CHAPTER 59 - THE WEIRD CRAVINGS
After Courtney was released from the hospital, Ben asked a builder to make his penthouse spacious so Courtney can have a place for her stuff. The guest room was also transformed to a nursery but Ben asked them to leave it blank because Courtney wanted to design the room by herself. Ben ordered a queen size bed and colored his wall from full grey walls to off-white color; there is an accent wall on their headboard that matches Ben’s favorite color. It was Courtney who decided the design and make sure that Ben agreed to it.
“Good morning hun.” Ben kissed her lips.
“Morning.” She cuddled him.
During the renovation, the couple was staying at Courtney’s flat until it was time for them to move in at Ben’s place once it’s completed. There were given a rough estimation of two to three weeks but the home builders managed to finish the project in 2 ½ weeks.
“Did you sleep well?” He wrapped his hand around her waist.
“Yeah, what about you?” Courtney finally looked up to him.
Ben fell asleep late last night since he finished tidying up Courtney’s personal belongings inside the cabinet since he refused his fiancée to move a finger. He also received a lot of tips from Carlos and appreciated the scenarios he often told him that he was able to experience himself.
“I did specially after I saw the sexy lingerie; I’m very much excited to see you wearing that.” Ben huskily whispered to her ear.
“Pervert!” Courtney hit his chest but he just chuckles.
“Where are you going?” He saw her moving to get up.
“My gall bladder will explode if I don’t pee.” Courtney stood up quickly.
“Wait, let me help you hunny.” Ben jumps off the bed to assist her.
After she did her business, Courtney was ordered to stay where she was standing and wait for Ben. He became very protective and attentive to every little thing that Courtney would say or do.
“Wow! I can’t believe everything was quickly done.” Courtney awed after seeing her clothes are in place.
“See, I told you I can handle that.” Ben confidently said.
“I would love to boost your ego more mister, but I’m so hungry.” Courtney rubbed her stomach.
“What would you like to eat?” He prayed it was not the same cravings she was having for two weeks now.
“Pickles wrapped in prosciutto with my favorite gelato.” She said in rush while grinning.
“All right, I’ll prepare it while you get to shower.” Ben can only groaned after he heard that strange cravings.
Just like the rest of the night, Ben made sure that it was already prepared. Proscuitto is uncooked, unsmoked and dried cured-ham usually in thin slices that belongs to cold cuts category. It all started when Courtney was having pistachio gelato and saw the pickles and the left over ham inside the fridge. She wrapped the ham around the pickles and dipped it to the gelato like it was the best food combination in the world.
“Mamà called and said to meet them at Les Figue an hour from now.” Courtney says coming from the bedroom.
“Sure, let’s get you full then.” Ben kissed her forehead and got his coffee and toast bread ready.
After breakfast, Ben drove Courtney to the shopping mall where both of their mothers are patiently waiting since they will be doing the baby shopping. Ben wanted to make sure that Courtney was supervised every minute so he asked his mother and Liliana to watch out for Courtney.
“So glad to see you both, how was the move in?” Mrs. Venoso marched towards them when they saw the couple from the entrance of the shopping mall.
“Everything is great the baby room is going to be up in no time Liliana.” Courtney answered excitedly.
“That’s great the only thing we need to do now is buy the essential furniture for the baby’s need.” Mrs. Montini happily said.
“Let’s get going then so we can have a lot of designs to choose from.” Mrs. Venoso grabbed Courtney’s hand and dragged her inside the building.
“Mamà, be careful!” Ben cautiously yelled to his mother.
“Don’t worry she’s safe with us figlio, go to the Café and attend your meeting. As soon as we’re done shopping I will personally call you and yes I memorized your reminders, no too much walking and don’t allow my daughter to lift one single handbag.” Mrs. Montini saw Ben has a worried face.
“Am I being very protective?” He touched the base of his neck.
“It’s okay Ben, actually it reminds me on how Carlos treated me when I was pregnant with Courtney. He is as protective as you are and I used to complain a lot, but now I completely understand.” Mrs. Montini placed a hand on his arm.
“I’m still really new on this pregnancy thing and I’m glad you, Carlos and Mamà are here to guide me otherwise I’ll go crazy specifically with her choices of food.” Ben smiled warmly.
“Let me guess she is still on that proscuitto and pickles with the gelato?” Mrs. Monti guessed right.
“Yeah she is, two week in a row.” Ben affirmed while chuckling.
“Just be patient figlio, once you see your child you will realized that it is all worth your hardship.” Mrs Montini advised him more.
“Thank you so much Arianna, go join my mother and Courtney. I’ll pick you all later after your shopping.” He checked the time.
“Drive safely figlio.” Mrs. Montini kissed both his cheeks before walking towards the mall’s entrance.
Inside the store, Courtney and Liliana are already scouting some furnitures like cribs, nursing chair, and changing table. Courtney made sure to take a picture of each furnitures and send it to Ben, Nicolo and Nathalia.
“I would like to get this design for all nursing chair, crib and the changing table in white please.” Courtney requested to the standby staff.
She chose the changing table with attached laundry hamper for used clothes and dirty nappies. It also has a built-in small drawer for diapers and few compartments. For baby crib, she opt the convertible design that can be converted to full adult size bed once the kid grew s up. As for the Nursing chair, she wants something that is soft and you’re feel cozy as you seat on so she took the one made from microfiber and can glide back and forth.
“Let’s head over to the cashier and pay it.” Mrs. Montini suggested and they all marched towards the payment area.
Once they were on the counter, Courtney wrote down the address as per Ben’s negotiation. He agreed to let his fiancé do the shopping but it has to be delivered.
