Chapter 128 Back to where it started
KIA
As he resumed his remarks while walking toward the bookcase, he added, "I was right all along..." He then finished his statement after reaching the bookcase. "Because I had just recently run into you at the Shangri-La hotel the same night, the news that you had unexpectedly gotten married put a wrench into things. I had no idea that you were already married when I ran into you there. Do you have any recollection of our previous encounter? I was the one who was there with you, Kianna, when you were sobbing uncontrollably and consuming a whole bottle of wine at the same time."
I am only able to stand there and watch with my eyes wide open, unable to close them, as though the entire world were crumbling and falling apart around me... I didn't even shake... Suddenly, I discovered that I was utterly paralyzed, and I had no notion what would happen as a result of what I had just heard... I had no idea what would happen.
FLASHBACK
I'm currently opening a bottle of Carlo Rossi California Red in the hopes that it will assist me in forgetting about him and the suffering he's caused me. I'm hoping that the wine will help me forget about him and the suffering he's caused me. Having said that, could you perhaps explain why this is the case? Why am I experiencing even greater discomfort at this moment? I don't see why I have to comply with this requirement. Is it acceptable to inflict pain on me? Is he having an affair with someone else because he doesn't think I'm good enough for him? Why does it seem as though nothing is important now, including the time that we spent together?
I am back once more... The truth is hidden in my eyes, but my tears have revealed it. They are willingly putting themselves in the position of having the most falls...
"Are you okay?"
There was a guy standing behind me, and I could hear him. I avoided making eye contact with him because I didn't want him to be able to know how ugly and wretched I am at this very moment. While I was answering, I did nothing but look at the wine I was sipping "Ye-yeah! I'm fine…"
"However, you do not appear to be in good shape, Miss...," he continued.
I explained, "I'm simply having some troubles, but please don't worry about me since I'm completely OK." I had just stood up and was getting ready to leave when I all of a sudden began to feel dizzy, and I found myself gripping the man's arm.
When I turned to look at him, I noticed that he was carrying a glass, and some of the alcoholic beverage had gotten on his shirt. Fuck! What on earth have I gotten myself into?!
"I sincerely apologize! Gosh! I didn't mean it… Oh, hold on, let me just get a tissue here—"
"You are not required to do so. You shouldn't worry about it. Aside from that, it appeared that you were the one who required some assistance. Take a moment to relax and take a seat," he added as he assisted me in sitting back in my chair once he had gotten up.
"I truly apologize for the inconvenience. I will simply—I will simply pay for your shirt in this instance. How much does it set you back?" I asked.
"The price was three thousand dollars."
As I attempted to make sense of his response, my mouth dropped open in shock. "What?! 3000 bucks for a simple white button-down shirt? What the..."
He gave a friendly smile and nod in response "However, there is no need to be concerned about it. You won't have to pay anything at all. Relax, and give yourself some time to flush the alcohol out of your system before you do anything else."
"Are you sure? Nevertheless, you seem to be in a state of disarray right now... It was a mistake for me to grab your arm in the earlier part of the conversation. I solemnly declare that it was a mere coincidence!" I said.
"Don't worry about it, as I've previously reassured you that everything will be all right... Anyway, I believe I have met you in the past, but I cannot recall the specifics..." He spoke in a murmur.
"Are you saying that you've seen me before?" I inquired while also attempting to recognize his appearance, but I was unsuccessful. I can't even begin to guess who someone is right now because I'm completely inebriated.
"It would seem so to me... As a side note, I don't mean to be intrusive, but I've noticed that you've been down for a time now. Are you interested in discussing this matter further? I shall listen…"
What exactly is he struggling with here? Mhmmm… To my observation, he is behaving in a really peculiar manner. I appreciate that he is simply trying to be concerned, but asking about other people's difficulties out of the blue when we don't even know each other strikes me as quite odd and inappropriate behavior.
"I am sorry, but I do not believe that I am able to inform you..." I babbled incoherently.
He stared at me for a few seconds before smiling and nodding his head in response to what he saw. "I get it. It works out just nicely. If I were to share mine with you, would it be okay with you?" It came out of nowhere.
"Uhm… Yeah. Sure." I responded even though I had the distinct impression that I was about to pass out at any moment. I wanted to leave and tell him that I wanted to relax in my room, but I could see the sadness in his eyes. So instead, I decided to just leave. I would imagine that if this man would just make an effort to listen to him, it would be of great assistance to him.
