Private secretary Little Zhao was frightened by Mr. Xia’s reaction as he had always had a rather indifferent reaction regardless of any incidents, even when facing major hurdles.
He had been working alongside Mr. Xia for so long, yet he had never seen him feeling anxious or nervous about anything. Even if Mountain Tai were to collapse, he would remain unfazed as though everything seemed to be within his control. He would have continued to remain indifferent to the changes around him.
Little Zhao was surprised, seeing Xia Anlan lose control for the first time.
‘What kind of a magical photo is that?’
Xia Anlan saw his secretary remain motionless and shouted at him, “Go and handle this, now! Immediately, bring her over here.”
Little Zhao shivered. “Sir, currently…we still don’t know, who is that lady?”
Xia Anlan excitedly reached out his hand. “Phone…”
Little Zhao immediately handed the phone to Xia Anlan.
Xia Anlan’s hands kept on trembling. It took him several tries before he managed to unlock the phone, found the number, and contacted the head of Su Family.
The call got connected quickly. Su Family’s Head has been waiting for his call in the past few days. He felt relieved when he finally received Xia Anlan’s call. He said, “Old Xia, I thought you would be very agitated when you saw the photo. I did not expect you to only contact me after three days, were you not surprised to see the photo?”
“Who is that lady?”
Xia Anlan’s voice sounded very emotional and could barely suppress his hopeful feelings. Like a seed in between the slits of a hard rock that would never germinate and unexpectedly received a drop of rain.
Su Family’s Head paused for a moment and thought that Xia Anlan was indeed feeling very emotional. ‘If that is the case, why did it take him so long to call me?’
He replied straightforwardly, “My nephew, Yue heard from his girlfriend that she is a celebrity called Yan Qingsi. You can search online for more news on her.”
Xia Anlan quickly pulled out a laptop, opened the web browser, and typed ‘Yan Qingsi’ in the search bar. A short while later, a lot of news about Yan Qingsi appeared.
Both her good and bad were shown on screen.
He clicked on the images and his screen was filled with Yan Qingsi’s photos ranging from her movie shoot makeup process, her at the airport, in the studio, and even her private life. Each of her photos was practically the mirror image of her mother in her youth.
Xia Anlan’s fingers trembled as he touched Yan Qingsi’s face on his laptop screen with reddened eyes.
He asked, ” Where is she now?”
“My younger sister brought her to the Su Family as a guest. Coincidentally, she is also currently filming at Su City.”
“Thank you…”
“You’re welcome. My parents felt restless when they noticed that her appearance was too similar to younger Auntie Peiwan. I felt that I should notify you regardless if she is related to your family or not.”
“Thank you!”
Xia Anlan thanked him again.
His first ‘Thank you’ was for Su Family’s Head telling him the news and whereabouts of Yan Qingsi.
His second ‘Thank you’ was for the Su Family informing him about the existence of Yan Qingsi.
The disaster 40 years ago which caused their family to be separated, was still considered an unspeakable taboo until today.
Yan Qingsi’s appearance made Xia Anlan felt that his past 40 years had been meaningless. Her appearance finally brought meaning to his life, regardless of her actual relations with the Xia family.
Xia Anlan turned around after hanging up the phone, his previous emotional temperament reverted back to his usual icy-cold expression. “Why are you only telling me this now?”
