Chapter 25 Each others thoughts

Abby was dazed, she sat on the counter for some time to gather her thoughts before finally getting down. She reached behind herself to refasten the bra she had no idea when it was loosened.

He was the first guy she had truly connected with ever since her near-rape and death experience, she had even thought she was damaged beyond help, so yeah, even though she wanted to see where this leads to, she still needs to be cautious.

'He's way, way out of my league, that's for sure. What if he's just after my body and leaves after he's gotten what he wanted? What if he truly likes me but my family doesn't like him? My dad especially. Who would blame them... He kinda looks like a man every mother would warn their daughters to stay away from.

Wouldn't it be stupid if I give myself totally to him when I don't know him that well? How do I even make him understand me, especially when he seemed like a man that's used to having his own way?

I can't just give myself to him like that simply because I like him, especially when he never said he likes me. We aren't even dating yet.

So many thoughts running through her mind.

'I warned you...now it's too late!' the voice in her head came back to harp at her again. Abby forced her mind to blank out the voice. The water for the poundo was indeed boiling, she picked up the flour she had thrown at him earlier that was still lying on the floor and proceeded towards the cooker.

Tunde jogged up the flight of stairs, entered his living room, and sat on his gamers chair. He removed a cigarette from the pack he left on the coffee table, lit it, and took a deep drag, squinted his eyes as he exhaled slowly, he then rested his back on the chair and closed his eyes, letting his thoughts washed over him.

He left the kitchen in anger because she reminded him of her boyfriend yet again. He sighed deeply and pinched the bridge of his nose, he couldn't figure out why he felt he had the right to be angry at her. He tapped the cigarette over the ashtray to remove the ashes, took another drag, and exhaled.

Truth be told, he knew his anger was not because of the sex, since getting a willing woman to relieve himself on is no big deal, and once he's gotten his release that's it. He never gets emotionally involved with them. So why does the fact that she has a boyfriend makes him want to punch something?

'Lawd! What is the matter with me!?' He wondered with irritation. Just what is it about her? Why does she affect me so much? Why!? This is so frustrating!'

He's always preferred friends with benefits, sex bartering... call it whatever, to relationships. To him, it sure beat the headache of being in a relationship and being guilt-tripped.

Why was he angry then? Wasn't she just another pussy to relieve his sexual urge? If she wasn't ready to put out, then fine, it's just a matter of a one-minute call and another more willing pussy will fall in right?

He still had not come down by the time Abby was done cooking. She went upstairs and knocked on his door, hoping he's had enough time to calm down.

"Tunde... I'm done cooking" she called out from outside his door tentatively.

"Okay, I'll be right down" he replied, still a little bit grouchy. When he came down, the kitchen table was already set, they sat down to eat in silence, both pretended as if nothing had happened earlier.

"Oh wow! this is amazing!" He couldn't help but commend on the great taste of the food, breaking the awkward silence between them and looking at her with newfound respect. He could taste the different ingredients used in the soup distinctively without one overshadowing the other.

"Never judge a book by its cover," he said, looking at her in amazent.

"Meaning?"

"I never figured you as somebody who could cook at all. I was secretly praying I don't get poisoned you know."

"Why didn't I think of that before? " She murmured to herself.

"What did you say?"

"I said thanks for the compliment"

"Hmmn... Liar! I heard what you said." He said and chuckled

When they were done eating, they cleared up and washed the dishes together.

She was the first woman that has ever cooked for him, apart from his mother and she was also the first woman that has ever entered his home, apart from his mother. 'So do you still think you are not getting emotionally involved with this one?' He asked himself.

"Now it's game time..." she suddenly said vibrantly, her voice interrupted his thoughts. "We are still playing together right?"

"Yeah...okay" he replied and laughed at her enthusiasm.
