Chap 66: Desperate Measures - Part4
" W-Who a-are you all?" Aiden stuttered, backing away. He glanced at his surroundings and noticed it was deserted except for him and these dangerous-looking people.
" We are here for you."
" W-What? W-Why?"
" We were ordered to teach you a lesson."
" W-What do you m-mean?" Aiden asked in fear and confusion.
" You have angered some big people."
" I-I do not u-understand..." Aiden looked around for a way to escape. The sun had already set, and these people screamed trouble. As he was about to run, he was stopped by one of the men from behind.
" Where do you think you are going?" The goon violently held Aiden by his arm, stopping him from escaping.
" W-What do you want f-from me?" Aiden couldn't understand what he had done to anger these men whom he was seeing for the first time in his life.
" We were told that you do not listen to anyone."
" W-Who did I not listen t-to?" Aiden was really confused now. Who were they talking about?
" Mrs. Diana Hunt. She hired us to warn you."
Aiden was shocked though he should have expected nothing less from his adoptive mother as he had been experiencing her abuse since he was 10.
Aiden's thoughts were suddenly interrupted when he felt a hard punch on his face. He stumbled on the floor in pain, holding his cheek. The pain was so intense that he saw stars for a few moments.
" W-Why did you h-hit m-me..." Aiden stuttered while withering on the ground.
" So that you could clearly get the message through your head," another man said, kicking Aiden on his stomach.
" I-I d-didn't do anything w-wrong."
" If that were the case, we wouldn't be hired." The goons chuckled at Aiden's plight, hitting and mocking him in the process.
"P-Please S-Stop... W-What d-do you w-want?"
" Come on now... Get up." The goons stopped hitting Aiden, and one of them bent down, pulled him up by his arm, and started dragging him out of the park forcefully.
" W-Where are you t-taking me?" Aiden cried out and tried his best to get out of their grip.
" Stop fidgeting and come with us quietly."
" N-No... L-Leave me." When Aiden failed to escape their hold, he desperately bit the goon on his arm. The goon yelped in pain and loosened his hold. Aiden took the opportunity to run away from the goons in the opposite direction. He didn't see where he was going, as right now, his priority was to get away from them.
While blindly running in the park, Aiden suddenly collided with someone's chest.
" What the f**k happened to your face?"
Aiden suddenly looked up, reacting to the familiar voice. Even though he was running away from Dylan, he was relieved to see him now. The goons had caught up to him, and Dylan looked at them skeptically.
" The hell is going on here?" Dylan asked, looking from Aiden to the group of dangerous-looking men. The men scowled at Aiden, and Dylan instinctively stood before him, shielding him from them.
" Who the f**k are you? What do you want?" Dylan spat at the men.
" We don't have anything to do with you. Hand over that guy and leave if you know what's best for you," one of the goons replied.
" What do you want with him?"
" That's none of your business."
" His business is my business," Dylan said, pointing at Aiden.
" Ohhhhh....!!! " the men cooed and chuckled at Dylan. " Is he your boyfriend?"
" Are we dealing with homos?" another one mocked.
Dylan clenched his fist at their words, but as there were four men, he decided against starting a fight. " Let's leave from here," he said, holding Aiden's wrist and turning around.
" You can leave, but this guy is coming with us," one of the men said, holding Aiden's other arm.
Dylan glared at the thug holding Aiden's arm and said calmly, " Let go of his hand."
" You should let go, not me."
" I am warning you for the last time... let go of his hand," Dylan threatened.
" Or else?" The man chuckled, ridiculing Dylan's attempt at acting strong. In the midst of laughing, he didn't expect the attack.
Dylan violently grabbed his arm, turned it behind his back, and kicked him onto the ground.
The men gaped with open mouths at the rich-looking guy in a suit who kicked their friend without even breaking a sweat.
" You..." one of the men charged at Dylan, but the next second he fell on top of his friend after receiving a punch in his face.
" Get hold of that guy and put him in the van; I will tackle this one," the gang leader ordered one of his cronies and dashed toward Dylan, but Dylan was ready for him. He dodged a punch and hit the leader on his stomach, sending him flying across the park.
The gang leader groaned in pain while his men approached him with a look of worry and fear. They hadn't expected classy looking guy would be able to land such strong punches.
" W-Who the f-f**k are you?" the gang leader blurted out in pain. He and the other gang members were now skeptical about approaching Dylan for a fight.
" Forget about who I am. I want to know why you are looking for him," Dylan roared, pointing at Aiden.
" W-Why should we tell you?"
" Fine!!! You can tell the cops then," Dylan said, taking out his phone.
" Y-You think you can scare us," the leader said, trying to act strong though he almost pissed his pants at the mention of cops.
" Although I am enough to set you guys straight, currently, I don't have time to waste on you," Dylan said, looking bored. " I am on a direct call basis with the cops, so that would be easier. I already sent a message, so they should be here within 5 minutes."
" What?!!" The thugs were nervous, and their first instinct was to escape the scene. As they all dashed toward their car, Dylan immediately stopped the gang leader by grabbing his shirt from behind. " You can't leave before answering my question."
" But the cops...."
" Then don't waste time and tell me why you were after him."
" We...We were hired to threaten him."
" Who hired you? And for what?" Dylan asked, gritting his teeth.
" What's the point of knowing it? Do you know this guy?" the leader asked, glancing from Dylan to Aiden.
" Answer the damn question," Dylan roared, scaring the gang leader.
" Please tell him, boss, so we can escape from here," one of his lackeys begged.
" Mrs. Hunt..."
" That woman..." Dylan muttered under his breath. " She just can't stay away from my Business." Aiden signed at that. He always knew Mrs. Hunt hated him, but this took her hatred to a new level.
" What did she tell you to do?" Dylan enquired.
" She ordered us to take him away from here."
" Where to?"
" Anywhere... Just away from this city. Now that we have told you everything, can we leave?" the gang leader asked, looking around, hoping the police hadn't arrived.
" Fine..." Dylan said, pushing the guy away from him. " And I warn you, don't you ever come near him again." He said, looking at Aiden.
" Of-Of course. We wouldn't dare to."
" Now scram..." Dylan yelled, and the next instant, the thugs were inside their car, driving away from the park.
The silence around the deserted park was chilling as Dylan stared at Aiden without saying anything. Aiden could feel the heat of Dylan's anger and was mentally prepared for his reaction, but surprisingly Dylan hugged him. Aiden stood still as a statue while Dylan hugged him tightly, unwilling to leave.
" What if something happened to you," Dylan said in a raspy voice. He was almost on the verge of tears.
" I-I am fine," Aiden said, shocked to see Dylan like this. Just a few minutes ago, he had seen Dylan looking so fierce in front of the thugs, but right now, he looked vulnerable. Unknowingly, his hand moved to wipe the stray tear that had escaped Dylan's eye. Dylan was surprised at Aiden's gesture and placed his hands over Aiden's palm feeling the warmth.
They stood like that for a few minutes staring at each other, and finally, Dylan said in a calm voice, " Let's get out of here." Before Aiden could reply, he held his arm and practically dragged him toward his car. Dylan unlocked the car door, made Aiden sit on the passenger seat, and put on his seat belt. After that, Dylan sat in the driver's seat, tiredly placing his head on the steering wheel. A thousand things were running through his mind. He hadn't expected his mother to take such an extreme step. She had literally hired goons to attack him. Was she so hellbent on getting rid of Aiden? The possibility of what would have happened to Aiden had he not reached on time made him shudder. He thought of the moment when he was desperately searching for Aiden around. He took the help of his team of hackers to hack into every CCTV camera around his house to track Aiden's whereabouts. While he was thinking about all this, a sudden realization raised his anger to a whole new level.
Dylan raised his head and glared at Aiden. " Why did you try to leave?"
