Chapter 78 Detention Center
KIA
DETENTION!!! I must have caught your attention. Most likely as a result of negative experiences, you've had with that awful word, am I correct? And right now, it seems like I will have my own experience also. As I was walking towards the corridor, I heard a laughing sound coming from behind me, it was them.
“Hey, Kianna!” Vera shouted. I didn’t mind her and just kept walking. I grabbed my earphone from my pocket and plugged them into my phone. While I was listening to music and walking straight, I suddenly felt something on my shoulder, it is Vera’s hand.
“Hey! Are you deaf?! I have been calling you!”
I looked at her with a serious face. “What do you want?”
“Nothing I just want to congratulate you for getting a high grade on our midterm exam—” She said sarcastically and burst out laughing. “By the way, did you enjoy that short achievement of yours? I heard that you and your friends celebrated that. I wonder what will happen when they know what you did… I guess they will be so disappointed in you. Oh, right! Who will talk to the dean — is it your husband or your dad? — Oh! Sorry! I thought you are still part of Asteria’s family, my fault!”
"Hey! Stop blabbering and continue walking or I will lock you up in the stock room!" The guard said to Vera.
“How about you lock yourself in the abandoned building?” Vera said and rolled her eyes as she continued walking, following with her four little liars.
“What did you just say? Hey! Hey! Stop there! I want you to repeat what you just said brat!” The guard screamed as he followed Vera and left me behind.
Who could avoid experiencing headaches from what they do? Vera seems to have been designed from birth to cause problems for others. Why she was treating me badly was beyond my understanding. Could Asteria have given her orders? If that’s the case then this must be the one she was saying back when we were at the mall. I need to take action as soon as possible. For sure they were already planning everything just to take me down. If I didn’t take action as soon as possible they might succeed with their plan and I can’t let that happen.
“All of you aren’t allowed to leave this room until the dean orders us to. Is that clear?" The guard asked as we arrived at the detention room. I answered him with a nod while Vera didn't mind him and just did her thing, she grabbed her phone and sat next to the window. "Not so fast, brat. A rule in this detention room is that you are not allowed to use any gadgets so all of you must surrender your phones." He added.
Vera couldn't take it and kicked the table in front of her. "Is this some kind of joke to you? The dean didn't say anything about that so why would I give your phone to you? No one knows, what if you do something with my phone? You look like some kind of guy who will take advantage of kids…"
That made the guard angry to the point that he furiously grabbed Vera's phone out of her hand. "Stand up…" I can feel that he wasn't taking any joke right. He looks so serious. "I said stand up!" He shouted at Vera, making her stand up immediately.
The guard checked her body to see if she was hiding and as expected she had two phones which were confiscated by the guard. "In this room, I am the boss. Mind your manners if you want me to be kind to you, brat." He said to Vera's face after heading to our classmates to also confiscate their phones.
After getting all of their gadgets, he then walked toward me. He didn't say anything, he just opened his palm and looked at me with a blank expression. I unplugged my earphone and handed him my phone.
"That too…" he said, looking at my earphone. I don't have any choice but to hand it in too since I won't be able to use it because my phone was confiscated. "Alright. Listen carefully, since you don't have your phone with you, you are obligated to talk to each other. Talk about the issue you got in and make sure to solve it if you can. Fighting isn't allowed in this room. If we caught you fighting, you will get an additional one hour to stay in this room, so if you don't want to go back to your class or go home, then go fight. There are CCTVs around this room, so you better mind your manners because you are being watched. Another thing, don't even think about running through that window because it won't open even if you try to break it with any kind of solid things from this room. Don't waste your time and just behave, especially you, brat… I won't be easy on you next time so mind your manners." After telling us everything we needed to know about this detention room, he then went outside and locked us up inside this room.
As I looked around I noticed a shelf containing a lot of books. Since I don't have my phone and I don't have anything to do, my mind forces me to pick something from the book and my hand reaches for the Greek Mythology book. Kind of interesting. I found a seat which is far from them and it is also beside the window.
Although it might sound strange to say, Percy Jackson was where I first began my study of Greek mythology and subsequent obsession. I didn't read this until I was around 15 years old, which is later than many other people, and I wish now that I had. Not because I believed I was too young, but rather because I would have been much more familiar with the world of Greek myths had I been exposed to it earlier.
It is important to consider a variety of literary genres, including the Bible and Shakespeare. Greek Mythology is one genre of literature that I think school systems ought to include in English lessons. We can learn a lot from its literature and history. Greek Mythology should be covered in English classes, in my opinion, because it is fundamental information that most people should be familiar with.
I was interrupted by reading the book when suddenly a hand slammed the book that I was holding. When I raise my head, I see a bitter brat trying to destroy my peaceful moment.
“Up until this moment, why do you keep trying to irritate me?” I asked as I stood up and match her gaze. She stepped back, she doesn’t seem to expect that I will fight her here. Then she is wrong. I would do everything that it take just for me to make her face as a wipe on this table.
“Ha-ha-ha. Wow! Do you really have the guts to act strong right now? Don’t you see we already outnumbered you?”
“Yeah, which makes you a coward.”
“What did you just say?!” She was about to hit me but then one of her filthy servants stopped her. “Vera, don’t… I don’t want to stay any longer here in this room. Please, don’t make a scene…”
“Make a scene?! Did you just hear what she just called me?! Get off your hands out of me!” Vera screamed at the top of her lungs.
“Kianna has a point, Vera…” Another side comment from her filthy servants.
“What?! Get out of my sight before I smash your ugly face at that wall!”
I merely smirk as I observe how this woman's madness could be. “I didn’t expect to see you so pressed about it.”
“Shut up! You don’t have any right to look down on me because you only have a lowlife. How dare you? If it wasn’t for Asteria I would definitely make your life miserable at once but Asteria wanted you to suffer slowly. You should be thankful for her.”
“Oh really?”
“Yes! We won’t let you have your happy life while you were still breathing, Kianna. God! You really make my blood boil so much! You were always stealing my scene in everything! I should be the prettiest girl in class but then you came! I should attract everyone’s attention, not you! I should be the one who catches Nathan’s attention, not you! I was doing everything just to make Nate see me for once but then you just did it so easily, you are a slut! Why do you always hinder everyone’s happiness?! Why don’t you just die, Kianna?”
Hinders their happiness? Pathetic…
“Huh– I don’t hinder anything, Vera. You just couldn’t accept that something in this world wouldn’t be yours even if you do everything just for you to get it. That’s how life works. Stop being so blind by all the jealousy you feel about me, Vera. You have a life of your own. There is nothing to be jealous about me. Why can’t you focus on your own life rather than wasting your time on me?”
“Shut up!” She screamed as if she was turning crazy, “You don’t know anything. You don’t know me. I am not jealous of you, I just want you to get out of his sight. Nathan Zac Ramirez is mine, Kianna. You have your husband already, why do you keep on making every guy on this campus fall in love with you? You are such a pick me girl!”
“Go ahead. He is not mine, Vera. Why don’t you ask him instead rather than targeting me?”
She appeared to be in a state of shock following what I said. Her fist was tightened. She seems to become even angrier. “I have every right to do what I want. This time, I will make sure that the dean will expel you from this school!”
“So, you really admit it. You were just making up stories just to kick me out of this school…”
“Yes, and you can’t do anything about it. Why don’t you kneel down and beg?” She laughed with satisfaction.
“Why would I even do that if they already know that I am innocent?”
“Ha-ha-ha! You don’t have anything to make yourself innocent, Kianna. We have all the evidence that will make you a cheater.”
“That’s where you are wrong. Remember what the guard said earlier? There is CCTV in this room and we are being watched. They also wanted us to talk about the issue and fix it which means they can also hear us since they are forcing us to talk about it.”
I can see the color of her face changing. It was as if she suddenly lost blood and turned pale.
