off the arrow that pierced his leg.

"You were inited on this with him right? You were a disguise, a ploy sent to lure in the Lycans and I trusted you." He said embittered by this betrayal from a stranger.

"I was only following orders. I have no choice in this matter." I said to him in a choked voice. He held my neck in a tight grasp as he pulled me roughly down the hall and into a secret passageway.

"If today be my last day on earth, I must have a taste of your luscious fruit." He said dragging me away.

I was terrified. Here he was, a king who was supposed to be out there fighting for his people, his home, and he was trying to lay down with a woman.

He pushed me roughly into a secret room and onto a mattress and for a girl who was used to being laid by a man against her will, I was scared. Put yourself together Ash. When he comes closer to you, all you have to do is kick him hard in between. I told myself as I braced up for the worst.

I never knew this man before I was fetish as he took a horsewhip from a corner to make me submissive. A horsewhip that had spikes on them. I muffled the scream that threatened to surface.

Just one lash will leave an unbearable pain in one's body and a scar that would never heal.

What pleasure does he get from the sight of blood flowing and one moaning in agony?

"Please." I found my voice saying. A vampire was pleading with a warlord? Someone, she can easily sink her teeth in and rid him of the air he breathes?

But I was not that vampire, unfortunately. I was weakling. A nonentity to my father. I was a nobody as long as I could not draw blood.

His hands began touching me in quick and impatient caresses and I whimpered. I whimpered at the fact that I could do nothing to this man. I could not even summon the courage and kick him hard in between. I had a shrewish tongue but not the heart of violence.

He turned me roughly around with the horsewhip in his hand as he made me stay arse up, face down before him.

He lifted the horsewhip and was about to strike my bare behind at the same time he was going to thrust in when an arrow flew in and pierced his hand. "I wouldn't do that if I were you." The low condescending voice that underlay anger said.

The warlord king yelled out in pain and staggered back from the bed and with water in my eyes, I saw Lucifer standing before us.

"Get up." He ordered me in an irritating voice. I did not need anyone to tell me that twice, I obeyed and scrambled off the bed.

Lucifer walked up to the warlord king and dealt him a hefty jaw-breaking blow and blood spluttered from his mouth along with two of his front teeth. He staggered to the wall and fell.

"I thought you to be a brave and strong-hearted warlord but you turned out to be a pussy. Nothing but a scallywag." Lucifer spat out.

"It isn't wrong to want a woman, but not when there is a war and your men are out there fighting for their lives and your pathetic one," Lucifer said again and began pulling a sharp knife from his boot.

"You deserve a punishment for that warlord king," he said and I wondered what punishment he wanted to administer to this man. Knowing who Lucifer was, it was going to be a cruel one.

"You deserve not to have a bone whenever you see a woman." He said and I stared at him confused and before I knew it, Lucifer had his phallus cut off.

I closed my mouth with my hands in horror as I looked away almost gagging. I wanted to do badly scream but I could not. It was like I was restricted from it. What kind of heart did this man before me named Lucifer bore? He had no heart. No heart at all.

The warlord king screams echoed through the walls. "And if you do die from this, I'm glad I gave you an agonizing death." I heard him say and then a strong hand clasped around mine and pulled me out of the room. It was Lucifer.

From his strides, he was furious and when we finally got outside, I saw Ripper transforming into his Lycan form and ripping off heads like they meant nothing to him. I was shocked at how such a nice man could also be this brutal.

I saw why he was called Ripper.

The Lycans had taken over the town including the ones that were outside. Lucifer joined his comrades in the fight and he was the only one that did not transform as he swung his swords in rotation before thrusting them into any warlords he came in contact with.

I watched as men and women were slain. I watched as children were dashed to the ground without pity or sympathy. I was horrified by it all and I stood in the midst of it having a guilty conscience that I had let this happen.

The cries of women and children echoed through the forest and the men who fought valiantly for their land were slaughtered like animals.

I saw some of the Lycans taking the spoils of the city. The gold truck they took back tripled what they had brought. They took the best of the fattened animals and the women they considered pretty enough to bed or wed.

While I was looking, suddenly I was grabbed out of nowhere by one of the warlords I let out a scream, and almost immediately, a knife flew over and struck him on the head and he dropped down dead. I turned to look at who killed him and I saw Lucifer who stared at me and then looked away as one of his comrades handed over to him a lit torch the hays were set on fire and the flames began to lick the hays and every wood around it. The Lycans were setting everywhere on fire. Burning the town and rendering the people to dust.

In my bid to escape the flames that were creeping towards me and was beginning to burn my skin, I fell and my dress was caught in between a barrow, its sharp edge hooking my dress I was terrified as the fire came closer. Was this how I was going to die? Die without having to know what it feels like to be wanted or loved.

As soon as I was able to unhook my dress from where it was stuck, Lucifer came towards me and carried me up and ran with speed out of the town and he placed me on the soft grass far away from fire as it spread out, even to the gates of Dunbar.

And when all the Lycans were out of the town with their spoils, I watched as the walls of Dunbar fell flat and the city turned into smoldering ashes. The mighty city of Dunbar that had been made what it is under the stolen lands of the Lycans was now nothing but dust.
