MARRIAGE(JESSIE'S DIARY)
Elena's Pov:
I couldn't even believe that I was doing this when the news was all over the place that Leo should be getting married. I wanted to ask him questions about it, to see if he was going to agree to the marriage arrangements. I didn't want him to. When I glanced at Kyle, his eyes were filled with slight pain and I knew he wasn't okay with the fact that I chose Leo over him. But if it was because of his marriage that Kyle thought that I'd pull away, he got it wrong. I felt bad for refusing Kyle's offer, but I felt so much safer with Leo. There was a connection between the both of us, a bond. He wasn't as muscular as Kyle, but his broad shoulders and very good stature were still top-tier. Brianne had always teased me about him, and the thought made me chuckle. I was an idiot to have gone for Aiden because he was the school's jock, an expert on the field. But at the end of it all, he was just a jerk.
Trying to occupy my mind with something else than Brianne's death, my thoughts drifted to Purity. My eyes scanned the room and I noticed she was looking for someone. Surprisingly Ken was approaching her. I cocked a brow and watched as he gave her a smile. She smiled too but I sensed her insecurity. Purity wasn't as healthy-looking as she used to be. But to me, she still had one of the most stunning beauty in the entire school. I understood her insecurity was a result of how unhealthy she was looking but then, she had a pure and beautiful heart. They began to say something that I couldn't hear from where I was and so I decided to turn away. The next thing I know is that Kyle is at the end of the room staring at me. He didn't look pleased at all, it was scary. But I wanted to approach him so that he could tell me what was going on with him. It was about Leo, I knew but I'd still never seen Kyle this way before. Could it be that it was deeper than I thought?
I approached him, and as he noticed, he stalked towards me. And while I was expecting him to say something or perhaps before I could say anything he strode past me, and the next thing I heard was the closing of the exit door. Had I done anything wrong? He was more hurt about my decision than I thought. But he didn't expect me to just change my mind and follow him did he? I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned to see Leo.
"I thought you already left," I said, trying not to sound as hurt as I felt.
"I would have but, why would I? I mean you're here." I smiled at what he said.
"I wanted to tell you this before but you haven't been replying to my texts." I lowered my gaze, that's because I was occupied with Brianne's death.
"What is it?"
He brought his phone out and tapped some things, before giving it to me. I glance at it. "Who is this?" I saw a man with stunning green eyes, a crooked nose, and thin lips, a tattooed neck with words I couldn't read, a scar that trekked from his ear to his jawline. That scar looked intentional, it couldn't have been done by mistake.
"Your father."
My head automatically jerked to him. "My what?" Ken stared blankly and nodded.
A peal of laughter escaped my lips even before I could stop it, but it was humourless. My father, alive? Was he kidding me? But when I saw the look on his face, I stopped laughing. I knew that look, a little twitch on his thick brows, and serious eyes, staring at mine. He wasn't joking, but I found it unbelievable, but it was true, my father is alive, how? After so many years, I finally get to see him. I glanced at Ken's face again, scanning to see if there was anything that stated 'lie' in it. But I found none, the rate of my heartbeat had increased. I wasn't sure whether to be happy, or confused, or even cry.
"I think you should follow me." He stated and I stopped him.
"Wait. How did you know this? Where did you get this information?" I questioned but he said nothing.
"I need you to follow me first." I did after informing Purity that I was leaving. She said her 'goodbye' while Leo and I exited the house. I entered Leo's car and he took me to his house. On arrival, my mouth hung open.
I instantly shut it, I mean, what did I expect? We got down from his car before walking towards his mansion. Through the glass, I could see someone, a little girl and a pregnant woman laughing and baking. His mother and sister, it was obvious. Then we walked into the door, and the sweet smell of strawberry cake filled my nostrils. I really loved cake.
"Hey Mom, Lorna." He called whilst his little sister ran to hug him, then he carried and turned her around both laughing. I couldn't help but smile. He would have had such a happy family if his father wasn't busy trying to get him married to an unknown person. The thought of him getting married sent flies buzzing in my stomach, he is getting married, what if you don't get the opportunity to tell him how you feel? They both have the same touch and whisper...shut up.
There really was something wrong with me these days. The feeling always appeared when I was around Leo, no matter how much I tried to ignore that feeling. It never vanished, it only grew intense. I realized that, ever since Leo had advised me about my feelings for Aiden, I knew I needed to move on, but did moving on mean growing to have feelings for another guy so soon?
