Chapter 65
"Why didn't you tell me about this? Why didn't you?!" She yelled, raising her already red eyes to look at him.
"Cause I knew you'd react this way."
"You didn't have the right to keep it from me. I lost a baby and I didn't even know!" She yelled, moving back for him to grab her arm.
"Ashley please stop telling me you're not strong yet.."
"Leave me the fuck alone, 'cause you made me yell!" She yelled, running out of the room.
Running into hers, she slammed the door shut and locked it from the inside.
She was so stupid.
How come she didn't even know that she had a baby?
Oh, God! It was so hurting.
She didn't even know why it was this hurting but she could feel her heart aching so badly as if a thousand needles were prickling her heart little by little.
"Ashley baby..open the door." He begged, knocking on the door but all she could do was cover her mouth as she sat on the floor beside her bed, crying hard.
"Baby...I couldn't lose you. We can always have another baby but I'll never get to see you if you were to go...please just open the door, Ashley." He mumbled.
Ashley rubbed her nose, as the sobs had stopped coming out but then the tears were still falling as if she had a bucket of tears somewhere in her eyes.
But then....why did he order the death of the child he so badly wanted?
"Baby...I couldn't lose you.." It sounded back into her eyes and she hiccupped with another sob that tore out of her throat.
He had done it for her...
She looked up and saw the door knob turned and then the door opened.
He had the spare key!
"Baby.." He cooed, walking towards her and sitting on the floor as well.
She shifted away and he did too.
She did it again and as if they had begun to dance..he did it again and she frowned.
She did it again and he did too and she chuckled amidst tears.
"Will you stop that?"
"Will you stop crying...please I can't stand seeing you in tears baby." He mumbled and she huffed.
"Why didn't you tell me about it?"
"You're sick Ashley and seeing you breaking down like this is... it's not really.."
"You wanted a child."
"That was in the past." He said and she looked up surprised.
"You don't want a child again?"
"I do but till we get it, I don't care when but it's you I want." He said, lifting his finger to clean her face which was covered in tears line.
"You're not going to leave me because I don't have the child you so wanted?"
He laughed.
"It wasn't the child I wanted but the woman. And yes, I'm not leaving you, just so you know it's not up to a year...why the hell would I leave you?" He said, and her eyes widened as that of a little child.
"So you're trying to say you'll leave me when it's up to a year? When the contract is over and nulled. You'd leave?" She asked again and he sighed.
What the hell was going on in that small little head of hers?
"Look at me, Ashley." He mumbled and she raised her head to look at him.
"I'm not leaving you for anyone in this world. You're mine and you'll remain mine no matter what happens! You'll carry my child..no children and we'll live in a cool place with nothing to worry about, okay?" He cooed and a small smile appeared on her face as she leaned forward and buried her face in his chest.. inhaling his sweet cologne which she loves so much.
"I'll stay with you. I'll never leave you too." She said and he chuckled.
"Are you sure about that Mrs. Mazza?" He asked and she nodded.
"I'm sure about it." She mumbled and hugged him tighter.
"I've got the..." He trailed off and she raised her head, cocking her brows.
"Nothing..."
"You've got the guy that shot me. I didn't mean to eavesdrop but I heard everything." She said, and he chuckled.
"You little mouse."
"Don't call me that.." she huffed and rolled his eyes.
"What do you wanna eat?"
"you'll make it?"
"I'll order it." He said and she frowned.
"Why can't you make it? Every other guy I see make something, but they don't buy it. And you're an Italian so you can cook."
"Not all Italians are food people but thank that god of yours. I'm blessed with so many gifts and cooking is one of them." He winked and she nodded, standing up.
"Let's go to the kitchen."
"What do you think to eat?"
"Spaghetti ball." She said and he nodded.
"You're becoming a glutton, Mrs. Mazza, I just bought a full plate of cookies Limau for you and you're already hungry."
"Cookies aren't food."
"But you enjoyed them."
"I'm I suppose to hate them because they are food?"
"Forget it, I'll make the Spaghetti balls." He said defeatedly and she smiled.
"Better. Don't always fight verbally with me baby, you know I'll always win." She said and he nodded smirking.
"I always let you win."
"You want to start another one..."
"Sorry, I'll cook now." He said.
They were already in the kitchen and she was seated on the chair close to the huge metal table in the middle of the kitchen.
He switched on the gas and placed the pan he had just rinsed on top of the fire.
"Should I wear you the apron?" She asked and he shook his head.
"I don't need it."
"But it'll make you look hot and sexy and I want to see it on you.' She pouted.
He sighed, stretching his hand wide as he waited for her to get the apron and when she did..she climbed the small stool and wore it on him.
"Tada! So hot!" She mumbled and he rolled his eyes.
"So short."
"I'm not short, I'm not just as tall as you are. More cooking and less talking sweetie." She hushed and he nodded quickly as he cut the onions little by little..and then moved to the carrots and then the cabbages.
"Are you okay?"
"It's the onions."
"You're being a crybaby." She mumbled and he smiled.
Mikhail had never thought one day in his life.. he'd be inside the kitchen cooking for a woman to eat.
Ever since his mother died, he had never entered the kitchen to cook.
His mother was used to eating his food alone.
The woman would wait all day for him to come back and cook for her...
Looking up to see Ashley's smiling face as she watched him cook was all he needed.
She was his angel, she was the light that was sent to clear a little bit of that darkness inside of him.
He loved her so much, that he was afraid of it.
Was it normal for someone to love someone the way they do?
Was it okay for him to love this woman so much like this?
Well...he didn't know and he didn't want to know the answer.
He would continue to love Ashley Mazza with his whole fucking heart and he didn't give a damn about what would happen later.
He would protect her.
That is what he'd fucking do!

A sample of Beatrice and the Lord.
The year 1893
The sun shone down brightly on the land of Nalish, drying the muddy ground and roads where carriages of the Elite rode.
Although the rain had stopped a few hours ago, the sky had begun to darken and that was clear evidence that the rain was going to pour down again.
A little girl could be seen picking small apples that had fallen down the tree that stood tall in the center of a huge Mansion.
"Beatrice darling, how many times does mummy have to tell you that picking the fallen apples is bad..do you want to be struck by lightning?" An older woman asked as she walked out of the house to see the little girl down on her knees as she picked them carefully.
"But mummy, the apples are fresh."
"Sweetie, this is food for the dead not for the living." Her mother said, and the little girl's eyes widened.
"But why do we have them here mummy, if they are for the dead..they should be kept in the cemetery." The little girl said as she discarded the fruits and stood up to meet her mother.
"Come here and let me make you a good pudding." Her mother said and carried her up.
"Mummy, will it rain again?" Beatrice asked.
"It will if little Beatrice does not take her bath quickly." Her mother said.
"Ma'am." The butler of the house gave a bow to the woman.
"What is wrong Pablo?" The woman asked, seeing the man crease his forehead out of worry.
"There was a little problem at the village and the congressmen sent a letter." The butler said, as he took the little girl in his arms and the woman collected the letter.
"What does it say Milady?" Asked the butler seeing the woman's face turns sour.
"Take Beatrice to her room, I'll be out to the council now." The elder woman said as she walked away.
Having lived in the mansion for years ever since the madam and sire had gotten married Pablo knew that something was wrong somewhere.
Although he knew his madam could take care of many things, her change of mood was never a good thing.
As a half-vampire, he could tell that something bad was going to happen.
"Pablo." The little girl called and he looked up at her shiny eyes.
"Hmm? What is wrong little miss?" He asked as he walked to her room.
"Is mummy alright? where is she going?" Beatrice asked.
"Mummy has an important place to be at the moment that's why she's in a hurry." He answered her questions, softly and carefully... clearing her curiosity.
As a little girl, Beatrice had grown to be very curious about everything and that was something he had to make sure he stopped at a tender age.
"I don't feel good, will mummy be alright?" She asked again, as he settled her on her bed.
Her eyes stared at him and he shook his head before pinching her nose.
"Silly girl, this grandpa would make sure you never be alone and mummy would come back home." He said and she smiled.
"Grandpa? It suits you though, Pablo." She giggled and he shook his head.

Hours passed and the sky had begun to darken as night was on its way at a fast pace.
Beatrice stood by the patio, her hand on the pavement as she watched the huge gate.
Her red eyes blinked as the gate opened.
She sighed, as she saw the butler walk through the gate.
She walked out of her room, running down the stairs as she caught up with the butler.
"Pablo, where is mummy? it's past nine." She asked.
The older man sighed, not knowing how to pass the news.
She had already lost her father and now her mother had gone too.
Surely the little girl would not take it well.
"What happened to my mummy?" She asked, her red eyes shining due to the tears that had rested on them.
He should have known that she would have noticed the rush of his heartbeat and the sound it gave.
"Shhh.. don't cry little Beatrice. Uncle Pablo is here to protect you." He mumbled as a tear left her eyes.
"Mummy is gone." He added, and a scream filled the air.
A scream of a Twelve-year-old, as she wailed her eyes out for her lost mother.

The next day had turned cold, colder than the cold room where slaves who disobeyed their Masters and mistresses were sent to learn their lesson.
"Little Beatrice." A woman called the little girl was quiet as she stared at her mother's corpse which was ready to be buried.
"Beatrice." The woman called again, a little louder but soft.
"Aunt Amelia." Beatrice turned to the older woman and tears prickled out of her eyes.
"Oh my little poor bunny, look how thin you have become in a few days." The woman muttered, wrapping her in her arms.
"Aunt Amelia, mummy..mummy left us." Little Beatrice cried as she hugged her only aunt.
The older woman sighed, as she cleaned the tears coming out of her sad red eyes.
"Aunt Amelia is here to take you home with her. Won't you come with Auntie now?"
Beatrice shook her head.
"I want to stay here with Grandpa Pablo."
The woman could only sigh.
The child was indeed a stubborn one, very stubborn to the core.
"How is the mansion faring now?" She turned to the man the little girl had referred to as Grandpa.
He was indeed a grandpa with white hair and all.
"We will have to move to the small Mansion at the Eastern border." The man said with a small smile.
The lands were divided into four different parts.
The Nalish, Naborta, Bathon, and the strongest of all...Viscoria.
Viscoria unlike the other lands was ruled by a cruel lord, Lord Wolfarine.
Little Beatrice looked up at her butler.
Even at a tender age, one knew who ruled the Eastern Border.
Rumors had flown around and those rumors were known to be true for how heartless and cruel the man had ruled for years.
"Grandpa Pablo, are we going there?" Little Beatrice asked as she watched the man drop their bags into the carriage.
"Hmm."
"But, they'll hit us and stake us." She said, blinking her red eyes.
"They stake witches, not vampires Beatrice." He answered and she shook her head.
"But Grandpa Pablo, the Eastern border is full of weird creatures..the wolves."
"Hmm."
"That is the only place that can guarantee your safety little Beatrice." The man said as he placed her on the seat of the carriage.
And off.. they drove to a new Land.
