Happy Together
"What do you want Papa to do here?"
Mario's jaw tightened. His eyes stared intently at James Franklin Harald who was his father. Currently, the 50-year-old man is visiting the hospital with his wife.
Even though he knew his presence was not expected, James was determined to immediately resolve the dispute between himself and his son. For him, there was nothing in this world that could not be solved. That's why, whatever happened next, he had thought about it from a long time ago.
"I know you're still angry, Calvin. But we have to solve this somehow so that the misunderstandings don't continue."
Mario smiled weakly. Currently in the treatment room, only himself, Aurora, and his parents who suddenly came to visit.
Actually, Mario himself was lazy to meet his father. But, out of respect for his mother, he couldn't help but let them both be in his wife's room for a while.
"There is nothing more that needs to be discussed between us, Pa. I think everything is very clear. Papa's goal the other day to bring Aurora was clearly to separate my little family. What kind of father would have the heart to separate his son's family?"
James took a deep breath. Seeing the anger mixed with emotion implied on Mario's face, he used to guess that his son didn't seem the least bit willing to give him a chance to speak.
Actually, it's only natural that Mario could be this angry. But, what he does is also for the common good. Only, it could be the wrong way.
"Papa knows you are very angry right now. But, really, you have to hear what Papa will explain first."
"No need," shook Mario once again. "I'm not the least bit interested in hearing Papa's explanation. Especially after knowing that it was Papa who deliberately put Jacob in the apartment, where Aurora lived while in Germany. Really, Pa. I don't accept the indecent act that Jacob has done to my wife. You should have understood about it."
Aurora, who was lying down hugging her baby, seemed to be listening silently. Actually, I don't want to see my husband get involved in a fight like this.
From the start, Aurora realized that she was the most guilty because she had embarrassed both sides of the extended family. Because of his stupid actions, his father-in-law intends to separate him from Mario. That's why, if you are looking for the mastermind behind all the events that have happened, you should make yourself the main suspect in the chaos that has occurred.
Meanwhile, Diana stood in her position, seen reading the situation. Noticing very closely how her husband and son were involved in an argument, she also intended to mediate.
"Calvin..." Diana called softly. Reviewing a thin smile, trying to calm the son. "Lower your emotions, son. I know you are so angry and upset. But, it is better to give your Papa a chance to speak. Let Papa explain what he wants to explain."
"But, Mama..."
She shook her head. Gesturing for the son to obey what he said.
"Since childhood, Mama has taught you to respect other people, right? If someone makes a mistake and wants to apologize and give an explanation, give him a chance. In the end, you are free to decide or make a decision. Do you need to forgive or stick with your choice? ."
Mario fell silent. He could at least refute what his mother had said or ordered. From the beginning, it was his mother who always managed to calm and convince him to do something or to make a decision.
Then, he turned to Aurora. Staring deeply as if asking, is it necessary to comply with his father's request to listen to his explanation.
While Aurora herself seemed to understand, immediately nodded. So, like it or not, Mario complied with the request of the two most precious women in him.
"Fine..." Mario said slowly and more calmly. Not as fiery as before. "I'll give Papa a chance to talk. But I won't promise to forgive what happened."
James nodded and breathed a sigh of relief. Delighted, the son finally gave in and was willing to give him a chance to explain.
"Earlier, deep down, Papa was sorry. Papa knows that you are so angry about what Papa has done. Just so you know, from the start Papa had no intention of separating you from Aurora."
"Then why did Papa force Aurora to divorce me?"
"Calvin..." Diana called. "Give your Papa a chance to speak first until finished. Make it a habit not to interrupt an old man who is talking."
Mario pulled the words that wanted to leave his lips. Choose silence and return to calm. Listening to his father continue his explanation.
"Really, the news that was circulating really embarrassed Papa, Mario. Papa even had a discussion with your Mama about what had happened. However, he made sure that his wife was a good woman. Not to mention that you loved her so much and tried to protect her. It's just that there's something that's really bothering Papa. To be honest, Papa is afraid that Aurora will play with you. "This method is used by Papa to see if Aurora really loves you or not. Papa just wants to see what efforts he is making to prove that he really loves you."
"But why do you have to involve Jacob, Pa? Why did Papa let Jacob touch my wife?! I don't accept this one thing."
James took a deep breath. Trying very hard to calm Mario so that his emotions do not explode.
"Papa purposely brought and then asked Jacob to keep an eye on Aurora in the apartment. In fact, he ordered her to try to flirt. Just to find out, did Aurora get carried away and reciprocate what Jacob did or could she still take care of herself. Papa admits, for this one thing Papa gone too far."
"Daddy is too much."
"But, in the end, Aurora proved that she can take care of herself, right? Papa is also very sure that Aurora really loves you too."
"Still, Papa's actions are unforgivable."
Mario remained in his stance. It was very difficult for him to forgive what his father had done. Especially when you remember how Jacob tried to touch Aurora.
"Calvin..." Diana called again. "Mama knows what your daddy did really hurts her. Mama also doesn't justify it. But, here your papa has apologized and admitted his mistake, right? Won't you give him a chance?"
"Ma...Papa has gone too far."
"Mama knows. But, what did he do because he wanted to protect you, even though his method was undeniably wrong. It's just, Mama begs him. Instead of cultivating hostility, why don't we just forgive each other? Let's go back to building a happy family together. Especially when now comes new member to our extended family."
Mario was unmoved. Still can't make a decision. He was still hurt by what his father had done.
"Mario..." This time it was Aurora who spoke. According to him, he needs to take part in being a mediator in the conflict that is currently happening. "I don't think all this needs to be extended. It's good that you forgive Papa. I'm not even the slightest bit angry about what I've received. I consider it payment for the stupidity I've done. Most importantly, we're all back together. And now , better focus on the presence of our child."
Mario took a deep breath. Seeing the hopeful glow that Aurora was emitting, he couldn't help but finally melt, then nodded. After all, being hostile is also not the right choice.
"All right. I assume all of this is over."
James smiled broadly. He stepped closer to his son, then burst into a hug. Hugging Mario tightly while continuing to chant his apologies.
"Papa promises something like this will never happen again."
"I'm sorry too, Pa. I really can't be separated from Aurora."
"Dad knows," James said later. Then turned to Aurora, then threw a smile so warm. "I'm sorry Papa too Aurora. Papa has made it difficult for you. Really, Papa doesn't want you and Calvin to separate. Papa hopes that the mistakes that Papa has made can be forgiven."
Aurora smiled back then nodded.
"I'm sorry too, Pa. I'm really sorry because my stupid actions have embarrassed the Harald extended family."
"Never mind Aurora, no need to prolong it. It's better for us to have fun while welcoming a tiny baby into our big family."
In the end all kinds of problems and misunderstandings can be resolved. Now all that's left is happiness. And Mario swore that from this moment his family must continue to feel happy. There is no more sadness let alone parting.
