CHAPTER 17: LEAVING SCHOOL
“Who the fuck are you?” I asked looking at him.
“Ouch, that hurts. My name is Ray, the one you threw pizza at.” Ray replied raising an eyebrow.
“What a weird name to introduce yourself. Jeiel said shaking her head, as Josie and Hazel chuckled and I rolled my eyes.
“We are not other girls, you know.” Hazel muttered.
Exactly, that’s why we are following you. You are the only one to act normal around us.” Ray said slowly.
“How come we never noticed this bunch before.” Aidan asked curiously.
“Maybe it is because we don’t throw ourselves at you.” Ruby remarked.
Oh! Dwight said and fell silent. Hmm, now I wanna skip school. I checked the time, and it was 4:35. And today was sports day which obviously meant that there was no school in the first place. Call it a free day playing through out, and I hated sports so, what do I have to lose skipping the rest of today.
“Morons and weirdos, let’s skip school.” I said,
“Now you are talking!” Dwight grinned.
“Awesome.” Ruby squealed
“I’m in the mood for ice creams…and Nutellas.” Hazel said.
“Starbucks here we come!” ray exclaimed.
“Whatever. Romeo grumbled. What the… he was here all this while, playing videos game as usual. How did I not notice him?
“And Romeo is paying.” Ruby yelled as she dragged Jeiel and headed for the parking lot.
“Wait what,” Romeo said baffled.
“Yeah, bro you are paying.” Aidan said as he dragged Josie and headed for the lot also.
“Hey, wait for me.” Hazel said running towards them.
“Urgh, this people are slow.” Ray said as him and Dwight took off.
“Who the hell are you calling slow, shitface.” Romeo yelled but he was already gone.
I shook my head and felt his gaze on me.
Great, now it was just the two of us. Fan-fucking-tastic, Yay. I said in my mind.
“So…are we going or… I barely completed my statement, as Romeo took my hands and pulled me to the parking lot.
I saw my baby girl still parked in the same place. Oh I miss you so much. I said rushing to hug it.
“What the fuck are you doing? Romeo asked rolling his eyes.
“Hugging my baby, obviously, what does it look to you?” I asked back.
“Watching a mad psychotic girl showing affection to a piece of object in public, drawing stares on us.” Romeo said as Tiana turned and saw the juniors’ ones were slowly gathering.
“Shit, let’s get out of here.” I said climbing behind him on his bike.
He handed me a helmet, before starting the engine and zooming off. The guards didn’t even say anything, huh. Perks of being the school’s star boy.
We got to Starbucks and walked in with him leading the way. We spotted them laughing as they licked their ice-creams.
We walked to their table and took our seats but they acted like we weren’t there.
I coughed awkwardly. “Are we interrupting something?”
That’s when they turned. “You guys are here?” Hazel asked.
“No we aren’t here, it’s our ghosts that are sitting here in front of you.” I replied sarcastically.
Hazel flushed a bit as the others chuckled.
“What took you guys so long? If I didn’t know Romeo, better, I’d have said that you guys were totally…” Dwight said wriggling his eyebrows.
“Shut up, dude.” Romeo said cutting him off. We ordered our ice creams which came with complementary cookies. I took a little bite and moaned at the sweetness of it. The others looked at me weirdly.
“What? It’s delicious. Don’t blame me.” I said with my mouth full.
“Don’t talk with your mouth full.” Josie scolded as I rolled my eyes.
“Yes, mum.” I replied.
“Let’s play twenty questions.” Ray suggested.
“What are you? A child?” I scoffed.
“It will be fun, come on Jeiel, back me up here.” He looked at Jeiel with pleading eyes.
“Um, I vote…for…” jeiel said trailing off.
“Well you suckers can play it. I am not interested in knowing any of you.” I said as I brought out my phone. Although I paid attention a bit. I learned that Josie was the elder among the them, which seemed shocking, because Hazel was the out spoken one. I didn’t even know which was more shocking. The fact that Josie is the eldest or that they are actually triplets and the second one was in a competition with another school.
Great, then they were two and now they are three. I said rolling my eyes. I noticed that Romeo didn’t answer any questions, he kept looking at his phone, taking ice creams and when he was asked, who would he rather kiss in this group, his eyes instantly went to Jeiel, before he looked away and shrugged.
Typical, after all he won’t remember me. I thought taking a big scoop of my ice cream.
After that, we bought donuts as the girls shopped for some school’s stuffs like more provisions and goodies. Hazel kept on stacking Nutellas upon Nutellas. And she made sure that nobody touched any, damn she could definitely kill for a Nutella.
As usual, I didn’t buy anything or even contributed to their discussion, the only reason I tagged at all, was I needed a ride back to school and it was already late and there was safety in numbers. Romeo pulled Jeiel to a different aisle, as he picked out some things for her.
“Someone is jealous.” A voice sang at the back of my eyes. I rolled my yes already knowing who it was.
“Sorry hotshot, I am not, maybe you are, you may have a crush on her. I said winking at him.
“Sorry, I don’t do girls… I mean, I don’t like her.” Aidan said trying to cover up his earlier statement. I frowned at him, as the rest gathered.
“Well, it’s time to go. Night out is by 10, and its already getting to 9:30. Ruby said after they had paid for their stuffs and got it in a take away back.
Finally, I said rolling my eyes. This has been a very long day. I muttered as we all headed to the parking lot. This time, around Romeo and Jeiel got on his bike, while I was paired up with the twins and Ray.
Great. I muttered as we entered his sweet ride and put on our seatbelts before Ray reversed the car and headed for the school.
I soon, fell asleep on Josie’s shoulders after listening to the soft hum of the engine.
