Chapter 127 Revelation
KIA
"He is a strong and capable man, Kianna! more powerful than you may have imagined."
The phrase that has been running through my head since after Vince said that to me; I just can't seem to get rid of it. It has been going over and over in my thoughts till this very moment. Even though I have a lot of other things to think about, I can't stop thinking about it despite the fact that I have a lot of other things to think about. I have probably been gazing out the window for the better part of an hour at this point. The mere presence of this concept is causing me to start overanalyzing everything once more. It is still up to me to get started managing the initiatives that the organization needs to complete.
I gave myself a mental shake and shook my head as I attempted to stop thinking about it. I was twirling my hair and resting my head on the back of my chair when all of a sudden someone appeared in front of me, and it was Nathan. Almost immediately, I straightened my hair and positioned myself appropriately.
"How long have you been standing there?" I inquired in a really uncomfortable manner.
"Since the time you were pulling your hair out... Kianna, is there something wrong?" he questioned. I can tell by looking into his eyes how anxious he is about something.
"I'm fine—"
"If that's the case, why have you been torturing yourself for the past few minutes?"
"It's not your problem, Mr. Ramirez," I said to him.
“Nate.”
“What??”
"You can call me Nate. Avoid being overly formal, particularly given that there are only the two of us here. You don't have to act like way, Kianna. There's no reason for it.
When I stared at him, I squinted my eyes slightly to show more concentration. "Mr. Ramirez, you need to get some seriousness into your life!"
“Nate.”
I did so while maintaining eye contact with him and taking a few deep breaths. " We are now on the university, and with this place comes additional responsibilities. I don't have time for your illogical behaviors."
"Why don't you just address me by my name? What's the problem with that?"
“I am addressing you by your name, Mr. Ramirez. In any case, if you don't have a compelling reason to be here, then you should get out of my office now. There are still a great deal of things that need to be done on my end—"
"Kianna, why are you acting in such a manner? Are you avoiding me?" He asked as he got closer to me while he was in the process of approaching me.
"I can't think of any reason why I should do that—"
"Then there's no need to avoid me!"
"I am not, Mr. Ramirez. I am merely trying to maintain my professional demeanor in this conversation; if you are unable to maintain a professional demeanor in your work, then I would ask that you improve yourself before we continue this conversation. If you don't have anything constructive to contribute, then you should just leave." I responded while maintaining a close eye contact with him.
When I realized how near he was getting, I immediately went into a panic, and when he finally got close enough, he trapped me in my chair. "Kianna Myst Saavedra… What kind of sick joke are you playing on me?
"What the heck are you talking about?"
"I can't seem to shake the image of you from my thoughts." He pointed at his head as he spoke and added, "It's been months, yet I still can't get rid of you from this head of mine."
"You are absolutely out of your mind, Nathan Zac Ramirez!" I shoved him and was getting ready to leave when he suddenly grabbed me by the waist and held on.
Because of this, I am now very close to him. I am able to detect the distinctively manly aroma that he exudes, as well as the sound of him breathing. I was taken aback and unable to move for over thirty seconds before I recognized that we were in an awkward position because of where we were standing. I gave him another push, and it turned out to be a smart move because he quickly let go of his hold on me after that.
"What the hell do you think you're doing, Mr. Ramirez?!!" I inquired in a frantic manner.
"Please don't tell me I'm doing something wrong because I'm not. I'm simply puzzled as to why you're avoiding me since there doesn't seem to be any particular reason for it." Nathan responded.
Indeed, he is not someone who likes to beat around the bush. Am I avoiding him? In light of the fact that the thing I was trying to avoid was having another misunderstanding with my husband, I do not believe that this is the case.
"I hope you can see that I am behaving normally, Mr. Rivera. If it is the way I behave that bothers you, then the issue lies within you."
"It's because of your husband, isn't it?" He asked. He was staring at me in a way that made me feel as though he was going to take my soul from me with those looks.
"Again, I am not avoiding you. However, I ask that you leave my office immediately. There are many tasks that remain for me to complete—"
"I overheard you having a conversation with the generous benefactor earlier."
It took me by complete surprise. As I looked at him, the pupils in my eyes grew to their maximum size. "Wait a second–what exactly did you say?"
"I was right all along..." he remarked as he headed near the bookcase and continued his statement. "When I found out that you abruptly got married, it threw a wrench in everything because I had only recently seen you at the Shangri-La hotel that same night. Do you not recall meeting me? When you were crying your eyes out while drinking an entire bottle of wine, I was the one that was there with you., Kianna."
I can only stand there and look with my eyes wide open, unable to close them, as though the entire world were shattering and falling apart around me... I didn't even shake.. Suddenly, I found myself completely paralyzed, and I had no idea what would happen as a result of what I had just heard...
