Escaping
(3rd Person – Past)
As soon as Gloria wakes up, she demands that her niece tell her everything. The only thing she can think is that Amillia is not supposed to be here. It’s not safe for her to be here. Never, ever was it meant for Amillia to be in this world. She wants to know what the plan is since someone decided to send her here anyways against what the fates want.
Maybe the fates have changed their plan. Maybe their destinies have changed, and she just didn’t get the memo. Apparently she has been without her memory for quit a few years, too many years. Six years to be exact. She can’t believe that she’s not been herself, out of her head, remembering nothing for six whole years.
Immediately Gloria starts scrying to see if she can receive a message from the mother goddess. She needs the guidance. She’s lost and has no clue as to what to do with this situation, and worst of all, she knows that her niece is in trouble the longer that she stays here. She’s already been here six years! It doesn’t help that the Wyatt’s are in this world as well, especially Cole and his family, or more like just his family at this point.
Gloria had been mortified to learn that majka bozica granted a union between Taylor and Joseph. That too was never supposed to happen. Everything is all messed up, but one thing she does know for sure is that while things haven’t turned out the way that anyone predicted them too, the prophecy is still coming true right before their eyes.
Not only is Taylor pregnant, but Amillia just happens to be as well. Although Amillia does not know this fact as of yet. That’s something that Gloria learned while scrying. This is bad, very bad.
This is not the response from her aunt that Amillia expected. Amillia assumed that once her aunt regained her memories that she would be all about helping Amillia. Nope. That’s not how that worked, instead, Gloria locked herself up in the attic, so she not only starts to ignore Amillia, but she has also taken away the only “safe place” Amillia has in the entire home. Now Amillia is stuck with Taylor and Joseph roaming the rest of the house. At least Taylor has her memories back as well, she’s actually more tolerable when she remembers everything.
Taylor’s different alright. Now, instead of just worrying about bearing new life and being in a forbidden ethereal union with the love of her life, she’s worried about getting to where she is supposed to be. She knows she’s not supposed to be in this world anymore than Amillia is, they both have their own places to protect. This world is Gloria’s and Gloria’s only until the day she dies, then one of the others will take over, not now. None of them are supposed to be here right now.
Joseph isn’t having an easy time with all of this as well. While he hadn’t been under the exact same memory curse he had forgotten all about his mother and had neglected his siblings as well. This ate at him completely. He’s the reason that Erik is now a monster chained up in the basement of their mansion, which isn’t even supposed to be here in this world.
Guilt is eating all of them alive, and it’s annoying Amillia. Yeah, they should feel guilty, they are getting what is owed to them right now, but that doesn’t change the past, whatever has happened, happened. Nothing can be done about that now. It’s irking that no one is focused on the present and the future, what they should be all worried about now.
Joseph and Taylor both attempted apologies to the youngest three Wyatt siblings. Elizabeth gladly forgave them, she’s just excited that they’re back to recognizing their family and that she’s going to be an aunt. Melody, she’s been quiet since the day that Erik had beat her and Amillia both, still attached to Amillia’s hip as if she’s afraid something will happen to her if she’s not permanently attached to her side. Michael, he’s a completely different story, he doesn’t care about their apology and has nothing for them and sure hasn’t bothered to care about voicing his opinion either.
“What the hell do you mean you’re sorry?!” Michael screams as they are all inside of the living room in Gloria’s house discussing what has been going on after everyone is back to being their normal selves again.
Joseph hangs his head down. This is the first time that he’s actually been able to get his brother to attempt to set down and talk to him. It took Amillia a week of begging for Michael to agree to hear his brother out.
“Joseph, an apology doesn’t cut it!” Michael states angerly. “You don’t get it do you, you heard Gloria, Amillia’s pregnant by Erik, do you know how, because he fucking beat the shit out of her and raped her you asshole!” His voice getting louder with each word coming out. “I tried, I came and begged you to help me with him because he was getting out of control. YOU told me that’s not your business, your concerns were here with Taylor because she’s your family now!”
He does have a point to be mad, Amillia thinks to herself. She should be mad too him airing out her dirty laundry such as he is, but it’s bound to come out sooner or later anyways. The only one’s who didn’t know what Erik had done is Gloria, Taylor, and Joseph, and that’s because at the time they honestly didn’t care to know.
“It’s okay, he’s locked up now and can’t hurt anyone,” Amillia thinks. Deep down she suspects that’s not the truth. Damian had told her once Gloria regained her memories that Erik would be attracted to her power, too much power, and since he’s now trained to kill anyone with that much good power, he’s going to be coming after her.
Amillia had kind of omitted that part, or any part that involved Damian. She has a feeling that no one will believe he’s actually been trying to help her. She has a feeling that he’s hiding more than he’s willing to share, there’s just something about him that seems off. His aura too, there’s just something off about everything having to do with Damian.
Just then the front door to Amillia’s home slams open and smacks against the wall loud enough to rattle the glass in the door. Everyone in the room turns in the direction of the door, but no one is there.
Michael, who is already standing walks over toward the door to inspect what is going on. Just then Gloria comes walking down the stairs from the attic that leads into the living room. Before she reaches the bottom step though she lets out a short scream and waves one hand in the air in Michael’s direction.
Everyone had turned to Gloria to see why she screamed, but upon her waving her hand their heads turn to the direction of Michael. They all watch in slow motion, as Gloria waves her hand Erik goes flying backwards down the steps leading to the porch, but also Michael is standing in the doorway still, facing everyone, with a look of shock on his face. Looking down they all see why. He’s been stabbed, blood is covering his hands from where Erik had stabbed him in the back.
Gloria beats everyone racing to make it to Michael to help him before he bleeds out and dies right in front of their faces. This is unbelievable. Yes, Amillia had been warned, but never would she have ever thought that he would escape and attack his own brother. He’s never attacked Michael before, and they’ve fought millions of time with Michael fighting to keep him from destroying or killing Amillia.
Amillia’s heartbeat is beating fast against her chest. She can hear it thumping in her ears to a beat of its own. It’s beating so hard she halfway wonders if she may be going to have a heart attack. Yet, the fear that consumes her, fear for losing a dear friend, is taking up all of her thinking capabilities right now and she doesn’t know what to do.
“He’s not dead, not yet” Gloria tells them. “Joseph, help me move him, I can help him, but we have to be quick.”
Joseph quickly springs into action moving his baby brother so that Gloria can do what is needed to make sure that he lives. Amillia takes a quick glance at the steps outside and realizes that Erik isn’t there. She had been sure she would see his body laying there, but there’s nothing.
“Gloria, he’s gone.” She informs everyone directing the statement toward Gloria though.
Gloria looks up but doesn’t stop what she is doing. A look of concern stretched across her face. She quickly mutters stuff under her breath that no one can make out and continues on with trying to heal Michael.
“Do you know what’s going on?” Amillia asks. She has to know. This is too much; she has been through too much in her life. All she’s ever wanted since her parents were murdered is for Gloria to get her memories and help her! Well, Gloria has her memories now alright, but as far as the helping and being useful part, that seems to have all been a dream.
But Gloria doesn’t answer, she keeps going about what she’s doing as if her niece hadn’t just asked her a question. Amillia begins to grow frustrated. Why is all this happening? What did any of them do to deserve all this bullshit?
They all watched as Gloria made a paste and put it onto Michael’s wound. Joseph had managed to get his shirt off of him to give Gloria access to the wound. She’s muttering under her breath again as she’s rubbing the paste onto his wound. Michael is out cold, no surprise, he’s lost a lot of blood.
Poor Melody, if seeing her second oldest brother, the one who has always cared for her turn into a evil sadistic bastard hasn’t scared her enough, seeing this will most definitely do the trick. Amillia walks over to Melody and wraps her up in a reassuring hug, although she knows nothing is going to make this situation better for any of them.
Once finished Gloria stands up and turns to Amillia. “I’ve put a protection spell around the house, Erik won’t be able to get in for now. He’s a hunter that’s been given demon blood, it’s an experiment that the Wyatt’s are now trying. I don’t know why they have been permitted to stay in this clearing, or what the purpose of any of this is, but that’s what I do know. Majka bozica didn’t give me a whole lot of information. This must be something that has been determined by the fates, that would be the only reason that she wouldn’t get involved.”
“But why?” Amillia asks.
“Oh baby, this all has to do with a prophecy that was put into place many years ago. I’m so sorry that it has to be you all involved in this mess. The best thing we can do right now is just to get everyone to where they belong. Taylor, you, and Joseph are going to have to leave here as well.” Gloria tells them with sorrow lacing her voice. She truly is sorry that her own children along with her nieces are going to have to endure surviving this prophecy that may or may not even be talking about them.
“Is there anything to help my brother?” Joseph asks.
Gloria shakes her head. “Nothing that I am aware of. What they did, the way that they go about doing it. Erik may never be the same person that he once was ever again, we just all have to be cautious because it could be any one of us he decides to come after. He may perceive every one of us as a threat.”
Then Gloria turns to Amillia, “Baby girl, I’m sorry to say this but you’re the one in the most danger. Yes, I am more powerful than you are, but with that baby you’re carrying the powers of both of you combined technically make you the most powerful being. Erik won’t recognize that he loves you or what you are to him, or that baby. He’s been made to attack first and ask questions later.”
Amillia thinks about this for a moment. Life is so not fair. Her life has never been fair. She’s lost everything that she’s ever cared about and now she’s facing losing more. How much more does she have to suffer? What else could go wrong?
But before she could think of anything else, Erik is back at the door that no one closed behind them. Luckily Gloria has done a protection spell, if not then he would have made his way into the house endangering everyone. Instead, he’s stuck outside the door, bearing scary demonic eyes, sharper teeth than normal, and he’s seems to have grown in size both taller and in width. His muscles are rippling through his body, and anger evident on his face along with determination.
Everyone in the house stopped what they are doing and give Erik their full attention at the door.
“Come out here and fucking face me!” He spit in such a low voice that had it not been completely silent no one would have heard him speaking.
“Erik no one here wants to fight you,” Gloria tells him. “Go back home.”
The look that Erik gives Gloria would have killed her instantly if looks could kill. He’s thirsty for their blood and it’s evident on his face.
“It’s not you I want this time bitch,” Erik responds. “I’m not leaving until Amillia is outside of this damn house!”
For the first time since Amillia has known Erik fear of him runs cold through Amillia’s veins. She wants to cry. He would seriously kill her, and their unborn, if it hadn’t been for the fact that Gloria put a protection spell on the house to keep him out of it. Why does everything bad happen to her?
Amillia thinks for a moment. She can choose to stay here, trapped in this house and endangering everyone she has left that she loves, or she can run. She can go into the forest and find a portal and get the hell out of this world. Yeah, sure, Erik may follow, but if he does that just means that everyone else left here will be okay. He won’t come back, hopefully, if he’s too busy trying to track her and find her.
She’s made up her mind. She knows what she has to do. She knows what needs to be done.
Seeming as if all of this is too much to handle, Amillia takes off running up the stairs and into the attic. She can hear the cold and cruel laughter of Erik following her with each step she is running up. Cold chills run throughout her body and her heart is racing so fast it feels as if it could run out of her chest. She doesn’t know if her decision is the correct one, but it’s the one that she’s going with.
Without thinking she grabs a small bag, grabs her own journal, a couple pairs of clothes from her room, and the necklace Damian give her. She’s almost certain that she’s going to need his help to escape Erik. He knows the forest as well as she does considering that fact that both of them have explored quit a bit of it. At least, all the parts where the sun still shines. There’s a part of the forest that the sun doesn’t reach because of the thickness of the trees, and there’s no trails, all trails end at the darkness, and that’s the only part of the forest the two of them have not explored.
Without warning anyone she opens the window in the attic that has a giant oak tree setting outside of it. All she has to do is shimmer down the tree and run to the forest. Once she’s in the forest she’ll summon Damian and lead Erik away from here and away from the only family that she has left. She has to make sure he’s following her for this plan to work. She’s sure that she has gone completely insane, but she’ll do anything for her family.
As quietly as possible Amillia sneaks out the window and onto the tree branch closest to the window. Her palms are sweaty, and her heart is still beating loudly. Silently Amillia prays that Erik’s senses aren’t as good as what everyone believes them to be. With the demon blood in his system the assumption is that his senses have been heightened to that of a demon.
As quietly as possible Amillia climbs down the tree branch by branch. She’s hoping to at least make it to the forest, or close enough, before drawing Erik’s attention to herself. All she knows is that she just has to protect her family, and as of right now, this is the best solution she has to accomplish that goal.
Stealthily she reaches the bottom of the tree. She quickly checks her surroundings to make sure she’s still in the clear, and then she takes off running toward the forest. This time, she’s not being as quiet as she should be. It’s cooler weather here and leaves are everywhere and they’re crunching under her feet as she runs.
Amillia didn’t stop running until she entered into the shade of the trees in the forest. Quickly as possible Amillia digs in her bag and pulls out the box that Damian gave her the first time that he ever approached her. ‘I hope this works’ she thinks to herself taking the necklace out of the box and putting it around her neck.
But before she has time to do anything else she hears a voice in her head, loud and clear. So loud in fact it feels as if her head is going to explode due to the loudness of the voice.
“You can run baby girl, but you can’t hide. Keep running!” It demands. She froze solid recognizing the voice. It’s Erik’s voice. Since when has he been able to make himself heard inside of another’s head? Is this a part of whatever demon blood they injected him with, or whatever they have done to him?
Was he telling her to run? Is the real Erik surfacing? Maybe he doesn’t want to hurt her, not really, and it’s just the demon part of him, the training he went through that’s making him act this way, making him attack. But then again, maybe all of this is just hopeful thinking too.
Ignoring the voice in her head and running a bit further into the forest, Amillia grabs her necklace and thinks of Damian while holding the bottom part of the necklace tight in her hands. Please let this work, please let this work. She’s praying that this necklace actually works the way that it’s supposed to.
Amillia never once stopped running. She kept going. She doesn’t know how deep or far this forest stretches, but she has a feeling if she stops that Erik will catch her and that he’s not going to be nice about finding her either. Her heart is still racing as fast as her legs are running. The whole time she holds the necklace and prays that Damian actually shows in time before Erik does.
Running and not paying attention to her surroundings, Amillia trips over a tree root that’s sticking out of the ground. She takes a second to gather her breath, but when she does the voice appears back inside of her head.
“Shouldn’t have stop baby girl, I can sense the power, and I’m close, too close. Should keep going unless you just want to die. It’s stupid to stop going now. I doubt you have anywhere to go though, you’re trapped in the forest. You’re on my territory now.” Erik’s voice taunts.
Why does he have to taunt her? Hasn’t he done enough already, and does this stupid necklace not even work? She’s about ready to give up. She’s hot, she’s sweaty, she’s tired, and she has no idea what to do, her plan didn’t work and now the one person she truly loves more than anything is going to kill her and their unborn child.
All she wants to do is curl in a ball and cry, but she knows she can’t. So, instead she gets herself together and stands up, looking around, she picks a random direction and starts running that way. She’s still holding onto her necklace and calling, praying, and hoping that Damian shows up and can help her find a portal out of this place. In her mind if she can find a portal to another world then she can escape, and Erik will follow her and then her family will be safe.
It's getting darker the more that she runs and the deeper she goes.
“I told you not to fucking stop stupid bitch, don’t you ever fucking listen?” The voice isn’t in her head and she’s no longer running. She can feel the tight grip cutting into her arm, squeezing as if it’s about to be cut into two. A tourniquet doesn’t hurt anything like the grip that Erik currently is holding her upper arm in.
He backhands her across the face so hard that she would have fell down if he didn’t have her in such a tight grip.
“Yeah well, at least your dumbass got away from my family,” Amillia smarts back. “Don’t you think I knew what I was doing when I left that house?”
Nope, not at all. She had a plan, but that plan failed the moment that she entered the forest and Damian didn’t appear. Stupid necklace. She can’t believe she had actually trusted someone that she didn’t know. What the hell had she been thinking?
Then Amillia does something that not even she seen herself coming. She rears back her other hand and throws the hardest punch that she can directly in the spot between Erik’s eyes. It wasn’t hard enough to break anything, but hard enough to take him by surprise and make him release his hold on her.
Amillia lands on the forest floor with a hard thump, but before anything else can happen she feels something hard connect with her ribs and pain radiates all through her body. So much pain, she can’t truly focus on anything else happening around her due to the sudden amount of pain that her body is experiencing.
Yup, tonight the night she’s going to die. Is it even night? How long has she been running in the forest anyways? Time has escaped her as has most of her sanity at this moment. She’s never imagined her death but she sure as hell wouldn’t have ever thought that this would be the way that she is going to go out of this world. All she hopes for right now is that after she’s dead he leaves her family alone, let’s them go. Surely everyone isn’t trapped in this world with this satanic maniac with no escape.
She’s waiting on another blow to land, but it doesn’t come. Adrenaline starts pumping through her body, heart rate rising. Why is he hesitating? Why isn’t he killing her yet?
There’s fighting that can be heard above her. She doesn’t know who’s fighting but the sounds of the leaves crackling and bones breaking can be clearly heard. Amillia dares to take a glance at what is happening above her, curiosity winning over when it shouldn’t. They do always say that curiosity kills the car, maybe that’s what takes her out.
To her surprise though, right across the forest ground from her is Erik lying, beaten to a pulp. There’s blood everywhere, and one arm is twisted behind him in an impossible angle with bone sticking out of it. He doesn’t look like he’s moving or going anywhere anytime soon.
“Are you okay?” Came the familiar voice that Amillia has been praying for.
“Yeah, I think so,” She says, but when she goes to move her ribs hurt and she realizes just how not okay she is.
Damian doesn’t look amused, but he helps her to at least stand, using him as her support to stay on her two feet.
“Why are you out here Amillia? You shouldn’t be this far into the forest, there’s all kinds of creatures out here that live in the night, love the darkness, why are you out here?” While he seems to be lechering her, his voice sounds almost as if it has a bunch of concern for her laced in it.
“I had too. Once everyone woke, it took some time, but he broke out of the cellar in the Wyatt home and was coming for everyone. He wanted me, he wants to kill me,” she’s crying, she didn’t know she had started crying, but she felt the salty liquid running down her face, stinging the split bruise that’s formed on her face from Erik punching her.
She looks down to wipe the tears out of her eyes. She had been stupid to think that the plan she had would ever work. Of course, even if she did get away, into a different world, and he did manage to follow, what would stop him from returning one day and finishing off everyone. She feels like an idiot at this moment.
As if Damian knew what she had been doing in the forest and what had happened, he doesn’t press her to say anything else, instead he just asks her if she’s sure she wants to leave here. Does she really want to take Erik out of this world and into a different one?
That’s a good question, she hadn’t thought all of that out. Could she really lead him into a different world and release him upon how ever many innocents that are in this world? Maybe Gloria will be able to figure something out to do with him if he does stay here. Maybe Cole will come back and get him if she leaves. There’s so many scenario’s running through her head she doesn’t know what to do.
“Do you want me to make him disappear?” Damian asks.
That’s not a question she had expected him to ask.
“How would you make him disappear?” Amillia asks.
“I’ll take him to hell and leave him. Chances are very high that he’ll get back out, but he’ll be away from here and won’t be able to just come back,” Damian answers as if it’s obvious. “The question is do you want to leave too, or do you want to stay here?”
That’s not a choice that he can make for her, it’s one that she must make for herself. She had never thought about actually having a choice to stay with Erik gone, but what would happen if she did stay? What’s to say that Cole won’t just bring Erik back here. Wouldn’t it keep her family safe if she’s not around, especially right now. Maybe one day she can return, but for now she feels as if she shouldn’t be here, she needs to be here somewhere else.
