Chap 65: Desperate Measures - Part3
The following morning, Dylan left, leaving Aiden locked up at home. He wanted to work from home but was forced to go as he had to meet an important client. As soon as he left, Aiden searched the entire house looking for a way to escape. He tried all the doors and windows, but everything was locked. Dylan watched his home camera feed on his phone and angrily clenched his teeth. Though he was sure Aiden wouldn't be able to escape, he didn't like his desperate attempts to stay away from Dylan.
" Drive faster," Dylan instructed the driver as he could soon finish his work and return to Aiden. All his plans had gotten complicated, and he soon had to find a solution for everything.
Meanwhile, Dylan's mother had met Natalie and tried to give a reasonable explanation blaming everything on Aiden. Natalie, who had seen everything with her eyes, thoroughly denied it, saying she was involved with Dylan and he was still cheating on her.
" Can you give my son a second chance? " Mrs. Hunt said in an imposing tone.
" Does Dylan need a second chance?" Natalie replied, scrunching her brows. " I spoke to him, and I think he is unwilling to part with Aiden."
" Impossible," Mrs. Hunt said hurriedly. " This is a huge misunderstanding. Dylan would never like that wretched boy."
" I know everything, Mrs. Hunt. I suggest you first speak with Dylan about it."
" I spoke to him, Dear. It seems he only wants to marry you," Mrs. Hunt chirped.
" Of course, he wants to," Nat said sarcastically, thinking about Dylan using her as a tool.
" Don't worry about Aiden. I will take care of him," Mrs. Hunt added.
" Are you planning to hurt him?" Natalie asked in concern.
" No, dear, why would I hurt him?" Mrs. Hunt said with a fake smile." I will just make sure he doesn't meddle with Dylan again."
" I hope you don't harm him."
" Don't worry about it. I simply request you not to give up on Dylan," Mrs. Hunt almost begged.
" Don't be like this, Mrs. Hunt," Natalie said, flustered by how the old lady looked at her pleadingly.
" Please, dear, I beg you." Mrs. Hunt tried to manipulate Nat emotionally, wanting her to be her daughter-in-law at any cost. She couldn't let that orphan boy tarnish her family name.
" Fine...!" Natalie said, unsure why she agreed so easily. " But please talk to Dylan."
" Thank you so much, Natalie," Mrs. Hunt said, relieved. " I promise you everything will be alright soon." She then got up, left toward her car, and drove straight to Dylan's home. She had already enquired that Dylan was not at his office, so she thought he must still be home.
After reaching the penthouse, Mrs. Hunt entered by punching the code on the door. When she saw Aiden inside the house, she lost it.
" What the f**k are you doing at my son's house?"
Aiden was scared as well as dumbstruck suddenly seeing Mrs. Hunt at the penthouse.
" How dare you? Didn't I warn you to stay away from Dylan?"
" I-I..." Aiden stuttered.
" Why are you here? Actually... now that I found you, I should settle things once and for all. Come here, boy," Mrs. Hunt instructed, pointing her finger at Aiden.
Aiden stood still as a statue seeing Mrs. Hunt's expression, which was full of hatred toward him, and he also knew very well what she wanted to say to him.
Seeing no movement from Aiden's end, Mrs. Hunt was irritated. " Will you come here? And where's Dylan?"
" H-He's not at h-home."
" That's better," Mrs. Hunt smiled wickedly and urged the boy to sit down.
Aiden reluctantly sat on the chair in front of Mrs. Hunt.
" So, what are you doing here at Dylan's house?"
" He asked me to stay with him."
" And you agreed? Don't you have any self-respect?" Mrs. Hunt said disgustingly. " How long are you planning to leech off on our money?"
Aiden felt sad and offended. " I don't want to stay here. If I could, I would have already left," he said defensively. Even though he feared Mrs. Hunt, he couldn't sit quietly when she wrongly accused him.
" Ahh... So even you have learned to talk. Is it because of my son's support? Don't get too ahead of yourself, boy. I am Dylan's mother and am still capable of getting rid of you."
" Mam... As I already said, I don't want..."
" I don't want to hear your lame excuses. Tell me how much money you want to get away from my son. Take it and get out of his house and office. Leave this city as well as this country if need be. "
" Mam... I don't need your money, nor do I wish to stay here."
" Then why are you here? You would have left at my first warning if you had even an ounce of shame. "
" I want to leave, but Dylan..."
" Don't take my son's name from your filthy mouth. He's your Boss, not your friend," Mrs. Hunt spat angrily. She didn't like the fact that this boy was addressing her son by his first name. She had made a huge mistake by underestimating the orphan boy.
Aiden suddenly stood up from the chair at Mrs. Hunt's reaction. It reminded him of his younger days when she used to beat him up.
" You got some nerve, boy. You behave like an innocent victim in front of me, blaming everything on my son but secretly, even you don't want to leave this life of luxury. Is this how you repay us for getting you out of that dump? How dare you try to destroy Dylan's life."
" Mam..."
" Get out," Mrs. Hunt screamed at the top of her voice. " Get out from here this instant."
Aiden didn't hesitate even for a second. The main door was wide open before him, and he couldn't let this chance go. He dashed toward the door and was soon out of the house.
As soon as Aiden had left, Mrs. Hunt took out her phone and dialed a number. " I have a job for you," she said and explained in detail.
Dylan was having a meeting with his client and seemed disinterested. How much ever he tried, he couldn't concentrate.
" Is there a problem, Mr. Hunt?" the client asked, surprised. He had never seen him so distracted. Whenever Mr. Hunt was present, he owned the room, but today he hardly said anything and let his secretary do the talking.
" Nothing's wrong," Dylan said casually, fighting the urge to look at his phone. He was dying to check his camera feed again but didn't do it to avoid looking rude.
" You seem different today."
" It's just work stress, Mr. Clinton," Dylan said with a fake smile. He wanted the meeting to end soon so he could return to his Aiden as quickly as possible. His secretary was discussing the financial terms with the staff, and Dylan glared at her as if indicating to her to finish it soon.
The secretary gulped and said to the staff in a hurry. " If everything is fine, we should just proceed with the contract."
" Yeah, all the terms are satisfactory," the staff person responded and looked at his Boss, Mr. Clinton, signifying he had thoroughly read the contract.
" So...do we have the deal?" Dylan asked impatiently.
" Of course, Mr. Hunt. I would never doubt your abilities," Mr. Clinton said, feeling satisfied.
Dylan then hurriedly signed the deal and got out of there. Once he was out, he immediately checked his phone and stopped in his tracks. His eyes were wide as saucers when he spotted his mother at the penthouse.
Without wasting a second more, he sprinted toward his car and asked the driver to drive home fast.
While on the road, he continuously observed his phone and got tensed by every second. He noticed his mother getting angry at Aiden and swore, " Why the hell is she in my house? I should have changed the damn code."
Dylan then saw Aiden running out of the house and wanted to pull out his hair in frustration. He immediately checked Aiden's phone location, but unfortunately, it still showed his penthouse, meaning Aiden had not taken his phone with him.
" F**k," Dylan cursed. " How do I find him now?"
On the other hand, Aiden was on the streets, trying to get far away from the penthouse. After running for a while, he paused to catch his breath. He was in front of a park and decided to rest there for a bit. Once he calmed down, he began thinking about what to do next. He had his secret phone with him, and his first thought was to call Noah, but he immediately dropped that idea as he knew Dylan would definitely check with Noah first.
I have to hide for a while. Aiden thought to himself, but where could he go? He had no family except for Noah. He racked his brains and remembered Noah's college friends, Rob and Jay. Right now, they were his best option, as Dylan didn't know about them. Also, once he was there, he could call Noah and inform him.
As Aiden was using Noah's phone, he guessed he would surely have Rob and Jay's numbers. He took out his phone to look for their number when he noticed he was surrounded by a few scary-looking men.
" M-May I help you?" Aiden stuttered when he noticed they were staring at him intensely.
" Yes, you surely can," one of them chuckled.
