Chapter 98 Sign of the Ace
KIA
After learning the unfortunate news from Miaree and Marcy, I don't know how I will be able to be happy with the accomplishment and recognition I have received. Should I be ecstatic about the fact that I have the ace and that, according to Miaree and Marcy, I will come in first place among all of the players? Even though I've reached the pinnacle, I can't figure out why I'm feeling so down.
As soon as we got back to the classroom, everybody changed their attitude toward me to become much more friendly. Vera is not in the class that I am in, but some of her friends are, and they are trying to avoid eye contact with me.
"Hi, Kianna! Is it accurate to say that they intend to bring back the levels? I just got word that you had a conversation with the dean earlier. Have you had a conversation about it with her?" I was approached with a question as I was making my way to my seat, and as soon as I took a seat, the person suddenly moved in closer and began peppering me with more inquiries.
"Kianna, do you know for a fact that that is the case?"
"Does that imply that we are going to have to take yet another test, which is the IQ test?"
"Is that something that absolutely needs to be done? What are you going to do if you get a poor score?"
"At that point, you will be considered a member of the lowest tier."
"Oh, my goodness! " I cannot! Kianna, would you kindly discuss this matter with the dean so that it can be put to an end? Aside from that, we are getting along just fine without the level...
"Since we have our ace up our sleeve, that scenario simply cannot take place. Kianna is the one who stands head and shoulders above the rest of us, so she is the ace. It is imperative that we show her respect because she will serve as the group's leader.
"Kianna, allow me to assist you in whatever you require!"
"Kianna, would you be interested in having me serve as your personal assistant? There is no need to compensate me; all you have to do is guarantee that I will not be placed in the lowest tier!
"Kianna!"
"Kianna!"
Kianna, if you could hear me please!
They were forced to come to a halt when someone pounded very loudly on the door. As soon as our instructor, Mrs. Vega, entered the room, they returned without delay to the seats that had been assigned to them.
"What the heck is going on with all of this confusion?! God! Ms. Saavedra was only recently recognized for her role as the Ace, and here you are showing disrespect toward her. She is currently your ace, so mind your manners! Mrs. Vega yelled at her son in an angry tone.
Suddenly, a student raised her hand and participated in the conversation. That would be the young lady who inquired about the possibility of working for me as a maid. "Madam, we were just asking Kianna whether or not they were going to make the level come back..."
"Goodness! I don't understand why you students are so stressed about your grades. If you are confident that you are putting in the effort necessary to reach the middle tier of the game, then you do not need to worry about the levels. In point of fact, I was planning to make an announcement about precisely that subject this morning. As a result, I ask that everyone listen very carefully. But before we get to that, would it be possible for me to bring Ms. Saavedra, our Ace, up here? Would it be possible for you, Ms. Saavedra, to come with me here? Mrs. Vega interrupted.
I have no choice but to get to my feet and follow her to the front of the room because all of the students' gazes are directed in my direction. I was standing next to her when all of a sudden she reached into her bag and pulled something out. It is a relatively modest-sized container. “Here. "The dean wanted you to have this," she said as she handed it to me, and I took it in my hands.
When I opened the package, I was taken aback to find that it contained a necklace that had a pendant in the shape of a spade that was topped with a crown. However, that was not the case at all because the object in question is made of gold.
"The Dean of Students requested that you continue to use that moving forward. That is the symbol of an ace, and whoever wears it should be accorded the utmost respect from their peers. A member of the ace team also has an office, just like the dean does. Your mission at this university is to maintain order among all of the students and staff and keep the peace. Every single member of our centralized student government will follow the instructions you give them. Everything that they planned must be passed to you, and without your signature, the dean will not allow it to proceed without it. You have just been promoted to the uppermost tier—"
She stopped when she heard my classmates whispering, and the whispering grew louder and louder until it encircled the entire room.
"Quiet! — I am grateful... As I've already mentioned, Ms. Saavedra will now take over as the official leader of not only the high tier but also all of the lower levels as well. If you were all so curious about whether or not the levels will be implemented again, the answer is yes; the dean wants it to be reinstated. The dean is confident that Ms. Saavedra will be able to handle everything in an appropriate manner because we already have an ace in our team.
Suddenly, the hand of one of the students goes up. Mrs. Vega signaled with a hand gesture that she would listen to what he had to say. "Ma'am, can you please tell us how we can determine our levels? Do we still need to take another test like the IQ test?"
"Good question, Mr. Sandoval. Regarding the question you asked, the reply is that this is not the case. You are not required to take the intelligence test because everything will be determined based on how well you are performing currently. Therefore, if you did not give your best effort during the previous semester, you should prepare yourself to be placed in the lower tier of students. However, if you are honest with yourself and know that you can improve your performance by studying harder, then you can relax knowing that you will be in the middle of the pack, or possibly even in the top pack. After Mrs. Vega's response, many of my classmates voiced their curiosity by asking additional questions.
"Ma'am, can you tell us when we will find out our levels?"
"You will know it soon, we are just making sure that everything is arranged correctly," she said. "You will find out soon."
"When is the first part of the level going to begin?"
"It will begin as soon as you receive each of your respective levels... You may now return to your seat, Ms. Saavedra. Thank you for your cooperation."
"Madam, is it possible for us to ask the dean for another chance to take the exam, or can we just retake it?" I am aware that I did well enough on the previous test to pass the midterm, but the grades I received before weren't all that impressive."
A brief pause was observed on the part of Mrs. Vega. "Alright, just give me a few moments," the speaker said. "Before I leave, I am going to call the dean and ask her about it," she said as she was walking out of the room. After a few minutes, she returned with a blank expression, which caused everyone in the room to become anxious. She had gone outside and grabbed her phone in order to make a call to the dean.
"According to what the dean had said, none of the students would be permitted to sit for any additional examinations."
The student's loud whisper can be heard throughout the room as it spreads from the student's direction. When it was announced that there would be no opportunity for anyone to retake the test, everyone felt an overwhelming sense of disappointment. Some people started crying, and I'm not sure how I should feel about this right now given that the adjustment to the system is having an impact on everyone.
“Quiet! Please give me the chance to finish first! The dean will not permit any more students to retake exams because she believes that students who did not perform exceptionally well in their previous work should be given the opportunity to improve their performance by working on a project. You will be assigned a project, and the results of your project will be factored into your grades.
Because after that, I have no idea where my brain went, that was the last thing that Mrs. Vega said that I understood, and after that, I completely lost it. I was physically present in the classroom, but mentally I was somewhere else. I had just settled in to wait for the break time when Mrs. Vega unexpectedly called my number as soon as her period was over.
"Yes, ma'am?"
"I need to make a request of you, and I hope you won't mind. "I am told that a dean has asked me to make this request," she explained.
Is the dean going to make another request? Is this how it feels to have achieved the highest possible level?
"Ms. Ventura has been assigned to work with you on the project, and the dean has asked you to work with her. owing to the fact that she was the one who accused you of doing something that you did not do. Since she admitted to everything, the dean wanted to give her a chance even though she was placed in the lower tier of students by the dean. Will you be able to pull something like that off?
A collaborative effort with the student at this institution whom I despise the most? This is ridiculous to the extreme...
