Chapter 58 The Night She Doesn't Remember
ARES
I was currently in a meeting when I started worrying about my wife. I look at the clock and it is already 12:54 am. Three hours had passed since the last time Kianna texted me. She texted me her location and even sent me a photo of the place and a photo of her with a bunch of people.
I thought the party that she was telling me about earlier consisted of only three people, her and her friends. But then I didn't expect that there would be a lot of them attending that party.
"Boss — Boss the meeting is done," Kyles said as he waved his hand in front of me.
"Great. Good work for today. I'll see you tomorrow." I said, and immediately stood up to get my coat and leave the building.
As I got inside the car, I placed my phone in front and traced Kianna's location. It's quite far from our house. I wonder how she got there by herself. I started the engine. As I drive, I roll down the windows to enjoy the summer's warm and brisk air.
Even though it was already night, I could already feel the warm summer breeze ruffling through my hair. Join the main highway. 130 km/h. I look in my car mirror and up ahead to make sure no one is approaching my side... shift into 4th gear. For a brief moment, both hands were tightly gripping the steering wheel as if I was ready to snap them off. RPMs are still rising quickly, and fifth gear is approaching. I shift once more and enjoy the pleasant, smooth shift. 180km/hr.
I increase the gas pressure, but nothing happens. The feeling of elation sets in. I have a sense of liberation. All I can think about is speed, and I want more. My peripheral vision is now completely gone as my field of view narrows to the road in front of me. Every object I see is lost in the haze. The road's dotted line changes to a solid line.
Now, the engine's purring is overshadowed by the wind rushing past the windows. I was unable to take my eyes off the road, not even to check my speed. I briefly feel weightless when there is even the smallest bump in the road. Finally, I caught sight of the speedometer. Suddenly, I realized I had been holding my breath, I let out the gas and let out a breath. As the wind starts to slow the car, my body lurches forward. It's the ultimate relief. This moment would be perfect for a peaceful city cruise.
…I’m here…
There is a huge mansion in front of me. The guard stopped my car as I was about to enter.
“Sir, do you have an invitation?” the guard asked me.
I gazed at him seriously. “I’m here for my wife. I grabbed my wallet and picked a card and showed it to him.” I spoke and his hand flipped over the card with my name on it and then moved out of the way, meaning I could go in.
He immediately stepped back as he saw my business card. “Sorry, sir. I didn’t recognize you. You may enter now.”
I parked my car, and as I got off the car, I could hear the loud sound coming from the mansion. The warm Miami wind hit my bare arms. The only things that would be lighting the streets were the street lights and the party lights inside.
I started walking down the hallway of the mansion. I could feel the trashy music vibrating through the hallway. When I finally made it inside, there were tons of people grinding up against each other as the DJ played a shitty song. I walked through the crowd of sweaty, smelly people and made my way over to the dance floor, where I saw a familiar face.
“Where is Kianna?” I asked Miaree, Kianna’s best friend. But she looked like she didn’t hear me, so I immediately grabbed her hand and pulled her to the side, and got closer to her ear. “Where is my wife?” I said, repeating my question.
She looked at me thoroughly, and she suddenly patted my chest. It seems like she is drunk. “Your wife? Who is your wife? — Wait, I know you! You are Kianna’s hubby! Guys, he is Kianna’s husband! He is so handsome — Wait! Why did you lie to my friend?!”
…Lie? What is she talking about? Did Kianna tell her about what happened last night?...
“Hey, look at me. Answer my question. Where is Kianna?” I asked her again.
“Kianna? Oh — Kianna Myst Saavedra? She… She is in the guest room.” She answered. I was about to ask her what room it was, but she left me to go dancing.
I walk upstairs and there are six rooms in the hallway. I started knocking on the first door, but no one answered, so I opened it but no one was inside. I went to the second room and, just like what I did in the first, I knocked three times. There was a guy who opened the door.
“Have you seen Kianna Myst Saavedra?” I asked him.
“No, bro,” he answered, so I went to the next room. The door was slightly open, so I took a peek inside, but then I saw two people making out inside, so I immediately closed it.
…Where is Kianna, exactly?...
I went to the next door and knocked. There was no one answering, so I opened it and there she was, lying on the bed. Finally, I found her. I immediately entered the room and took a seat beside her. I was intrigued by her beauty as I continued to stare at her. I started stroking her hair as I tried to wake her up.
“Hon? — hon, wake up! It’s me, Ares… Hon?” But then she continued sleeping peacefully.
She was unconscious but her hair was partially concealing her innocent face; her beauty was still visible. I take off my coat and use it as a cover for her body. Why didn't she wear a coat before coming here? She can get sick by just wearing this piece of clothing. Since she looked so tired after partying all night, I decided not to wake her up anymore and just slowly carry her.
When we got down, I tried to find Miaree so that I could say goodbye to her, but then I couldn't find her anymore. The crowd was full of drunk people and the music was too loud, so I made my way to the parking lot. I slowly got her down in the back seat before entering the driver's seat. I slowly drive all the way to our house since I don't want her to suddenly wake up just because she fell down from the back seat.
When we arrived, I slowly carried her and placed her on our bed. I was about to go to the bathroom and take a warm bath, but then I realized that she was still wearing her party clothes. I head to the kitchen and get a small basin and put warm water in it. I went back to the room and placed the basin on the table. I was a bit hesitant about what I was about to do, but then I eventually did it. I took off her clothes and started cleaning her using a towel and warm water. After that, I went to her closet to find something for her to wear. I put her in a cozy white nightgown and a set of all-white underwear.
“Finally…” I said, staring at her after I was done. I headed to the bathroom and took a warm shower before going back to the bedroom and sleeping beside my wife.

My ring tone abruptly blared in my ear while I was having a dream. It's fortunate that I was awake because I can't even recall setting my alarm. That must have been something I did when I was sober and contemplating the day ahead. I was lying in bed wondering why I had set my alarm when it dawned on me.
…How did I get home?...
While I was hysterically thinking about how I went home last night, I noticed that I am now wearing a nightgown.
…What the f*ck?! Did I just take a bath last night after I went home? But I don’t remember anything…
My head felt like it weighed 100 pounds, it kept bobbing like those dashboard ornaments. I somehow got to my feet and wondered, “Where is Ares anyway?”
Wow, I'm sure I don't remember how I got here. I stumbled outdoors as I made my way to the restroom. Nothing came out when I tried to spit in the sink. My mouth felt as parched as a desert. Nothing at all came out. That's probably what happens when you consume three tequila bottles, one bottle of pink gin, and three kegs of beer. I shouldn't have consumed so much alcohol last night.
I threw myself onto the sofa when suddenly the door opened and Ares entered the house. He smiled at me. It seems like he went out for a walk.
“You are awake. How is your sleep?” he asked.
I didn’t answer his question and asked him a question instead, “Did you change my clothes last night?”
My question caught him off guard. He stood in front of me like a total idiot, thinking about what answer he would say. And that’s when I knew it. He really did change my clothes and even my undies.
…Oh, God! I look like a white lady right now!...
