Episode 41
Ace drove home slowly through the town. it had been a very busy day at work, and he almost even got severely injured.
The drunk man had collided with their car causing great damage to the car. Luckily for Ace and his partner, there were no serious injury obtained from the incident.
The weird thing about the man was the way he acted when he was been interrogated, He spoke fluently like he was never drunk. This was quite suspicious to Ace. The thought kept on running through his mind till he got home
His little boy ran to him happily. “ Dad you're back" He exclaimed. Ace lifted him up and carried him in, He was welcomed with a kiss by Jane.
Ace showered and they all ate their dinner happily. They all soon went to their rooms to take a nap.
Ace and Jane laid on their bed with their son laying in- between them, “Good night mum, night Dad! ” He said.
“sweet dreams” Ace replied. They soon dozed off. Only Ace couldn't sleep, He was still pondering on the incident that occurred at work today.
Ace stood up and picked up his mobile phone, He stood up and walked out of the room.
He took a bottle of water from their refrigerator and gulped down some water, He stopped drinking when his phone suddenly rang. He checked the caller and it was his boss.
The time was half past ten and Ace wondered what could be the reason for the call.
He reluctantly picked up the call. “Hey Ace, you need to come here quickly. Jerry's gone!” The caller yelled.
Ace froze in shock,did he hear what he said well or he was just hallucinating!?. Ace quickly rushed to his room and changed his nightwear into a casual clothe.
He rushed out of the room leaving his wife yelling and chasing after him trying to figure out what the reason for his rush was.
Ace ignored her callings and drove in a haste go the police station, Ace saw some ambulance and police cars around the corners.
He got down from his vehicle and went in. “What in the world happened.. No,No, not again!! ” Ace exclaimed as he saw Jerry's body lying on the floor with medical personnel surrounding his corpse.
He was stabbed with a knife in his neck. “What happened ” Ace asked his colleagues, “Boss is waiting for you in his office, you should go see him now” One of the police officer said.
Ace reluctantly stood up and walked away from his friend's corpse, Tears dropped down his face as he walked away, He wiped his face with his elbow and knocked on the door.
“Come in” The director's voice said from the office, Ace reluctantly walked in and stood in front of his table. He instructed Ace to sit which he did.
“Your friend was murdered by the man you brought in earlier and he left this note " He said and handed a piece of paper to Ace.
Ace took the piece of paper and stared at the words written on it, “THE EXPLOSION, A LITTLE GIRL, THE WHITE VAN” were the three words written on the paper.
“Do you know what those words mean” He asked Ace. “no, where's the man now" Ace asked.
“He somehow escaped but we have a picture of him and the footage of how he escaped after attacking and successfully killing Jerry ” The Director said.
“Can you just give me a picture of him” Ace asked. “Sure you and Brian would be assigned on the investigation” The Director said.
Ace nodded and took the pics the Director brought out from his shelve and walked out of his office, He stared at the body of his friend once more. “I don't know why he did this but am sure am gonna get him, I promise! ” Ace said to the corpse.
He then walked out and drove back home.
Ace got home to meet his wife sitting on their door step looking very worried. He walked to her looking sober.
“What's wrong” Jane asked as Ace reluctantly walked to her, “Jerry's gone!” Ace said and a tear dropped down his face.
He was trying as much as possible to control his emotions but was finding it too hard, He hugged Jane tightly as more tears dropped down his face.
“Am so sorry honey " Jane said and hugged her tightly, Ace soon let go of her and held her hands, He walked in with Jane.
It's been already five years since Greg's dead and no one has been disturbing them for any reasons so Ace was sure it was not someone involved in their previous life.
Ace is now happily married to Jane and they have a kid, Annie was married to Shaw and Phil was barely heard of, He once in a blue moon, checks on Ace and his family.
And oh yeah Jerry, He was moving from relationships to another. Ace recently advised him of getting too old and should get married anytime soon, They laughed it off and Jerry promised go get himself a good wife.
And now he's gone!. Ace laid on his bed and thought of the problem he has faced previously and which was starting again.
He sighed and stood up, He picked his phone and walked out of the room, He dialed Shaw's number.
“Hey men, how's your kid and wife " Shaw said with excitement as he picked up the call, It's been about some weeks since he has heard from him.
Shaw now lives in another city with his wife and their two children. “Shaw, Jerry's is dead ” Ace said with a sour voice.
“ He's dead!?, oh my god. what the hell happened! " Shaw asked in shock. “He was murdered by one of our prisoners " Ace replied.
“Am so sorry!" Shaw said. Ace dropped the phone and sighed, He still couldn't believe what happened, He now senses danger.
“He murdered Jerry for a reason, he his obviously after me too.. ” Ace said and went back to his room.
