Meeting At the Gala
“Are you nervous about tonight?” Amillia asks Jayven as they both get dressed in their finest attire to be able to attend the gala tonight.
While Jayven and Amillia hadn’t personally been invited to tonight’s events, Jackson had. They decided to take advantage of his invitation and try to pass Jayven off as Jackson. Luckily for them Jackson has always been one to stay out of the limelight and didn’t let his picture, or face, be known to the public. No one would ever know whether or not Jayven is actually Jackson unless they were told. Jackson decided to stay back with Daniel at Amillia’s home just in case, you never know what might happen. Especially considering that Amillia did a blood-to-blood locator spell to even be able to track one of her sisters, she just isn’t sure which one will be in attendance tonight.
“I’m not nervous, but this is so not what I’m used to. Hunting normally entails actually tracking and killing a demon or something like that, not hunting down a long-lost sister to kidnap.” He responds.
Amillia peers up at him through the corner of her eyes. She’s short, way shorter than him barely standing a little over five foot tall while he’s about a good foot taller than she is. They’re so going to look awkward and out of place tonight, but that doesn’t matter, not as long as they can complete their mission before someone finds them suspicious. Boy, she can’t wait for the day that her “missions” will be complete, and she can relax and enjoy a life with her family, as it should be. All she’s ever wanted is a normal life.
“We’re not technically kidnapping her; we’re just taking her from one place she’s familiar with from the people she knows to a different place she hasn’t a clue of and doesn’t know anyone. Much simpler explanation.” She smirks at her statement knowing she’s full of crap and that they are straight breaking into an elite gala to take the hosting party’s live-in guest that they have been hosting for the past five years.
After locating one of her sisters Amillia made sure to do extensive research into what they may be getting themselves into just in case. She prefers to be as prepared as possible, considering they are going to be surrounded by plenty of people who serve the darkness it’s best to know what may happen if everything doesn’t go as planned.
Jayven doesn’t look impressed, its kidnapping, point blank and simple, and not only kidnapping but kidnapping in the middle of a supernatural, elite, rich people party. Yeah, nothing dangerous about this plan at all.
“Same thing dude let’s just call it what it is and not speak about it anymore until we make it through the night,” Jayven requested.
It wasn’t but a couple of hours later and they were standing in a huge ballroom area that’s built into a massive mansion. They fit in the best they could, considering that they at least had dressed for the part that they are playing. Amillia is wearing an A-line baby blue princess dress with her hair tied back at the sides and flowing in curls down her back. While going against the grain she’s also wearing white heels. Jayven is wearing a black suit with a white undershirt and a blue tie that matches Amillia’s dress. Apparently it’s custom for the male escorts to wear matching ties with the females during formal events such as this.
Daniel had done some research for them about the man throwing the party, Maleic, before they came so that they wouldn’t be completely blindsided by what they are walking into. Maleic is one of the top-notch business entrepreneurs that exist, owning his own chain of hotels, casino, and night clubs. It’s been suspected throughout the years that he also owned a few brothels and that his money isn’t as clean, honest, and hard working as he made it out to be. Although, he did manage to maintain a fairly decent professional profile by donating and doing fundraising for orphanages and providing to support to unwed mothers. It’s rumored that the orphan girl he had taken into his home is who had softened him up on that point. Too bad that’s the only part he’s softened up on.
The place is beautiful and very elegantly decorated. The ball room is a bit larger than a football field with moon stone marble floors and a huge crystal chandelier hanging in the center above everything and everyone and smaller ones circling around it spreading across the ceiling. Tables were setting along the sides of the floor allowing room for dancing. An orchestra was set up in the front facing everyone playing music in the background softly as everyone is walking around greeting one another. Waiters all dressed in formal suits walking around the room carrying gold platters full of different types of wine and champagne on them, passing them out to the guests.
“Well, I can’t say I’ve ever been to anything like this before, but damn am I about to get drunk,” Jayven says taking a glass flute and drinking half of it right on the spot.
Amillia shoots him a dirty look, “um, no sir you’re not.” She says taking the champagne glass from him and finishing his drink. “My tolerance is better than yours. We have to stay sober, drink to be social, not to get drunk.” That was a demand. They can’t afford to get sloppy and mess all of this up.
Three men walk down the stairs to the right of the room, entering the ballroom through one of the side doors. From where they are setting, close to the back, they can see through the doors straight into the foyer and the steps leading to the rest of the house. Amillia suddenly stops breathing. Jayven is looking at her with concern in his eyes. Before he can ask her anything she grabs his arm, stands, and starts pulling him the opposite direction of the men.
“Now is the time to blend in and pretend not to be here.” She whispers to Jayven barely audible.
Jayven speaks back just as softly, “Um, Amillia, I really don’t think now is the time for you to lose your nerve. And if we’re blending in then why the hell are we moving away from the tables and everyone out there?”
Ha! She thought to herself. If only he knew who just walked down those stairs just now. That’s her secret though, a blast from the past, a past that she isn’t too willing to deal with at this time. She had made the man a promise, one she intends to keep too, just not now, not when her sister is so close, unaware of who she is, and in close proximity to the very man who would kill her without thinking twice about it.
Cole is on a whole new level, one that Amillia is certain Jayven has never faced before. While yes, Jayven is a hunter, he has never encountered the family of hunters. A family blessed by the god of war and hunting to protect mortals and innocents. That’s what they Wyatt’s are. Although, they no longer serve their god, they serve the lord of darkness and have for quit a while now. Hopefully that will be a battle for another day though, Amillia isn’t wanting to instigate a war before she and her sisters are reunited.
Seeing Cole here, tonight, has brought back painful memories. That man has done more harm than good since she has known him. Sometimes she wishes she had never met him, that his family had never made an appearance in the clearing where her aunt lived. She still doesn’t quite understand how they managed the approval, but there’s a reason for everything, even them living where they are not supposed to.
Now’s not the time though, there’s more important things going on than her haunting past. Amillia wants to make herself invisible while still being able to keep an eye on everyone. She also wants to blend in because she knows Cole will be surfing the crowd with his eyes, he’s to paranoid not too. If he’s here than that means Amillia’s hunch has been right and this is indeed where her sister is, at least now she knows that while the majority of her powers are locked away, and will be until she reunites with her sisters, what little power she has does work. They had tracked Natalia here from thousands of miles away. Above all, she feels a bit proud of herself. Now, just to find her in this mansion and get the hell out of here without drawing anyone’s attention to them.
After locating a desolated area in the back of the room, away from prying eyes, Amillia and Jayven spend time searching to see if they could possibly see someone who may look as if Amillia could be related to them. Of course, her baby sister wouldn’t still look the same as she had the last time Amillia saw her, considering she was just a baby back then, well, Natalia was about three years old back then, but she’s all grown up these days.
It didn’t take long for Amillia to notice a girl shying away from everyone at the opposite end of the ball room. She has long raven black hair, hair so black it’s almost has a blue tint to it, and her eyes. They all have the same eyes, and this girl has the same rare eyes that Amillia herself has. The girls isn’t very tall, none of the women in the Black family are though, and she is dressed immaculately.
It’s obvious that this girl feels out of place, but she keeps her eyes on one of the three men standing at the front of everyone giving a speech. The youngest of the three. She’s looking at him as if she is proud of him and waiting for him to come save her all at the same time.
The speech part of the galas are probably the most boring part of the whole event every time. Just because Amillia hasn’t been to one this time around in this world doesn’t mean that she hasn’t been to one ever before in her life. Why do rich people feel as if everyone has nothing better to do than hear them speak words that are half assed and not meaningful?
Amillia nudges Jayven, “That’s her,” she whispers and nods her head in the direction of the woman standing alone against the wall at the other end of the room. She keeps inching toward the door not to far from her as if she’s wanting to leave and get away.
Now to figure out how to get to Natalia and get out of this place without anyone noticing them, or her missing. That’s going to be the hard part. Cole being here makes everything that much more complicated because who knows how many people he actually has with him, hiding and waiting. He would be the first one to notice something is off and alert everyone and anyone to figure out what’s going on. Amillia never did bother trying to meet his entire family, she met enough and of the one’s she did met she wasn’t too fond of but like two; and that’s out of at least seventy. He pretty much controls their whole family considering that they all are supposed to be working together “for the greater good”.
The Wyatt family is a huge family, expanding as many generations, much as the Black family, except the Wyatt family produced way more offspring. It’s rare for a blood member of the Wyatt family to produce just one or two heirs, no they go for like five plus children in their lifetime, therefore expanding the family to numbers beyond what anyone actually knows.
Amillia keeps her eye on the girl in the shadows. It’s obvious that she is very uncomfortable being in this room. One thing that Amillia notices is that she’s not the only one who is keeping a close eye on the girl, Cole is also keeping a very close eye on the girl, which is going to make getting to her very difficult. Also, the youngest man at the head of the room is also watching closely, he even gives her a reassuring half smile at one point in time which makes Amillia wonder what is going on between the two of them.
Amillia elbows Jayven in the side once again to get his attention. “We can’t stay too long, the first chance we get I’m grabbing and leaving, and not the same way we came, so stay close, I’d hate to leave you behind.” She says in a voice so low that he can barely hear her.
Just as the speech is ending and food is being brought out to all the seated guests Amillia notices that the woman she’s had her eyes on has decided to slip out a side door. Luckily the men that had been standing at the head of the room are now setting and wouldn’t be able to see too much that is going on around them. Not thinking twice about it, Amillia follows. She can’t lose sight of her now, not that she’s finally this close to one of them, and at least this time it shouldn’t end the way it had when she had been as close to Leyla.
Jayven is the only one who noticed that they weren’t the only one’s following this woman out the side door. One of the men that had been standing at the top of the room while the speech was being given is following as well. He’s the youngest one of them all, and he seemed to rush toward the door that Amillia and the stranger had disappeared through, Jayven quickened his steps following behind.
Natalia ran through one of the doors that leads to the foyer where the marble steps are. She hates disappointing Khalil, who really wanted her to be at the gala tonight, but she couldn’t help the feeling that all eyes were on her in that room. She felt suffocated and couldn’t escape, she needed to escape. Her plan is to just go back to her room and wait until the end of the night then find Khalil and apologize for being the runaway that she is attempting to be.
“Wait,” Amillia said louder than necessary in the empty foyer echoing off the walls. The effect is all the same and Natalia stops ascending the steps, frozen.
This is not the first time she’s heard that voice, she’s heard it before in her dreams, and her nightmares. Realization strikes her hard when Natalia figures out that she has seen this day before, not too long ago, in a dream. She almost knows what’s going to happen and is dreading it, wondering if things will go the same or if everything will be different in reality.
Natalia turns around and faces the person the voice belongs too, something she’s never done before, and she gasps. There’s only slight differences between the person standing in front of her and herself. She’s never met anyone with eyes like hers before.
The woman slowly walks towards her. “My name’s Amillia,” she introduces herself.
Natalia hesitates for a moment but responds by telling her name to this woman.
Amillia takes another few steps toward Natalia not quite sure what she’s going to do, she just knows she needs to at least be within arm’s length of her before they are soon interrupted. Hopefully Jayven isn’t too far behind before the man, or men, who had been watching Natalia in the ballroom decide to join them.
“Natalia, I need you to please listen to me. I know that you don’t know me, but I swear that I’m just here to try to help you,” Amillia says right before the door behind them opens and one of the men from earlier that Amillia had spotted keeping eyes on Natalia walks through the door, Jayven very close behind him.
