Chapter 39 Poisoned

I felt Cassy stiffened and I sensed her fear from the sudden changed in my voice. Then she spoke, "Xenon was poisoned." She said in hurry but her voice is quivering in concern.

"I told you not to tell her!" His voice was struggling but anger and worry are evident in it.

I was frozen on my spot. He was poisoned... He's in pain. I felt my eyes turned dark.

"I'm sorry, I was lost for a moment. I didn't realize I told her.-" she's explaining frantically.

"Xenon, don't push yourself too much. Just lay down." Drena said in a calm voice. I can hear his breathing but... he's struggling to breathe.

"Give the phone to Adrian," I demanded using my calm voice but it was partly hard.

My normal voice is cold, I'm covering it with plain blank trying not to scare anyone. I've been learning it for years, but just now, it's hard to control.

I sensed her nodded and walked, "Adrian, she wants to talk to you." her voice laced with worry.

"Does he have any allergy?" I immediately asked while looking for the right medicine in my secret hiding place.

"No-." His voice broke. I took the antidote and placed it in my pocket.

"Since when?" My voice was plain but partly hard, demanding a direct answer.

I am now holding the key of my Ducati, I took my black hooded jacket and wear it as I placed myself in the window.

"Just this afternoon, an hour ago. Claire, he's gonna be okay. He's gonna be okay-" He's frantically saying words as worry is evident in his voice. He's not the normal calm Adrian I know...

I jumped down and started running.

"Pri-" before Carlo continue, I looked at him and he was shocked to see my eyes. He's afraid every time he saw my eyes turned dark it follows with red. He nodded in understanding and I jumped on the wall.

"Why didn't you brought him to the hospital?" I'm calm but inside, I can't decipher.

I sensed him stopped pacing "We're not allowed to go out, we don't have permission and the head isn't here." He's scared for his friend...

I suddenly tightened the hold in my phone as my other hand clenched. Mr. Baron. "Don't let him fall asleep," I ordered not realizing my voice turned cold. I sensed him stiffened.

"I- I don't think I can." He stuttered. So, He's weakening. I jumped in my black Ducati.

"Give him the phone," I demanded using my plain voice.

I sensed him walked "Xen, Xenon, she wants to talk to you. Xenon, Claire wants to talk to you." He's waking him up.

"Claire?" His voice was soft but so weak. I can hear my heart pounding so fast.

"Don't sleep, okay?" I said plainly asking.

"I miss you, I-I wanna s-see you." He's weakening... Struggling with his words and... he's avoiding my plea.

"Promise me don't sleep," I said as I started the engine.

"I want to kiss you." He said but more likely a whisper. My heart frantically beating so hard. What's happening to me?

"Then, stay awake until tomorrow for my kiss," I stated. Did I just say that!? I felt him freezes for a moment.

"You- you'll kiss me?" His voice lights up, trying to make himself strong.

"If you're awake," I stated blankly, there's no turning back. I have my words.

"I will." His voice was weak but I sensed his smile. Suddenly, my eyes turned back to their normal brown color.

I ended the call and run my bike the fastest I can.

He's strong. Xenon is strong. He can handle it for more hours. From what I heard in Xenon's voice, the poison is deadly. But with his strength, he can last it for hours.

I reached the school for 3 and a half hours at the fastest speed I can. I immediately went to the Insigma Fighters Mansion. I sneaked towards their electrical box and operated it, so the electricity will turn off after 2 minutes.

I smelled Xenon's room so I went towards his window and hide behind it. Inside his room are Adrian, Lucas, and Drena staying beside him.

Lucas and Adrian wear their puffy red eyes, they cried... while Drena is still crying.

Then the lights turned off, Adrian went out to look for the problem while Drena went out to look for a light.

This is my cue, I shot the needle to Lucas, this time it will make him fall into a deep slumber. When his breathing went slow and steady it means he falls asleep.

I went inside, I can hear the faint heartbeat of Xenon. He's still alive... he did try his best to stay awake. I compliment him for it, but now, he's dying...

I took the antidote out of my pocket but I forgot to bring the droplet controller, and I need to put it down on his esophagus so that it will lead through his throat down to his stomach. One drop only or he will overdose.

I decided to put a drop on my forefinger and opened his mouth, I let it flow down to his esophagus. But there's no effect, it was stuck on his throat. He needs to swallow it, but he's unconscious!

So I did one thing, I opened his mouth once again slightly and let my lips met his. I froze, his lips are so soft... it made me forgot my intention for a moment, but his weak heart made me aware of it.

I blow air in his mouth giving the force so that the antidote will continue to flow down to his whole body. I can't see the effect yet. Then, I heard footsteps coming in.

"Swallow it, please," I said softly in his ears. My voice... it was soft, why? He made it soft, for the first time in years... for years.

I decided to go out before the person opens the door. I stand straight and started walking towards the window, but, I sensed him moving his throat. I glanced at him maybe I was wrong, he's not moving, he can't, it's just his faint heartbeat that is.

I continue walking towards the window after I gave one last glance at him.

The moment I placed myself on the window, I freeze. His heartbeat stopped. I felt the world stopped. Did the world stop? My heart... It's beating so fast again but in different way. It does not seem to be in a good way, it seems bad.

I looked at him and my mind was clouded by nothing it seems to have stopped. Suddenly, the door opened and I was brought back to reality.

She saw me before I jumped down. Halfway before I fall on the ground I hold on to the tube and then swing my body on the side hard to go up to the roof.

"Claire?" I heard Drena called in almost a whisper. Then, I sensed her run towards the window and looked down, but she found nothing. She must have thought it's just her imagination. I hope.

The electricity turned on as I sit down on his roof feeling him underneath me but I can't feel him. I can't hear his heartbeat, I can't hear his breathing, he is lifeless. He's dead.

My heart is pounding so fast and so hard, it's like I can't feel it anymore. I can't hear my own heartbeat.

Suddenly, I heard someone screaming, and then running footsteps and... cries.

Everything gets blurry I can see red and then darkness. She's yelling to get out, she's hungry for a kill. Then I realized it's not just her, I am too. My body is yearning for a kill. Mr. Baron.

I suddenly stand up, I'm out of control of myself, what is this? She's not in control too.

Then I realized, no, we are working together. My eyes are turning red and dark, it is changing colors. We are both in control...

I looked around and then I saw it, it's so far from here but it's one of the tallest buildings, so the roof is seen. Mr. Baron's building.

My feet moved and when I aim to jump down. I stopped.
