Chapter 42
Ravi zoomed off and used his talent as a psychopathic driver to get him out of there. He didn't want to see the face of that bastard anymore than he already had to.
It felt like he was driving into the sunset and he didn't want to stop, he didn't even know where he was going and that didn't bother him at all. All he needed right now was to be as far away from Nicholas as possible. If he could put a whole country between them, he definitely would but that wasn't a smart idea especially with Marcus on the loose.
An hour later, Ravi found himself in the house that he grew up in with his father hugging the life out of him. If the situation were to be different, he would have called off his father from hugging to death but it looked like the both needed this more than any other thing. Ravi missed his dad.
"Oh God, I can't even explain how happy I am to see you right now son." Victor said, looking into his son's tears filled eyes. "You probably can't imagine how worried I was, son." He said going back to hug the life out of Ravi."
Ravi sniffled and swallowed the huge lump in his throat, "I'm happy to see you too dad."
The sound of feet tore them away from each other. Ravi turned around to see the man or should he say boy with curly hair just like his. The boy was cute like really cute but that didn't stop him from asking his father who the boy was.
"Father, who is this?" Ravi asked.
"This is your new bodyguard and I don't want to hear a single complaint about this matter." Victor ordered, he knew Ravi was going to fight him over this and he was ready for it. He isn't going to take chances on his son anymore. But to his surprise and that of Raphael, Ravi didn't argue at all....not even a single word said except 'Ok' and he walked into the house.
Ravi had learnt his lesson the hard way. He couldn't help but imagine what would have happened if he had been with the bodyguards his father assigned to him. Maybe things would have been different... Or maybe not.
The sound of footsteps followed him all the way to his room and he didn't find that annoying at all.
"So what's your name?" Ravi asked.
"Raphael."
"No surname?"
"I don't have one." Raphael looked down feeling ashamed. The no surname thing was a touchy subject for him.
Ravi shugged. "You can have mine."
"What?" Raphael wasn't sure Ravi was even listening to himself. How the hell does someone just offer their identity to a person they don't even know.
Ravi chuckled at Raphael puzzled. The guy was really cute. "Don't worry about that. I'm perfectly normal so stop worrying about my level of craziness."
"Oh n-no sir, I wasn't thinking about that." Raphael told him wearily. This was his boss at his new job, he wasn't supposed to get comfortable so quickly besides he doesn't know the kind of boss Ravi was and it seemed like Ravi read his mind and cleared all his doubts.
"Calm down Raphael. There is absolutely no need for you to get your jockstraps in a twist." Ravi said. He didn't want Raphael to act more cold and unemotional towards him. Right now what he needs the most is a friend and he has a strong feeling that Raphael would make a good one.
"That's not how the saying goes...and thank you I guess." Raphael said nervously, rubbing the back of his neck, "I really need this job not for the money or anything like that but for the influence it would make in my portfolio. Your father is a very influential man, his name can get me to the top besides I worked really hard to get to where I am today. Wouldn't want that to go down the drain." He poured out to a stranger. Raphael didn't know what had come over him, I mean he wasn't a person to just blurt out practically his whole life story and especially to his boss. "Sorry didn't mean to dump all that on you." He said apologetically.
Ravi brushed him off and said, "Don't ever apologize for being yourself or saying what you want to. Trust me, I have been on that side of the wall and it's definitely frustrating I tell you... besides I have a feeling that we are to be sharing a lot of secrets with each other but go now, I would like to be alone and have a much needed shower and sleep."
"Yes sir and I will be taking my leave now." Raphael said, walking towards the door.
"The name's Ravi, be sure to call me that." Ravi called out and walked into the bathroom room. Ravi didn't really need the shower but he needed an excuse to get Raphael out...not because he didn't want to stay but because he was contemplating whether Nicholas was worth drowning himself in his hot tub slash jacuzzi.
Turns out, he wasn't worth it at all but that didn't stop his heart from feeling heavy. Ravi stripped down from his clothes to his birthday suit, he passed the mirror without looking at it. He wasn't feeling any self esteem at this moment, he was feeling depressed and sad but he hoped that a good shower and bed rest would do the trick.
He got into his very expensive looking shower, he looked at the small shelf in the shower and was glad that his skincare and hair creams, soaps and conditioners were still intact. At least one thing was going his way today.
After showering, he hopped out of the shower and wrapped the soft looking rope around his body. Ravi was starting to feel good but he hoped a good night sleep on his silky bed would do the trick. He lotioned his body up and exited the bathroom, he wasn't feeling like putting on clothes so he took a green thong out of his cloth drawer and slipped it on then crawled into his bed. The bed was practically calling out to him so he answered the call and slipped under the cover. It wasn't up to a minute before he fell asleep.
Few weeks later, Ravi was starting to get himself back... Keyword in starting and it was frustrating the hell out of Victor.
The Ravi now wasn't the Ravi he knew before he was taken from his grip. He wasn't going to forgive himself for being ignorant to his son's safety.
Ravi has always had a mind of his own so he let it slide because Ravi is his only child but seeing his son sad but safe is better than not seeing him at all.
The day Ravi arrived, he was looking so out of it but he pushed that aside for the moment because he was to see him. Victor wasn't expecting his son that day but wouldn't have it another which was why he called the house that Nicholas was staying to ask why his son was unhappy. Victor trusts Nicholas and takes him as a son but he wouldn't be so lineanet with him if he so much so harms a single hair on Ravi's head. His boy was fragile and too pure for this world and he would never let anyone tint it. which is why he is currently standing in front of his door.
"Ravi, can I come in? It's dad." Victor asked.
"Yeah, I guess."
Victor opened the door and walked in to see Ravi in a cocoon of blankets. So that's where all his blankets went. "You know that you have a lot of blankets on the shelf over there... Why do you keep taking mine." He asked.
"Because it smells like my papa." Ravi grumbled with a cute pout on his lips and a red nose with Victor was yet to notice.
"Awwn." Victor cooed at Ravi's cuteness overload. Victor wasn't always like this but he missed his son and wanted to get closer to him. He was 49, getting old and to top it off he is now officially single and a divorcee.
"Dad Dad, are you ok?" Ravi said, staring at his father worriedly.
"Yeah I'm fine." Victor answered almost absent minded, "you know your great grandma from my side didn't approve of your mother. She always saw right through Sonia and she couldn't stand her especially because she wanted me to marry an Indian girl but I refused. I hated the life I had to live when I was in India. Don't get me wrong son, India is a beautiful place but very hard to live in if you are poor."
"You lived in India...with papa." Ravi's great grandfather wasn't a man to mess with. He was a true American and very strict with everyone except for him. Papa wanted everyone in the family to be involved in politics somehow. Papa said it was a family business and that we had to continue it for generations to come but that didn't work out for him.
Ravi remembered the day he came out to papa about his sexuality and his choice of occupation, it was an easy conversation to have especially being papa's favorite but to everyone's surprise, papa didn't even care about any of that and told him to be happy. He missed papa so much.
"No, because at that time papa and mama were goin through some tough times in their marriage so after my mother Maryanne was born, mama left America. She couldn't stand to see papa happy so happy without her so she left."
"Wait, what was the cause of their separation and why the hell didn't I know about this?"Ravi asked. He wasn't sure about what he was supposed to feel concerning this story his father was telling him about.
Victor sighed, "well you see, they met when papa was just entering office for his first tenure as governor in his home town West Virginia and Mama's father was an ambassador for some shit. We don't really talk about him...he was a man full of shit but anyways papa and mama met fell in love and to cut the story short...her father wasn't in agreement with their relationship so he asked her to choose and she chose papa. It wasn't an easy situation for her because she had never been anywhere other than India but I guess her love for Christopher was that strong for her to give everything up." Victor said remembering the sad look on his mother's face when she told him about this. "But the thing was papa I mean Christopher wasn't or should I say didn't know that he was in love with her and she knew about that but with hope and faith, she stayed with him not like she had a choice anyways. So after a few years of things being ok, mama started to notice some changes on papa...you the regular changes and she also noticed that she was pregnant at that moment... Papa wasn't ready for that especially because he was preparing for his second tenure, he didn't want any scandal that might spoil his chances at winning so he hid her. He hid us."
