"Not everyone is as they seem."
Amelia's POV
"Hold still Luna." One of the pack doctors said as she checked me over.
She examined the scaring on my stomach and sighed.
"I think you'll be just fine. It's healing nicely." She said and I nodded. She gave me a shot in the arm and with a soft pat sighed, "Okay that'll speed up the process, but it makes you drowsy so make sure to get a good rest in as soon as possible."
"Alright. Thank you." I said and the doctor gave me a smile.
I grunted as I stood from the examination chair and with a respectful nod to the doctor I left the room.
With a sigh I made it toward my room and entered sleepily. The medicine was working fast. With a huff I collapsed on the bed and managed to wrap the covers around me before falling asleep.
I woke up with a yawn and glanced around in confusion.
What day was it?
I peered around and by checking my phone I found out that I'd only slept two hours. Stifling another yawn, I got out of bed and wandered out of the room.
The house was ominously quiet and I scanned the place finding no sign of Kaden, but I did find Ryan.
"Ryan, do you know where-" I began.
"He's with the rogue, in the cellars." Ryan said and gave me a long look.
"I almost felt bad for the kid, but he tried to attack Nancy and attacked you so it faded." The beta said and I nodded softly before heading to the cellars.
The reek of blood was thick before I even made it all the way down the stairs and Rain wrinkled her nose at its powerful odor.
It wasn't long before I was walking down the corridors and I frowned at the smell. Finally I came across the alpha and young boy.
My eyes scanned the rogue and alpha and my heart sunk. The crimson liquid was everywhere and the young rogue was slumped on the ground, bruised and bloody, and looked to be dead. The alpha stood over him glaring down at the unmoving boy.
"What are you doing down here?" Kaden growled and I couldn't find any words. His gaze was on me now.
I ignored Kaden as I looked at the boy. He suddenly moved and pushed himself up into a sitting position. Blood dripped down his face and his right eye was swollen shut. He looked over at me and I shuddered inwardly.
"You're Luna Amelia right, the she-wolf I talked to earlier?" The younger boy sputtered and I raised an eyebrow shooting a glance at Kaden.
"Why?" I asked.
"So you are. Well, I'm Brenton." The boy tried to stand but was quickly knocked down by Kaden. He looked from me to the alpha and back before sighing and his head bowed for a moment.
"Stay there." Kaden spat.
Finally the boy looked back at me and a soft light shown in his dark eyes. His tongue passed quickly over his lips before he sighed, "I'm your brother," he gave a weak smile, "Hey sis."
I frowned in utter confusion.
"Truth can cause more pain than a lie."
Kaden's POV
"What?" I growled before anyone could speak.
"That's my sister." The boy said and gave me a slightly concerning smile. A frown began to crease my brows. I glanced over at Amelia and she stared at the boy wide-eyed.
"I have no siblings." She said shaking her head and the boy laughed.
"Tell that to our mother. She'll set you straight." The boy said and Amelia paused for a long time.
"My mother's dead." She finally growled and the boy shook his head an amused smirk on his face.
"No she's not. She's alive, she's the Commander." The boy said and suddenly I thought of what Alpha Kaunt had said that night.
She'd looked suspiciously familiar... like a rouge leading them...
"This can't be true." Amelia whispered and the boy nodded.
"Mother left your father for mine. She had me and when my father died she took over the rouges in his place." He said and pride laced his voice.
"That's... what?" Amelia said and Knight whimpered at the confusion and pain in her voice.
"She's not dead?" She whispered and the boy shook his head.
"But my dad--" Amelia choked on her words.
"Losing a mate can make someone crazy... That's what Commander says." Brenton said and Amelia's eyes blinked rapidly. She took a deep breath and nodded curtly.
"Yes... it can." Amelia's voice was soft as she watched the boy with wary eyes. She looked so... distant; it worried me.
"Amel-" I started.
"I'm fine." She snapped instantly glaring at me and Knight tucked his tail between his legs and whined softly at her sudden anger. I frowned and looked away from her.
The boy chuckled softly, "Well isn't this awkward. I mean, nah, not taking that back, its really awkward."
"So... when can I leave?" Brenton said and I snarled at him.
"You can leave in a bodybag." I growled and the boy's eyes widened.
"C'mon man, you wouldn't kill your mate's lil brother, would you?" He asked and I snorted.
"I killed her dad. What makes you any more special? You attacked us." I said raising an eyebrow and the boy tilted his head and glanced to Amelia. His eyes glinted curiously and I followed his gaze to see that she'd backed up and her eyes held a shimmering line of tears.
She looked around like she was seeing something we couldn't and suddenly she shuddered. Her mouth opened as if she was going to say something, but it quickly shut and she looked to the ground a scowl coming to her face. Tears escaped from her eyes and dripped to the ground and I felt my heart ache.
Brenton tilted his head studying her and he blinked slowly before looking away with a weird noise. His head bowed to the ground and he didn't do anything else, but look back at the sorrowful Luna and watch with an almost sad expression.
She's breaking. Knight growled and I knew he was right. By the way her breathing had sped up slightly I could tell she was going to probably burst into tears in a little while, but I didn't want that. Yet at the same time I didn't know how I was going to stop it, she wouldn't want me to touch her.
She didn't want me.
And I did, didn't, want her.
