The Chef
Abby nearly toppled over while coming out of the bedroom she slept to get away from Tunde. She checked what she bumped into and to her surprise, she found her normally arrogant, billionaire boyfriend sleeping on the floor with just a blanket for a bed.
'Did he sleep here all night!?' She wondered to herself and felt sorry for him. She woke up to pee hours ago. When she couldn't go back to sleep, she decided to go make something in readiness for breakfast.
Her heart went out to him, seeing him lying on the floor like that. She laid on the floor beside him, studying his handsome face closely. Who was she deceiving when she said she wanted out? She loved this man that has come to be part of her heart and life in the past months.
She loved him so much and knew she could die of heartbreak if he was the one that wanted out of their relationship. She called his name softly several times, to get him to move to the bedroom but it seemed he was too deep in sleep to hear her.
She partly opened the duvet he used in covering himself and slipped in-between, hugging his midriff closely to herself. It's been days since she cuddled up to him like this, she has missed it so much. She missed him so much, she wanted to just hug him and enjoy the moment for a while before going to make breakfast but didn't know when she drifted off to sleep
Tunde woke up and was surprised to find Abby lying in his arms. 'She's not angry with me anymore!?' He asked himself because he never believe she would actually come to him. Whatever her reasons for coming to him were, he was happy about it all the same. Happily, he got up and carefully carried her to his bed.
After he had her settled in bed comfortably. He picked his phone and went downstairs, in order not to disturb her sleep. He needed to ask Mide a favor. When he got downstairs, he dialed Mide's number and waited for some seconds before it was finally answered
The twins were together as usual at Lekan's place. Mide who just finished running on the treadmill was breathless when he picked the call.
[Hey man, what's up].
[Great!... Listen uhmm... I need a favor...]
[Yeah?... What is it about?]
Tunde hoped Lekan was nowhere near Mide. He knew his mischievous brother who was always looking for any opportunities to make fun of him would surely have something to say this time
[Uhmm... Can you teach me how to make pancakes?]
[Uhh!?... You want to learn how to make pancake?] Mide asked with surprise and chuckled [and this early in the morning?]
[Yeah... I want to give my baby breakfast in bed]
[Huh-uh?] Mide was lost for words. Did Hawk just say he wants to give his girl breakfast in bed or was his ears playing tricks on him?
Lekan who just finished lifting the dumbells came up behind Mide
"Who wants to learn to make pancake?"
"Hawk! Can you believe that!?" Mide replied with a surprised look still on his face, putting the phone on speaker mode so Lekan would be able to participate in their conversation
[Hey kid] Lekan said and laughed
Tunde rolled his eyes upward when he heard Lekan's voice. He wondered why his brothers would always want to be with each other when they were not joined by the hips.
[Why bro, didn't you bring some random girl home with you to fuck yesterday night?] He asked sarcastically since he knew Lekan never lacks wisecracks to throw at him.
[No! I'm considering getting a relationship like yours. I always thought we would get married before you but, look at us now. You're the one with the serious relationship while your elder brothers are still fucking random girls... Can you imagine?] Mide finished saying and sighed dramatically
[Yeah right] Tunde replied. What a crazy brother he has
[Yeah right, what? If you could do it, why couldn't I?] Lekan asked
Tunde sighed deeply. [Lekan please shut up, will you! Mide can you make me a detailed video of you making pancake?]
[Dude you're kidding, right? It's fucking six in the morning!...] Mide replied
[Guy, making something that requires knife and fork coordination sounds romantic and all but If you truly want to impress her then it's a no, no... I think the menu should not only be what she enjoys but also what you can easily make, you get?] Lekan said
[Owl's right. You should make something that is hard to screw up like French toast, coleslaw, sandwiches...]
[Yeah she likes coleslaw...] Tunde said sounding excited
[Then what about coleslaw sandwich? That doesn't involve cooking.]
[Sounds great!] Tunde's eyes lit up with excitement. [How do I go about it then?]
[Thank God she's always stocking up your fridge, your ass would have been stuck in a mess again. That that girl is gold!] Lekan interjected dramatically making Mide burst out in laughter
[Yeah, she is, now shut up, I don't have much time left!]
[Yeah... All what you need are some vegetables like shredded cabbage, grated carrots, onions that are finely chopped, sliced boiled eggs, and cubed cucumber. Mix in some mayonnaise and voila! Mixture ready!
Next, get your bread. Carefully, spread one slice with the coleslaw, and place another slice over it. Press firmly to shut it, cut off the crust, then cut diagonally to make it pretty, and breakfast is ready!] Lekan said
[That easy?...]
[Yup, it's that easy] Mide replied
[Thanks man, appreciate.] Tunde said to Mide before addressing Lekan [Thanks fool, for the awesome idea] He laughed and immediately disconnected the phone not giving Lekan the opportunity of a clapback
Abby woke up to find herself on the bed instead of beside Tunde on the floor. She just wanted to sneakily hug him for a while but she fell asleep in his arms instead. She was not even a heavy sleeper so how could she not stir when he brought her to bed.
'Where is he anyway?' She wondered to herself since she couldn't hear any sound of him showering in the bathroom. She thought he might be in the living room downstairs because he usually catches up on whatever sports he missed during the weekdays every Saturday.
After freshening up, she went downstairs to go prepare breakfast. She entered the huge living room and found the TV on but no sign of Tunde.
'Where could he have gone to?' She wondered again 'Maybe he's working out in the gym.' She thought and made her way towards the kitchen to start breakfast.
What she saw when she opened the kitchen door surprised her. She found him, wearing her apron that was obviously too small for him and arranging sandwiches into a plate on the kitchen island. 'Did he make those? He couldn't cook to save his life before so how come? Who thought him how to cook?'
Tunde who was preoccupied with what he was doing didn't hear the kitchen door open. It was when he turned after he was done plating the sandwiches that he saw Abby with an awestruck look on her face
The game face he had on when he was making the sandwiches dissolved into a happy smile
"Babe you're awake... How are you? Hope you slept well?" He kept asking as he walked towards her. He arrived in front of her, held her around the waist, and kissed her lightly on the lips. "Are you good?"
"I'm fine..." Abby answered with a wondering look directed towards the kitchen island. "Are those sandwiches?" She asked like she couldn't still believe what her eyes were looking at
"Yeah... And you just ruined my surprise by waking up five minutes early." He said grumpily
"Surprise?"
"I wanted to give you breakfast in bed. Why did you have to hurry down instead of staying in bed?" He said with a sad face that had his lips curved downwards
Abby laughed and rolled her eyes upward at the look on his face.
"I'm sorry I ruined the chance of me getting breakfast in bed for the first time in my life... But did you order those?"
"Order?... Why are you thinking the worst of me babe? I made them!"
"You made them?" Abby looked at him with mouth agape. "When did you learn to cook?" She asked before walking towards the sandwiches to examine them closely.
"Well if you must know, Mide teach me..."
She saw the chopping board and mixing bowl which was yet to be cleaned and looked at him again with surprise
"Ha! You indeed cooked, what a shocker!" She said and laughed at the hurtful look on his face. "I just hope it tastes as good as it looks," She said again, picking a sandwich from the plate and tentatively taking a small bite.
After chewing, Abby's face broke into a smile "Wao, yum! This is delicious! Very surprising!" She commented, putting the rest of the bread in her mouth.
"Well, aren't you eating? It's really good." She said with another sandwich already in her hand.
Tunde who was still standing where she left him, walked towards her with a satisfactory smile on his face. "I'm glad you love it." He said and pulled up a chair beside her.
After they were done eating, they were both cleaning the utensils he used in cooking when Abby brought up the issues from the previous night.
