Detention room
“Whoa, why is there a biometric test, like what the hell.” I asked speechless.
“Oh, don’t worry, as long as you are a student, anybody can access it, your biometric has been sent to the school system, before you even entered and so, it has been added to the school database. It is just to know who access a place, at any given time, in case of vandalism.” Ruby said as we saw the rest sitting down comfortably.
There was tables and chairs, then a gaming room, beds, snack joints, even mobile phones were allowed. This was the best thing ever.
“I think I have just found my favorite place in the world.” I said as I took in the view.
“Well don’t. the teachers think that detention is the worst place to be in, they have heard about the detention room, but they haven’t actually seen it. My mum made it to be purely students that could access it, and the students have to make sure that they don’t go here on a daily basis, so that we won’t get suspicious.” Ruby said as she saw Dwight waving at her.
“I see, that is really smart though. Tempting but smart.” I said as she turned to me and said.
“Well, feel free to tangle with anyone, apart from Romeo. He only talks to Jeiel, and that is very rare too.” Ruby said before going to sit with Dwight.
I looked round and saw that apart from Blondie who was currently having a make out session with hotshot. I seriously need to get their names… oh wait I do. I just don’t care, then the British dude, and his friends were talking to the minions, Jeiel was with Romeo, but they weren’t speaking and that left the twins to sit with.
Josie was already calling my name, as she waved. Hazel was busy eating some snacks that she obviously got from the snacks joint. Rolling my eyes, I decide to sit with them.
“Hey! I thought you didn’t hear me.” Josie said smiling as I sat down.
“Sorry, I must have been busy.” I said lying through the teeth.
“Keep lying, I love bitches, who lie.” Hazel said chewing her Nutellas.
“Haze, cut it out.” Josie said admonish as hazel muttered apologies.
“No worries, so how long does detention last?” I asked bringing out my headphones.
“An hour, but feel free to stay here all your life. I am going to the bed; it is way softer than mine in the dorm.” Hazel said standing up, leaving me and Josie behind.
“Well, I guess, I better read a book or something.” Josie said more to herself than to me. I wore my headphones as I laid down on the table facing Romeo, before I closed my eyes, allowing myself to plunge into the darkness.
*Romeo POV*
Detention could be such a bore at sometimes. I got to the detention room and sat down in my favorite spot beside the window, facing the sports arena. Jeiel came over and asked if she could sit beside me. I shrugged as she sat down, with her book. Jeiel, always the bookworm, always taking the first position in class. I brought out my art book as I set to complete my drawing. It was a necklace I guess; I didn’t really know what it was. I have been trying to draw it for over 12 years now, but it suddenly seemed easier, and that was three days ago. But it is kind of hard, drawing what you can’t even recollect.
I was so focused on my drawing that I didn’t even hear Jeiel calling my name.
She tapped me as I flinched, making a mistake on the drawing.
“Oh, I am so sorry, I didn’t mean to….” Jeiel said bringing out an eraser, but I declined.
“Forget about it, what do you want?” I asked between clenched jaws.
“I just… wanted to ask you if you knew this equation?” She said bringing her book towards me.
“Well… I think that it is Boyle’s law that would definitely work here, not the Gay-Lussac’s law, although it seems like it.” I said after taking a glance.
“Wow, thanks. That is a pretty necklace that you are drawing.” She added.
“Is it? Oh well…I guess it is a necklace, then.” I said scratching my head.
“Yeah, it seems familiar though, but I can’t seem to place where I saw it.” Jeiel added thoughtfully.
I immediately froze, maybe Jeiel could help me, if she shows me where she saw it, maybe I would remember why it is so deep rooted into my skull.
“Jeiel, if you happen to see it again, do not hesitate to tell me.”
“Okay I won’t.” Jeiel said heading back to her equation.
Ruby and Dwight o the other hand was having a low but heated argument.
“Come on, you have got to tell me what I did wrong?” Dwight said whispering as Ruby snubbed him for the umpteenth time.
“Like I said, nothing, so just leave me alone.” Ruby replied shrugging his hand off.
“Come on, I know it is something, you weren’t like this back in chemistry class, and now you are mad at me, tell me what I did to you.”
“Did I say that you did anything to me?” Ruby said looking at him.
“Then stop snubbing me.” Dwight said exasperated.
“If that is the case, why don’t you go spend your time with Sian, have another make out session perhaps. Maybe that would make you feel better.” Ruby said angrily.
“So it is about Sian huh, you are angry about that…...”
“I have no idea what you are talking about.” Ruby said standing up as the bell for detention rung, then she left.
