First quarrel
Compatibility. Communication. Commitment and Compromise are the most important four C words that contribute to a healthy romantic relationship.
But no matter how compatible a couple is with each other, it's still a recipe for disaster when two incompatible alpha personalities like Tunde and Abby come together In a relationship.
Even though Tunde and Abby were very much in love with each other, both had zero ideas about how to keep a relationship going, one doesn't have the patient and commitment to stay in a relationship while the other had never been in a relationship, which might make their relationship journey a bit rockier than the usual.
"Baby check this out..." Abby moved closer to Tunde to show him something on her phone. She had just finished setting up her new phone and while using it, she would occasionally ask him questions about things she was not familiar with since this was her first time using Apple products.
He collected the phone and was showing her what to do about her question when her phone started ringing.
"What the fuck does he want?" He asked while returning her phone to her, and not before putting it on speaker mode. Even though he appears calm, Abby could sense he was angry. One moment they were talking and laughing, now he's suddenly gone cold with the incoming call from Mike.
"I don't know... But he's my friend. Friends occasionally call each other ones in a while you know" she replied softly before answering the call
[Mike, what's up?.…]
[My precious, come down I have a surprise for you].
'My precious!?' Hearing the endearment Mike used on his girlfriend, Tunde chuckled dryly and raised his brow at her obviously asking 'what was that all about?'
[Come down from where? Where are you?]
Abby asked Mike in confusion while thinking 'what's with the endearment and how could he ask me to come down by this time of the night?...and today of all days when I'm with Tunde?'
[I'm at your mom's....aren't you home?]
[No I'm not...]
[Okay, I'll come to you. Tell me where you are]
[Mike It's late already, it's past nine...]
[Yeah I know, just coming back from work myself...I have an awesome surprise and I want you to be the first person I show this to... Because you are special to me girl. Are you at the flower garden or the hostel?]
Tunde gave another dry chuckle 'my girl his special to another man! He even knows everywhere she might be, huh?' He thought, his anger dangerously rising, but he managed to put his emotions under strong control
'Jesus! Why would I be the first person you show something special to?... I'm not your mom, neither am I your girlfriend...' Abby thought, stealing a glance at Tunde's face to see he's now glaring at her with pursed lips.
[Neither... Mike let's talk tomorrow please, now is not a good time, okay?]
She said and immediately disconnected the call without waiting for his reply. The silence that followed after her conversation with Mike was thick and unsettling.
"You couldn't even tell him where you are..." Tunde broke the silence
"I...I..."
"Don't wait up." He interrupted her, and calmly stood up, grabbed his phones, and walked out. He didn't want to listen to her excuses. What does she take me for? a fool that will swallow every bullshit thrown at him?
He was angry at her and his heart was in turmoil. 'My precious! What the fuck was that all about!? Didn't she promise to set the bastard straight and let him know about us? She didn't 'cos if she had, he wouldn't be at her house, wanting to show her something special at night'
He walked down angrily to Lekan's house which was nearer to his own, he knew that Lekan wouldn't be home since he's always at Mide's place, except for when he's having a woman over, which mostly happens on weekends
He arrived at Lekan's house and the security guards who were his men that he assigned to guard his brother's house let him in without questions asked. He walked up the drive and input the passcode when he got to the main door.
"Hey man," he was surprised to hear Lekan's voice when he entered the living room.
"What are you doing here?" Tunde asked without thinking "Aren't you usually with Mide?
"Dude, shouldn't I be asking you that question?... What are you doing here? Aren't you suppose to be with your girl?" He asked looking at him strangely
"None of your business" Tunde said gruffly and walked past his brother, going towards the room he used whenever he stayed over
"What do you mean none of my business, this is my house" Lekan replied while following closely behind
"Fuck off! This is my brother's house. You go to your brother's house" He retorted and slammed the door in Lekan's face, almost hitting him with the door if Lekan had gone more closer.
"Fucking idiot! You nearly broke my nose!" Lekan shouted through the door
Mide who was listening to everything that was going on without taking his eyes away from the movie he was watching laughed at the way his two brothers bicker with each other
"Why do you both always have to be at each other's neck?" He said towards Lekan
"Isn't it too early for them to be having disagreements?" Lekan replied instead. Walking back to sit down where he was before, obviously referring to Tunde and his girlfriend
"We don't know what happened, plus with his kind of temper? I doubt it"
"Do you think this ship would last for up to a month before it capsizes? I'm worried about them"
"You are worried about them?...not like you're an epitome of a good relationship yourself," Mide said and chuckled.

After Tunde left, Abby tried calling him several times but he didn't pick her calls. She remains sitting where he left her, staring into space and thinking to herself
'Mike, why do you have to call now and fuck things up for me? Are you the devil's child? Now, what am I going to do? how do I handle this?'
She sighed heavily feeling dejected and called him again and again and again...while muttering to herself
"Baby please pick up, please pick my calls..."
She continues calling and praying he would pick until she heard the service provider's interactive voice response system said;
"The number you have dialed is switched off, please try again later, thank you."
After hearing the automated voice message, Abby suddenly feels fed up, not knowing what to do again. A thought then occurred to her 'why not call Dupe?'
So she called her friend, the only person whom she feels can advise her on what to do from a woman's point of view
[Girl! Why are you calling me? Shouldn't you be snuggling and hugging up lovingly to your man right now? I am getting ready for my husband, rubbing on my skin this nicely scented, aphrodisiac oil which I'm going to...] Dupe's usual bubbly and jovial voice goes on and on through the phone's earpiece before Abby interrupted her
[He's very angry with me right now sister D. He left the house in anger and has even switched off his phones]
[Why? What happened?] Dupe sounded worried now, after hearing how upset Abby sounded. All traces of humor are forgotten.
