Chap 64: Desperate Measures - Part2
Dylan suddenly held Aiden's arms in a tight grip and screamed, " How do you know about Nat?"
" So it is about her?"
" Tell me, what do you know?"
Aiden just stared at Dylan, looking disgusted.
Dylan felt tensed looking at Aiden's expression. " It's not what you think. You shouldn't be worried about it."
" Why would I be worried?" Aiden asked. " Actually, I am relieved."
" What do you mean?" Dylan asked, confused.
" Now that Natalie knows about us, don't you think you should stop all this?"
" Stop what?"
" Stop this madness and let me go," Aiden spat.
" And why would I do that?" Dylan seethed.
" Come on, Dylan. You were supposed to get married."
" What has that got to do with you? It's my personal matter."
" Then what am I doing here?"
" You are here because I love you."
Aiden almost pulled out his hair in frustration. How much ever he tried to talk it out with Dylan, he never seemed to understand. He pushed Dylan away and screamed, " Do you know how absurd you sound right now?"
" What is absurd about it?" Dylan said with a blank face.
" I don't want to be a part of this. I am leaving," Aiden turned toward the door, but Dylan stopped him by grabbing Aiden by his waist and pushing him toward the wall. He towered over Aiden and punched the wall in anger. " Leave... leave... leave... That's all you talk about. Why do you always want to leave?"
Aiden flinched at Dylan's tone and looked at him fearfully, expecting to be hit any moment now.
Dylan backed away from Aiden and pressed his fingers on his temple, trying to calm himself. He looked at Aiden with a pained expression. "Do you want to go back to that boyfriend of yours? I met you before him. We were meant to be together, but he had to come in between us."
" Don't talk as if you were my boyfriend." Aiden seethed. " You are the one who has stepped in between Noah and me, and it's high time you realize that."
Aiden was anticipating an outburst from Dylan, but what he saw he had never expected to see in his entire lifetime. Instead of retorting, Dylan stood there with tears in his eyes. He looked at Aiden with so much pain that Aiden was dumbfounded, not knowing how to react.
Dylan slumped on the chair and covered his face with his hands. This was something that Aiden was not used to witnessing, and he approached Dylan and reluctantly asked, "Are you... Are you crying?"
Dylan raised his head and stared at Aiden. His eyes were bloodshot, still filled with tears, and he was looking at Aiden as if he had taken away his soul. " I don't know what else to do."
Aiden looked at him, confused, while Dylan continued. " D-Do you know you are the only person who makes me nervous?"
" Are you kidding me?" Aiden almost laughed at the absurdity. His all-time bully was saying that he made him nervous.
" I am serious, Aiden. I am always nervous because I am scared of losing you. All you talk about is leaving me, even though I am doing everything I can to keep you here with me. Why do you hate me so much?"
" I do not hate you, Dylan," Aiden said, exhausted.
" I don't think so. " Dylan said with a sad expression wiping his tears. " You only care for that boyfriend of yours. I got you out of that awful orphanage and gave you a good life, and I am still willing to provide you with everything, but you continue to hate me. "
"It's not like that, Dylan. Regardless of the dynamics between us, I cannot ignore the fact that you were the first person to acknowledge my existence, and for that reason, I will never hate you. If not for you, my life would have taken a different turn, probably for the worse."
" Then do you love me?" Feeling hopeful, Dylan suddenly got up from the chair, holding Aiden by his arms.
" I do not hate you doesn't mean I love you."
" You must be confused..." Dylan said, thinking about something. " We have been apart for too long. My parents separated us, so other people have influenced you. If we are together, you will learn to love me."
" What nonsense are you spouting?" Aiden said, exasperated. " Love is not something we can learn; it's a feeling which needs to develop mutually."
" The feelings can develop if we are together."
" You are talking so much about love, but are you sure you love me?"
" Do you still doubt my love for you?"
" Obviously, I do."
" Why?" Dylan looked shocked.
" Are you even asking me that? You are planning to marry someone else yet claim to love me. Above all, if you really loved me, you wouldn't have forced me to do anything."
Dylan held Aiden's hands lovingly, saying, " I do not love Nat; I only love you. Also, this is a marriage of convenience. It's necessary so that you and I can live peacefully without being judged by anyone."
" This isn't fair to Natalie. You are a selfish person who thinks only about himself, disregarding others' feelings," Aiden spat, jerking his hands away from Dylan.
" Then can I get married to you? Do you know how humiliating it would be for us to face this society? Our lives will be ruined."
" That's what I am trying to tell you. You prefer to keep it a secret where as I have no qualms about revealing my sexuality. Why do you want to complicate everything?"
" Why is it important to tell everyone? This is my private matter, so why should I broadcast who I am in love with?" Dylan reasoned. " There are so many gay couples in this World who hide their relationship. Are they not happy? Why can't we be like that?"
" There is nothing right or wrong in these situations. It's all their personal preferences. If we were really in a relationship, then it wouldn't have mattered to me, but the fact here is that I am not in love with you, so what's the point of even discussing this?"
" Will you accept me if I tell everyone I am in love with you?"
" You are still not getting it, Dylan. I have no right to force you to do anything. And why would you do it when I do not reciprocate your feelings? I love someone else."
" Stop saying that. Although I'm trying to control myself, you're making it hard for me."
" I am trying to give you the reality check, so you don't keep your hopes high."
" I don't give a sh*t. I will eliminate anyone who tries to come in my way."
" I am in your way, so tell me, what will you do about it?" Aiden said, being adamant. He was going all out as he had already realized he wouldn't achieve anything by being scared and silent.
" I am confident I can make you love me. We just need to stick to each other."
" It's impossible. Get that through that thick skull of yours," Aiden sneered.
" Would you still be so bold if I get rid of that so-called boyfriend of yours?"
" Try to do that and see what I will do," Aiden said confidently. " I will fight you even if I die in the process."
" You think I will let you die?"
" Why don't you understand you cannot force anyone to love you? Often forced relationships have disastrous consequences, so please stop before this goes out of control, or else you will have nothing to do but repent."
" I don't want to force you, Aiden. If I wanted to, I would have claimed you long ago, and you could not have stopped me. Why do you always think negatively about me?"
" Then why are you locking me up here?"
" There are so many people out there who want to separate us. I can't let that happen," Dylan said, thinking about Natalie and his parents.
"What?" Aiden was appalled.
" My mom might try to do something to get you away from me. If I lose you again, I don't know what I will do."
" That's not the reason to be locked up here."
" I think it is reason enough."
" You can't lock me up, Dylan. It's criminal."
" As if I care."
" Stop it damn it. Stop with your craziness, and let us all live in peace."
" If you want me to stop, then be with me willingly. Say you love me."
" Go to hell," Aiden snapped irritatingly.
" Mind your tongue," Dylan growled in anger.
Aiden didn't reply and made a run for the door.
" You are not going anywhere," Dylan snarled, catching up to Aiden and dragging him toward his room. As soon as he reached the room, he pushed Aiden onto the bed and said, " Behave yourself, or I wouldn't hesitate to tie you up."
" Please, Dylan..."
" Nothing you say is going to change my mind," Dylan said, preparing to leave. " I will fetch you for dinner," he said and locked the door behind him.
