Chapter 46 Hooligans
KIA
“Mi-miaree!”
As a result of Miaree's unexpected actions, everyone was shocked. It's hard to believe he's even conscious at this point, as he's bleeding from his head.
“You f*cking b*tch! How dare you hit my head?!”
He was about to approach Miaree when she suddenly threatened the frog-looking man with a broken bottle glass. She pointed it at the man while her eyes were blank. I can’t see any emotion in her. I feel like I didn’t know who she was. She wasn’t even bothered by the blood flowing from the man’s head. That death glare made me shiver.
“Why not? You are pestering our meal. You deserve it — Actually, you deserve more. Do you want one more hit? because there are more bottles here beside me. Want to try it with your head?”
“You are crazy!”
“Yes, I am. I am telling you, you are all done if my friend is hurt today! I will make sure that you will be buried six feet below! Have I made myself clear?"
The frog-looking man suddenly collapses, and all of his men gather around him. As soon as everyone’s attention was on them, Miaree immediately grabbed my hand, and we slipped away. But then, before we could get out of that restaurant, he suddenly saw us running away.
“No way! I can’t be taken down by these two young girls! Leave me alone, you idiots! Stop those bitches! Stop them! I will make them beg me to let them go!”
We began to run but I stumbled and fell only a few yards from where we began, and pain shot through my ankle. I could feel a pair of cold eyes staring into the back of my head, and to me, that was enough to believe that we were in danger. This path was not unfamiliar to me; I walked it every day after work when I was still working part-time to get to my house as sort of a shortcut instead of walking through all of the neighboring subdivisions. The path is beaten, and there is hardly ever anyone on it. The only people that travel on it are bike riders, but it is too dark and there are not many street lights. It was just us and the mysterious ugly creatures that were following us.
I can’t help but cackle at the fact that I am so frightened because I’m shaking so hard that it’s giving me a migraine. My throat aches, and I realize that I am yelling for help at the top of my lungs, but no response is returned except the sounds of my heartbeat. It is so loud. I felt the sweat pouring down my face.
“Don’t run!”
“Stop!”
I looked back at them, and they were still following us. I am so tired, and I can’t run anymore.
“Kianna, move your ass! Here this way!” Miaree said, and when I ran that way, we ended up at a dead end.
“Oh, gosh! Dead end!”
I heard someone slowly approaching us from behind. They started laughing. “Why did you stop running?”
“Don’t even think about getting close to us!” Miaree said, and I couldn’t see any fear on her face. She is just calm.
“B*tch! You dared to make me bleed, and now you are running from me? Do you think I will just let you pass? It is time to kick both of your asses!”
“Hey, hey, how about we have fun tonight, master?”
“These two chicks are smoking hot!”
We couldn’t do anything but step back. “Stop! Don’t blame me for not warning you! If you piss me off, I will never let you get away!” Miaree added.
I don’t know what to do. I am just here beside Miaree, and all I can do is cry and shiver from fear. I wish Ares would be here, but I didn’t let him know where I was. Sh*t! Is this going to be our end?
“Hold her!” the frog-looking man said to his men, and they immediately grabbed Miaree.
The frog-looking man grabbed my hand and cornered me against the wall. “Let go of me! I am going to call the police!”
“Get your f*cking hands off!” Miaree screamed.
“Shut up, b*tch!”
“Relax, I will treat you well,” he said, and started touching my waist.
…Why do I always encounter this kind of scenario?! Ares, help me! I need you…
I closed my eyes and started praying, but I suddenly felt something wet on my neck. When I opened my eyes, I saw the frog-looking man licking my neck.
“Come on, just yell! We are in a dead zone anyway. Besides, it is my territory. No one will come to rescue both of you even if you scream—”
“Ahem, is there someone calling me?”
There is a guy who suddenly showed up wearing a black hoody and black pants. Even his shoes are black. I am trying to look at his face, but then I notice that he is wearing a face mask.
“I heard someone screaming — Woah! Why are you guys having a secret meeting with those girls there?” said the man who suddenly showed up after the man in black.
…Who are they?...
“Wait, how about we settle this with money? How much do you want?”
“What the hell are you doing here? Mind your business, kids!”
“I am being considerate. You will let them go, and I will give you some money. How about that?”
“Don’t be such a shining knight, or else I am going to crash your bones—”
“Don’t you know who I am? I am Dave Kean— Never mind, you didn’t deserve to know my name—”
That guy, Dave, wasn't able to finish his words when the man in black suddenly rushed towards the man who was holding Miaree. His arms reach the neck of the man and drag him to the trashcan.
“Chill!” Dave said and rushed towards them.
“Sh*t! Go attack them! Beat the crap out of them!” the frog-looking man ordered his men.
Dave's fists cluttered all of their faces and put a hole in their stomachs. The guy cries and begs. His voice twitches. “Don’t kill me, don’t kill me—” But the man in black suddenly kicks his face, making him unconscious.
“Ha-ha-ha! Hey! That’s mine!” Dave said.
“What a bunch of idiots! Go knock them down!”
The man in black smiled sadistically. The other four snickered as they pulled the sharp dagger from their pockets. There was no escape route, and there was no way they could fight all five of them.
I closed my eyes, but then I heard someone fall. My eyes snapped open, seeing all his men lying on the ground, blood pouring from the backs of their heads. The frog-looking man holding me against the wall left to fight whoever it was—this man in black and this guy named Dave. I slid to the ground. I watched with wide eyes as they fell one by one around me. Soon, they were all dead or maybe unconscious. I don’t know, but they weren’t moving.
Miaree immediately rushed toward me and helped me get up. “Miaree, are those guys your bodyguards?” I whispered to her.
“What? No, I didn’t know them! But, but, they look very familiar.” she answered.
Suddenly, a guy named Dave went towards us. I thought he was going in my direction but then he suddenly went to Miaree and whispered something in her ear. “I’m outta here. Make sure they go home safe, bro!” Dave said, and he left just like that. As if nothing happened.
The man in black suddenly approached us and slowly removed his mask. We were both stunned when we realized who this man in black was.
“What the f*ck? Nate?” I said.
“Nathan?!” Miaree said.
“Did they hurt you?” he asked.
“No, they just — Miaree, let’s go home." I grabbed Miaree’s hand and looked at Nate, waiting for him to talk, but he just stood in front of me.
“Thank you, Nate! I don’t know how we will be able to repay you after both of you and your friend saves us—”
“What friend?” He interjected.
“That guy named Dave?”
“He is not my friend. I went here alone. I don’t know who he is.” Nate answered.
While we were talking, a man suddenly showed up and looked for Miaree. This guy might be her bodyguard.
“My lady, are you okay? Master, ask us to pick you up. He is waiting for you in the car over there."
Miaree smiled and nodded, “Good I see. — Thank you, Nathan. If it weren’t for you, Kianna and I would have been in trouble. Please walk Kianna home. It might be dangerous for her if she goes back by herself. Kianna, my uncle is here, I need to go. Text me when you get home, okay? Nathan Zac! Kianna is in your hand!” Miaree said so and left me with Nate.
There was total silence, and I didn’t even try to look at Nate. I just started walking.
“Well, everybody’s gone. I will drive you home — Hey! Why are you walking so fast? Wait for me!” he said while following me.
“It’s better to get out of here quickly. Some of those ugly creatures ran off. It would be bad if they came back to us.”
“Don’t worry, I will protect you from them…”
…Protect me? Why does it sound like something with meaning?…
