Chapter 97 The New System
KIA
You could be forgiven for assuming that she won't do it, but the truth is that she has already done it. Because of this, we are now working to resolve everything, including the damages that the issue may have caused to you. Ms. Saavedra, please accept our deepest condolences for the events that have transpired. I am aware of your capabilities, which is why it came as such a shock to me when I first learned that you had cheated on your midterm examination. I just couldn't believe it. I am aware of how intelligent you are, and after listening to Ms. Ventura's admission, I realized that not only did that make you deserving of all the recognition you received the first time, but it also made you deserving of the recognition you received the second time. Put your worries to rest, Ms. Saavedra, because I will see to it that everyone at this university acknowledges you as the best of the best. The dean reached for her phone in a startlingly abrupt manner, and it appeared as though she intended to make a call.
And I was absolutely correct when she all of a sudden placed her phone next to her ear.
"Yes, it's me. I need you to give the instruction to each faculty member to put it together. It is imperative that everybody sees it and acknowledges Ms. Saavedra as their ace.... Yes, I need it as quickly as it can be arranged.... Good! "Then I will let you do the honor, Mrs. Vega," she said before hanging up the phone on the person who had called her.
What precisely is taking place here? In order for them to acknowledge that I am their best player? Does this university place a lot of importance on having perfect grades? The final ace at that time was a little bit better than we were, despite the fact that she was the worst ace that had ever existed. She looked down on us like we were her servants. I have no idea why she decided to switch schools, but the fact that she did is certainly welcome news. She came from the other school.
"Ms. Saavedra, do you pick up on what they're saying?"
"What exactly are you hearing, Dean?" I asked.
“Wait…” She activated her computer and appeared to be searching for something on it. “Here!” After that, she invited me to look at the screen, and I was taken aback when I saw a reflection of my face on a tarpaulin. It congratulates our ace on his accomplishment.
“Uhmm… What exactly is taking place here?" I wondered.
"You will know everything when it starts, but right now, all I could say to you is congratulations on your achievement, my dear ace!" (You will know everything when it begins.) ...as she had stated.
In other words, what exactly does she mean by that? In addition to that, the fact that she addressed me as "dear Ace" was very peculiar.
"You are free to proceed to your class at this time," she instructed.
After I had left the room, things quickly began to take on an increasingly strange quality. Everyone's eyes were fixed on me, and a few of them even cracked a grin in my direction. What the hell is going on right at this very moment? Is there something that I have overlooked in my research? I went to our classroom, and when I opened the door, there was confetti all over me. I tried to brush it off, but it was stuck to my clothes.
"Kianna, you have earned the title of Ace for our team! Congratulations!" They shrieked with delight the entire time.
I'm at a loss for what to do, so all I can do is stare at them and try to make sense of what's going on. To my good fortune, Marcy and Miaree abruptly dragged me out of the classroom and led me and them into the playground, where there was no one else to be found.
"Guys, what exactly is taking place here?"
"I don't understand what you mean; what exactly is taking place? Omg, girl! Everyone admires and respects you immensely. You have quickly become the most formidable student on the premises. It's been a while since this campus has had an ace, but we already have one again, and it came from the Psychology department! Marcy expressed her elation in the conversation.
“Right! In addition to that, the two of us are her closest friends. This indicates that we have the potential to compete at the highest levels! Miaree added.
I intervened and stopped them from celebrating the thing that I couldn't comprehend why they were celebrating. “Wait! Exactly what the hell are you talking about?! Could you please explain it to me before you start jumping for joy, if you don't mind.
"All right, make yourself comfortable, ace," I said. Marcy prompted me to take a seat alongside them by grabbing my hand and advising me to do so. "Haven't you seen the levels before? Don't you remember them?"
"At what level?" (Which level) I did so in a completely innocent manner.
"What gives you the excuse that you were completely unaware of it? Kianna, back when it was still in existence, that was the most well-known fact about this university. Miaree said.
"I'm not sure; I can honestly say that I've never heard of it before..."
"Alright, let me walk you through this whole thing," she said. In the past, our academic institution was subdivided into three distinct tiers: high, mid, and low. The high tier was considered the most prestigious. They were created in the past by the more experienced members of the community, which contributed to a significant amount of discrimination in the past. Because of this, the Dean made the decision to temporarily remove it; however, to everyone's surprise, they brought it up again in our batch, and now you are the ace." The explanation was provided by Marcy.
"Okay? Therefore, what makes that level so special, considering that it is one of those levels?"
"Girl, just as Marcy described, the students were separated into three distinct groups," the teacher told each of the classes. The high tier is the one that is considered to be the highest of them all. They are distinguished from the other students in the school by virtue of the fact that they are the wealthiest and most intelligent of the group. Some of them were the children and grandchildren of politicians, as well as a physician, an engineer, and a successful businessman. The next level up is the middle level. They were students who either did not have a lot of money but were very intelligent, or on occasion, they did have a lot of money but were not very intelligent. They were given the name "so-so" because they stood in the middle of the pack. The final one is the one at the bottom of the hierarchy. They are the worst of the worst because they are the type of students who are not successful in anything, and they also have a difficult life..." Conversation between Miaree and others.
I was paying close attention to everything that she had to say, and that's how I found out about everything. "I don't understand why they designed the level like that. That's got to be devastating for those people in the lower tiers..."
Because the ace is the highest possible level, the fact that they came back with it indicates that they also brought back the lower levels. "Yes, and since they did so with the ace, it also indicates that they brought back the lower levels as well. Since you are now the most accomplished student on the campus, you are considered to be a member of the upper tier—"
"Not just a part! You have assumed the role of the self-proclaimed leader at this point. You will be revered as a leader by everyone, and they will all try to emulate you. You are in command of everything that happens on campus, and you won't believe this but even the members of the rival gangs will defer to your authority as the most powerful person there is. There was a department for the ace back in those days... In the middle of everything, Miaree spoke up.
"But that was such an unreasonable decision! Why would they discriminate against the students by separating them into different groups?
"Kianna, unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done about that situation." That was the rule, and since you were the ace, you are now in control of everything, and the level will start very soon..."
"No… "There is no way that this is going to happen..."
