"What kind of man are you? You do this to your mate--" Ryan began and I growled.
"What about your second chance?" I shot back and Ryan snarled darkly. He bared his fangs in rage and gripped my shirt collar.
"Don't you dare bring Nancy into this. Don't you dare! I love that girl, I'm waiting! I know what I want in life. When she's old enough I'll have my Nancy. I can't say the same for you. By the way she was acting and crying, I wouldn't be surprised if Amelia leaves you like a dead dog on the side of the road!" Ryan spat emotions running amok in his eyes.
"I--"
"And don't you ever question me about Nancy, she is my mate; I'll fight you like you don't mean a damn thing to me Alpha Kaden." Ryan growled and pushed me harder into the wall.
"Ryan stop." I growled and he snarled.
"Shut up!" He yelled.
Suddenly his eyes took on an even more hostile blaze and a rumble festered in his throat. He bared his fangs and growled, "Your mate is out there being comforted by another."
I felt something twinge in my stomach, "Who?" I asked.
Ryan eyed me darkly and corked an eyebrow, "Noah. The guy from the bar. I dare say, you've already lost her. To a stranger, they'd appear to be mates." Ryan spoke in a casual tone. Knight howled in mingled pain and rage.
Before I knew it I was marching toward the office doors.
"Oh no. You're not going anywhere. You don't care. Remember?" Ryan growled and blocked my way. I pushed against him and he stood his ground.
"Move." I snarled.
"No. You're gonna stay here." Ryan growled and shoved me back. My chest heaved in anger.
"You don't order me around Beta." I spat and soon we were fighting.
I snarled as he punched me in the jaw and we crashed to the floor as I tackled him. After throwing many punches Ryan gave me a hard right hook and I stumbled to the side, my ears ringing.
"She going to leave you. And when she does don't come crying to me." Ryan snarled as he stood tall and wiped his bleeding lip. I stood as well and bared my fangs at him.
"Let her leave then. I don't give a fuck." I snarled and the Beta scowled.
"Keep saying that. I feel sorry for her. She got stuck with you as a mate." Ryan spat and shook his head.
"Why are you so worried about it?" I growled and he frowned.
"I care about her." Ryan retorted and his wolf howled in rage.
Suddenly Knight snarled inside before whining and I felt him collapse as pain rippled through me. I gasped and fell to my knees as wheezing breaths escaped from me.
It hurts, doesn't it? Feel what I've been going through. Knight growled as my heart wrenched repeatedly and pain overtook everyone of my nerves. I stood up swaying on my feet and Ryan wrinkled his nose in disgust.
"So Knight let you finally feel the pain? You deserve it. You deserve to be ripped apart." Ryan snarled and abruptly he lunged at me and I didn't fight him as his teeth sunk into my neck. For a moment I tried to push him off, but the blood was already gushing. Knight wouldn't help either, he'd gone to howl in the depths of myself.
I looked at Ryan and closed my eyes as everything blurred, accepting it.
He was right.
Amelia's POV
I heard yelling and went towards it.
Noah had left once I pulled myself together.
My wolf growled as she scented Kaden and I made my way toward his office where the yells were coming from. It sounded like him and Ryan were arguing.
For a moment I paused outside the door until I heard a horrible sound. The hairs on the back of my neck stood as I flung open the door. Pain blossomed in my chest as I saw Ryan's fangs buried into Kaden's throat. Blood was spilling and Kaden was just standing there not defending himself.
"Ryan stop!" I screamed and ran to them. I pulled at the Beta's shoulder and with a snarl he released Kaden and fixed the Alpha with an enraged glare. His eyes blazed with a destructive fire and he gave a throaty huff. His fingers were clawed and they were cover with the crimson liquid. Blood was everywhere.
"You should've let me finish him." Ryan spat looking at Kaden, but talking to me. Blood marred the Beta's mouth and the Alpha leaned against the wall paled and holding his bleeding throat.
"You don't mean that." I told Ryan and he gave a scoff. After a moment of silence he sighed.
"He can clean himself up, come on Amelia, don't help him. The dick needs to help himself." Ryan growled and stopped me from going any closer to him. Rain was on edge and whining at the sight of her wounded mate, yet part of her was satisfied.
"But Ryan-" I began.
"Don't help him, there's no point." The Beta cut me off and my feelings of concern started to dwindle. I lowered my head and looked away from Kaden.
Ryan was right... Why should I care about someone who doesn't care for me?
"Come." Ryan growled and his claws went away as well as his fangs. He gripped my hand and we left the Alpha to care to himself.
"Battles make us strong, but the waring tires us out."
Amelia's POV
Ryan and I sat in the living room. The air was quiet. It had been hours since the incident in the office and things had cooled off, though I'd only seen Kaden once I knew he was just boiling inside because of the fight. Ryan was brooding on the couch beside me looking to be deep in thought. Pack members flowed in and out inaudibly. The atmosphere was heavy with a slightly tense feeling.
And then out of nowhere everything went to hell.
The front door burst open and in rushed a young boy, he seemed about five. All eyes turned to him as he waved his hands frantically.
"There's a lot of bad wolves outside!" He said and a teen ran in after him. Eligha.
"We're under attack. There's at least fifty rouges that just crossed our borders. Me and Jace ran back as fast as we could, Luna; Beta." Eligha puffed glancing at me and Ryan. The whole house came alive with shouts.
"Okay, did they say anything?" I asked and the little boy Jace looked at me with wide eyes.
"They said they were gonna kill everyone if they didn't find dem?" Jace said looking confused and for a moment I smiled at his adorable face. His light brown hair was ruffled and his brown eyes shown.
One day, we'll have a cute little pup. Rain said dreamily and I shook her out of my thoughts. This wasn't the time to be fawning over what may be.
"Them. They meant them." Eligha corrected and Jace nodded, but still seemed confused.
"Who?" Ryan asked and Eligha shook his head.
"They didn't say. We left." The young teen said and I blew out a breath.
"Get the children and elders in a safe place. Everyone else prepare to fight." A deep voice growled and I glanced at the Alpha who'd finally made an appearance. His hair was messy, his eyes glowed, his jaw ticked. He looked pissed, good as new, but pissed all the way off.
He didn't make eye contact with me, but he did glower at Ryan. The Beta met his gaze before turning away with a soft growl.
We really don't have time for this tension. I thought and frowned before turning towards the door. Outside I could hear faint yells and howls.
They were almost here.
"Come on everyone." I said and, not waiting for the Beta or Alpha, led my pack members outside.
We all stood outside and growls rose up as the rouges came into view. They came closer and closer and when they'd reached a certain point we all surged forward.
We met head on and bodies collided and blood began spilling.
I watched as the wolves attacked my pack and my blood boiled in anger. Wolves were falling left and right, some of them our own. Rain howled in rage as we made our way through the fighting taking out rouges on the way.
I growled as a rouge came my way. It was a man, his black hair dirty and unkempt. His dull eyes stared at me and I suppressed the urge to shudder. His eyes looked dead. He gave a wicked red-stained grin and I sneered in return. His eyes flickered as he stepped toward me.
