Battle With Centaurs
Arrows zoom through the air like missiles before anyone could do or say anything else. Some are shiny like the one that hit Damian, while the others have fire blazing on the ends on them. The arrows are coming from all directions, they’re surrounded. Hopefully this place has somewhere safe, underground maybe, for its people to hide, although that can be doubtful considering that they probably hadn’t been expecting something like this to happen, ever.
Amillia stands back up from kneeling beside a wounded Damian and started deflecting the arrows coming their way. She has no idea what they have infused shiny silver arrows with, but she knows it’s part of their magic and Damian needs to remove it and make sure there’s no damage that’s permanent due to being shot.
Three hundred, give or take a few, centaurs all came thundering out of the woods at once, taking down anyone, or anything in their path. They are showing no mercy to this small town of shifters.
Noticing the amount of shifters being taken down, simply, Natalia starts to use her powers, and as much as Amillia doesn’t want too, she knows that them using their powers together would be the best way to get out of this mess. Amillia just hopes that the fates hadn’t been joking when they said that they were removing the curse, or else Lord help whose soul comes into contact with a pissed off and evil Amillia.
Sending fireball after fireball isn’t doing anything to slow down the attackers. Amillia is almost at a loss as to what to do. She can’t just leave the position that she’s currently in, not with Damian hurt, he wouldn’t last but a few seconds in this battle with the arrow sticking out of his shoulder. It needs to be removed as soon as possible. Having him not able to fight is actually hurting them a lot more than him being here and injured.
Out of nowhere, Michael, Joseph, Taylor, and Elizabeth appear out of nowhere.
“Where did you guys come from?” Amillia asks her cousin Taylor as they stand side by side defending Damian while Damian breaks the arrow for it to be removed from his shoulder.
“We were with the kids and then Matthew told us Damian came to this world, said something about you needed him, so we figured you needed help, so here we are,” Taylor responds.
Never before in her life has Amillia been so excited to see her family, or even the members of the Wyatt family. They had been in desperate need of some back up, how Matthew knew this fact is beyond Amillia’s thinking at this moment. Some things will just have to wait until they’re done saving everyone here to get to the bottom of.
“Come on Damian, Michael, go and fight off attackers while I heal him,” Taylor instructed. Surprisingly, Michael obliged. He had helped pull the arrow out of Damian’s arm and is now heading into the battle to take down some centaurs leaving Taylor and Amillia alone with Damian.
Looking around at the battle going on, Amillia notices that it’s not just the small group of people she considers to be her family fighting, but more Wyatt’s had actually showed up. Cole’s sister, Mariah and her husband Aries are here, which is weird, especially considering Aries is the main trainer for the Wyatt family, but here they are fighting the centaurs back with everyone else. Erik’s cousin, Alex, has also appeared, he’s Mariah and Aries son. Amillia is less surprised to see him, he’s always hated his family and went against everything that they stand for these days.
At least now she knows that it’s not just a few of them fighting in this battle. Shaking her head and getting herself out of her thoughts, Amillia starts fighting once again with her sword, taking off heads one at a time while yet to get a single drop of blood on her precious blade.
Hours later, blood covering the ground as if it had rained nothing but the liquid down upon everyone, a few shifters lost, but the centaurs are gone. They have successfully beaten back their attackers, which wouldn’t have been possible at all if it hadn’t had been for the ones who came unannounced last minute.
Damian had collapsed onto the ground, having taken out the last of the centaurs that had intruded onto the land. He was beaten pretty badly and blood everywhere. Damian isn’t the only one in their group down, Khalil is down as well, Seth is barely hanging on, and Alex is bleeding profusely from one of his wounds on his leg which I causing him not to be able to stand.
“We lost about fifty of our people total,” Jarod says coming up to stand beside Amillia.
“I am truly sorry for your loss sir,” Amillia says out of respect. She’s seen for herself how much pain the leader of a shifter clan can be in when losing his people. She knows that none of this could have been easy for Jarod.
“Any idea what they wanted?” He asks her, hoping she’d be able to give him just a little bit of information.
“Other than to ravage and kill people, I’m not sure. I don’t even know how they broke our protection barriers,” Amillia responds. “Something is off here, I’m not sure what it is, but something isn’t right.”
Amillia and Jarod walked around the small town that had been so peaceful and homely over the past few days. Buildings are destroyed, some still on fire a bit but are being put out. The ground is littered with blood and bodies everywhere. Broken glass on the streets from vehicles and shattered glass out of the buildings. It looks like a scene straight out of a war movie.
“I’m so sorry Jarod, I never once thought that the protections we put up would be destroyed so easily. The only thing that I can figure is that my lovely sister decided to surface and she’s the one who took down the protections. She’d be the only one able to if I’m being honest,” Amillia apologized.
She truly does feel bad for him. He’s lost just about everything that he and his people had built. They’re going to have to start over fresh with everything. The centaurs hadn’t even left the fields alone, trampling over what they could and leaving the rest to be scorched by flame. They’re going to have to literally turn some dirt to be able to restart and grow back everything that was lost. Considering the season as well, that’s not going to be an easy task.
Amillia made her way over to where Damian is lying. She doesn’t think much or take much into consideration while walking over there. Her whole body is sore, but she ignores that. She had been kicked multiple times by the horse hooves by multiple different centaurs, but that’s not the main concern at the moment.
Getting closer, she can tell that he’s still alive, but barely. The thoughts of Damian dying are not something she’s fond of, which, of course, if he did die he’d end up back in the world of his father and who knows what would happen to him there.
Amillia bends down and picks an arrow up off of the floor, it’s a metal tipped one. She starts to examine the point end of the arrow. There has to be something more to it than just metal. A simple arrow wouldn’t be enough to take down the son of the Lord of Darkness as easy as these had.
Just at that time Jackson walks out of the cabin they had been staying in. The only cabin not harmed thanks to Renee waking up in the middle of a damn war and instantly going into protective mode over Sonja and placing a brand-new protection spell just around the cabin. It had worked, which just further proved that Leyla had to be around here somewhere tonight. What in the world is that woman doing now?
“It’s got blood root mixed with the metal,” Jackson says picking up an arrow himself and studying it closely.
Of course, that just further confirms that Leyla had been here. Not too many people know who the mother of three brothers that were fathered by the Lord of Darkness is. It’s been a well-kept secret, especially since she didn’t exactly keep her kids once she had them. Only one of them had remained with her, and then she ended up abandoning him as well.
“What does bloodroot do?” Jarod asks.
“It’s a poison for elves,” Amillia responds, just staring at the spot where Damian’s body is lying.
“Because, my dear brother here is half elf,” A mysterious man says walking out of the woods with an evil smile on his face. He’s dressed in all black leather that matches his black eyes and his pitch-black hair. “That’s part of what makes him special,” he lowers his voice to almost a whisper to say these last few words.
“Malachi?” Amillia asks. He is so not the person that she expected to see.
“Yup, and I bet you thought ALLL this was Leyla, didn’t ya?” He remarks with emphasis on the destruction that has been done to this town as if he’s prideful about what happened. “A job well done if I must say so myself,” he adds as he kicks a dead shifter out of his way.
“What do you want?” Amillia asks.
“What I’ve always wanted princess,” Malachi responds still using a menacing voice.
Malachi is a cold, vindictive, maladapted, very unstable evil bastard that has a black hole where his soul should be. He’s Carrick’s son, technically he’s not related to Damian, but yet they had been raised together and Malachi rejects the notion that Damian is somehow more important and more powerful than what he, himself, is. It’s his stupidity.
It’s so hard for Amillia not to be sarcastic at this point in time. She’s never been one to be able to tolerate all of Malachi’s cockiness. It’s just too much.
“And you think that you’re going to get it this time?” Amillia asks cocking her eyebrow.
Jarod barely speaks audibly when he says, “I think we should just hear what he wants Mrs. Black, have you looked around you?”
The panic and fear is clearly evident in his voice. Jarod’s not used to facing demons, well, this is a new world and something he’s going to have to get used too. He’s about to see a whole lot of things that he’s not used to seeing if the worlds are about to merge with one another.
“Yeah, Mrs. Black,” Malachi mocks, “maybe you should listen to the old, scared dude, because obviously he thinks he’s getting out of this.”
Amillia cocks her eyebrow at Malachi, never taking her eyes off of him. “I would call you a sadistic son of a bitch, but I don’t want you to think that I’m giving you a complement, jackass.”
She has noticed that dead bodies are rising all around them, lifting up in black smoke, one by one, and coming back to life. It’s not them though, and that’s something that this town doesn’t know. The survivors are petrified. Is it zombies, or has their loved ones come back to them?
It’s pretty obvious though, well, at least it is to someone who is used to this type of crap happening. “I’m not scared of your demons Malachi, I can send them all back to hell with no effort,” Amillia states. “What do you want?”
His laughter is cold and sends chills down to the bones. It’s one of those kind of sounds that can make bumps appear on your skin and the hair all over your body stand on edge.
“I want what everyone else wants, Mrs. Black,” Malachi answers once he’s done laughing as if the question had been a joke. “Peace and harmony and all that fun stuff, of course, I want it my way instead of what ‘the greater future’ is normally visioned.”
Then he places his hand under his chin moving his index finger across the top of his chin and staring off into space as if he’s pondering on something.
“Nah, better yet, let’s just let that happen on its own. No sweetie, I’ve come for you this time. I believe we have a debt to settle.” Malachi says with no hint of joking sarcasm in his voice.
Amillia looks around herself. The two brothers are standing with a girl that looks to be a bit younger than they are and they’re all three badly injured. Sonja is still asleep inside of the cabin, apparently Renee woke up at some point during all the fighting, but she looks fine. Khalil is nowhere to be found; Amillia is assuming that’s due to him wanting to be inside the room with Sonja. Damian’s out cold way to close to his brother for comfort. Seth has a few scraps and marks that are already healing and closing. Jarod and his poor pack are completely destroyed, and more are dead than alive, and to make things worse, the dead pack members are the one’s that Malachi had his demons possess, kinda a double whammy there, to kill the demons would be to re-kill and mutilate the shifter bodies, which is totally against their religion. Natalia looks okay and so does Jackson, at least that’s one relief.
“What makes you think you can come here and just take her like that?” Seth says catching on to what Malachi is speaking of and immediately getting pissed off.
“Calm down pup, don’t worry. We wouldn’t want you, or dear brother here, to miss the show now would we?” And with that Malachi snaps his fingers and Seth is asleep on the ground as soundlessly as Damian is.
Amillia can taste the fear rolling off of all of the actual living beings in this area. It’s suffocating and invading every part of her senses. Amillia isn’t one to fear something so easily. It’s going to take more than anything Malachi can shove out his ass to scare her.
“I’ll go with you as long you send all these demons back to hell and don’t ever come here again. Once I’m gone Natalia can reinstate the protections and it better never be bothered again!” Amillia states giving no room for an argument.
Malachi chuckles. If he wasn’t such an evil vindictive bastard without a soul then he could possibly be one of the prettiest people to ever walk this earth. There’s nothing there though, his looks are only skin deep. The soulless demon inside of that beautiful body is one that would make almost any human shutter in fear.
“Do you really think that you are in any position to be making demands bitch?!” Malachi says with more of a deeper command in his voice. Yup, she’s done working on his anger issues. Men and their egos.
It takes everything in Amillia not to roll her eyes at Malachi. While she is a bit stronger than he is, this is still not the time to be trying to cause a fight to break out. A fight with Malachi won’t just be any regular fight, nope, it’ll be all out war.
Amillia just shrugs her shoulders. “I guess not,” she responds, but her confidence never waivers.
A smile spreads across Malachi’s face, but it doesn’t reach his eyes. None of his smiles ever do. He’s well aware, knowing Amillia, that she’s probably trying to plan a way out of this situation, but this is something that he has been setting up for a long time, and he honestly doesn’t believe that she’s going to be able to escape this part of destiny as easy as she’s believing that she will.
“Let the shifters have the bodies of their dead back Malachi,” Amillia demands.
With another snap of Malachi’s fingers all the soulless bodies collide with the ground making a very loud thumping noise, and a bunch of black smoke filters itself back into the ground. The demons have retreated.
In the blink of an eye Seth’s sleeping body is moved to lay beside Damian’s sleeping body. Amillia is most certain that whatever Malachi has planned is not something that she has seen before.
