Chapter 101 Enemies to Friends
KIA
"What the heck are you doing in this place?!!" I yelled back in a hysterical manner.
After that, she went inside, kept one hand on her back, and looked around while glancing in every direction. "I am here to talk to you, Kianna," she said. "I apologize for the inconvenience."
"What exactly are you going to discuss? Vera, there is nothing that either of us can talk about right now."
"The dean of the college informed me of the news..." She sat down after grabbing a chair and placing it in the room "She has reportedly stated that she will provide me with an opportunity. Did it occur to you that I have already reconciled myself to the outcome of my situation, and that it is possible that I will be expelled from this college? I never imagined that I would be given a third opportunity to make amends for my mistakes, and that opportunity would come in the form of working with you on a project. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity."
"Vera, I'm completely at a loss for words. I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place for us to be having this conversation. I am well aware of the reprehensible way in which you think, just like my sister—"
"I am not her friend anymore..." she interjected after making the statement. "... "Since the day that I admitted my wrongdoings, that was the day that I forgot that she was my friend. Since then, I have not thought of her in that capacity. It would be impossible for me to remain her friend indefinitely. I am aware of the negative consequences that will ensue for me if I do that."
"Why did you say that everything was your fault? what gave you that impression? I had the impression that Asteria was the one who conceived of the idea. Why didn't you drop her name?" I inquired with a sense of intrigue before taking a seat in the chair that was located directly in front of her.
"In all likelihood, she had intended to do so from the very beginning. She advocated for your dismissal or expulsion from the educational institution you currently attend. She has only one goal in mind, and that is to make your life miserable. Due to the fact that you were her sister, her feelings of jealousy only continue to intensify over time. It's impossible for her to wrap her head around the fact that you were her father's firstborn child. She prefers not to be referred to as the stepdaughter of the household. Kianna, she wants everything there is to offer. After hearing her stories for the first time, I felt sorry for her after I finally got the chance to meet her in person. You have a wrong impression of her, as she was not as wicked as you believe. She had no desires other than to be loved... Everyone has a deep-seated desire to be loved "She remarked as she looked at the table and tapped her nails against it while looking at it.
"Just like you wanted to be loved by Nathan Zac Ramirez?" she questioned.
That compelled her to halt her movements and turn her head to look directly into my eyes. That look in her eyes was something I'd never seen before in anyone else. It sounds so genuine, as if everything she has been uttering up to this point has come straight from her heart, and that she has been intending each and every word she has spoken.
She chuckled to herself and gave a phony smile before taking a few deep breaths. "Yes... I had the desire to be loved by him, but I was never given the opportunity to be with him because he didn't want me... he didn't like me.... Maybe I'm ugly? Or... or perhaps I just don't have it in me to be seductive? Or, it's possible that he has no interest in being with a girl as stupid as me... Because of this, he chose to work with you..."
"No he didn't… He didn't choose me, Vera. In point of fact, he had very little tolerance for my presence. He was only acting in such an idiotic manner in order to prevent his marriage to the girl whom his parents had selected as his bride-to-be. He intended to create a controversy in order to prevent the marriage from going forward. Because of this, when you spread the rumor that we were dating each other, he seized the opportunity and made the most of the circumstance "As I gazed deeply into her eyes, I continued. I never in a million years would have guessed that I would be in a position in my life where I would be doing something like this. Having a conversation with my most loathsome adversary.
"But despite this, he was consistently going out of his way to help you out. Even at that time, he chose to support you. And... and he was even with you when you went to Baguio —"
"Wait! I am curious as to how you came to know that." I responded while narrowing my eyes and looking at her in a manner that suggested I was perplexed.
The sigh escaped her lips. "I… I pursued him all the way up to Baguio, where I was getting ready to engage in conversation with him before he abruptly left, and I have no idea where he went. The following day, I saw him together with both you and your husband... But, but, after that I decided not to follow him anymore. Almost immediately, I returned home, where I shut myself up in my bedroom for several days. When we were together at that time, I had a fit of rage because you had messed up my plans. You made it so that I couldn't spend my time in Baguio with him like I had planned to, and I'm still mad about it. But there is no need to be concerned because I no longer hold any ill will toward you. I guess Nate just likes girls like you…"
"What? No! I know he doesn't like me, but could you please refrain from telling me that you think I'm ugly or that you're not sexy or anything else that you've said in the past? Vera, you may not realize it, but you are the most beautiful girl in the class; however, you never take the time to acknowledge this quality of yours because you are so preoccupied with focusing on me. You are making me your standard. Your uniqueness already lends you an attractive quality. You simply need to have self-assurance in that regard, and on top of that... the quality of being kind will earn you additional points. You need to shave your devil horns and make an effort to treat people with kindness instead of acting like a devil." I suggested and smiled.
What I said seemed to catch her off guard, but a second later, he just burst out laughing, which made me laugh as well. She appeared to be taken aback by what I said.
"Yeah! That is something I really ought to do. I never in a million years imagined that the high, Kianna Myst Saavedra, would command me to make such a significant change in my life." She remarked while giggling hysterically and couldn't control herself.
"Well, I am the ace now, and you should obey my orders or I will throw you to the underworld!" I remarked, and we wound up giggling as we made jokes at each other's expense, and it was a good time all around.
I never in a million years would have guessed that we would be sharing a moment like this together. I was under the impression that she would never alter her perspective, but take a look at where she is now—laughing with the person she considers to be her greatest adversary.
She halted her progress and flashed a grin in my direction. When she smiles like that, she has such an attractive appearance. In the past, I never noticed how beautiful she was, but now I think she's absolutely stunning. "Kianna, I want to express my deepest apologies for the many wrongs that I have committed in the past. I really want to make a better person for you, so I'm hoping you'll give me a chance to improve myself first. Having a conversation with you that lasts for a few minutes is a lot of fun. I really hope that we will be able to get back to doing this together very soon..."
"Yeah, sure! I, too, was caught off guard when I realized that we had reached this point. Vera, I really hope that we'll be able to form a stronger connection with one another, especially throughout the course of working on that project. I really hope that you are able to succeed in that project so that you can maintain your grade and participate in either the middle or high tier." I stood up and extended my hand to her in a gesture of friendship "I suppose this brings us to the end... Please let me know, Vera Eunice Ventura, if it is possible for us to become friends."
She appeared shocked as she looked at me, but after taking a moment to examine my hand, she reached out and grabbed it, and then we both gave each other a handshake. It was then that she uttered the word "friends," and from that moment on, our relationship underwent a sea change.
