Chapter 10 Draco's Secret
Angela POv
I sit down to eat the meal the two men prepared for me. I push the food on the plate watching the two of them. I wonder what they are hiding from me. I watch them talking to each other and ignoring me. I want to know what the hell is going on, and I am about to lose it. They keep talking about the auctions and tracking the auctions. It is all going over my head.
"I feel really left out of this situation. Will one of you please explain all of this to me? " I ask. I throw my fork down on the plate in anger.
The two stop talking and look at me and then go back to their conversation. So, I guess that is that. I get up from the table, mad as hell. I leave my plate and go to the front door. As I open the door, Aspen rushes up behind me, pushes the door shut, and looks at me in a disapproving manner.
"Where are you going, Angela? Are you not aware of how much danger lurks outside this door for you?" Aspen asks me.
"I do not know, but as far away from you as possible. I am not worried about the danger. I can take care of myself," I say to him.
"Why? Are you so angry with us?" he asks.
"Why? I don't know why. Maybe because I feel lied to or maybe because you are a liar or maybe because the two of you will not tell me what is going on here," I answer him.
Aspen is holding the door as I try to open it. Draco comes into the room with us. "Angela, calm down. There is no reason for you to know everything that is going on with the auctions. It is probably better if you do not know. Stop being so hot-headed. Just trust us to do what is right for you," Draco says to me.
"I have a strange feeling I should not trust either of you," I say.
Aspen leans down and kisses me. "You can trust me, I promise. I would never hurt you," Aspen says to me.
He looks back at Draco, who disapproves of Aspen kissing me. "Great, this is just what we need," Draco bitches. He leaves us alone to talk and goes back into the kitchen.
"What is with him?" I ask.
"Nothing, I am sure he is just concerned for you and for his sister," Aspen says.
"Well, maybe, he has always looked out for me. Draco and Deanne have always been very close, so I know he must be upset," I say.
"Look, I need to talk to Draco about our next move. Why don't you go upstairs and lie down for a while, get some rest? I know you need it," Aspen says to me.
"I do, but I want to know why he is not looking for Deanne," I say.
Draco marches back into the front room of the house to me. "I am looking for her. You had to go and get in the middle of all this and obviously got tangled up with a wolf yourself. Angela, you always make things so complicated," Draco says.
I look up to Aspen. "It is not like that," I say.
"Did he tell you about Deanne and me?" Draco asks me.
"Yes, I know about you. I do not understand, but I know about your condition," I say.
"My condition, you say. I am a damn vampire, and Deanne is a fairy hybrid. They want to use her for breeding a unique type of vampire. I cannot believe they did not jump on having you, Angela," Draco yells.
"Me, what about me. I am just nothing. I am not unique in any way whatsoever," I say.
Draco stomps his foot and has a tantrum. He throws his hands around like a child. Then looks at me and points both hands at me. "Yes, you are. I cannot believe you have not figured it out yet, Angela. You are special," Draco says to me.
"Special, how the hell am I special? I am not a vampire or a hybrid or anything like that. I am just a fucking med student that was trying to help her friend," I say. Draco is frustrating me. He has always been able to get me riled up over the smallest thing, but this is pissing me off.
Draco leaves without answering my question. I look to Aspen, and he is equally puzzled. "How the hell am I special? What did he mean by all of that?" I ask him.
"I do not know, but I will find out, okay," Aspen says.
Aspen kisses me on the forehead. "Go upstairs, lay down for a while. I will be up in a bit. Let me handle Draco and his hissy fit, okay," Aspen says.
I go up the stairs to wait on him. I am confused. How am I special? I was not wounded when the Alpha tried to hurt me. Other than that, I cannot think of a single time I was ever considered special. I have no family, and I have no one. I have Deanne and her family, but I do not even know who my parents are. I was left at the hospital when I was a baby. If I am so special, then why did my parents abandon me.
I go into the bedroom and go straight to the bed. I should sleep. I am exhausted, and I have not slept in days. My mind is racing now, making it hard to rest and sleep. Aspen is right; I need to rest. I pull the covers over me and close my eyes. I try to burrow into the soft bed and sleep.
When I open my eyes, Aspen is lying beside me, holding me so tightly. I roll over and look at him. He is awake. "Hi," I say softly.
"Hey," he says back.
"Are you and Draco done talking? Is he done having a temper tantrum, I guess would be the better question?" I ask.
"Yeah, he is having a meltdown, but he will be okay. He is putting everything together so he can bid on Deanne and get her back from the wolves. He is on edge. He wants his sister back," Aspen says.
"Did he tell you what makes me so special?" I ask Aspen.
"Yes, he did, Angela. You are not going to believe what I am going to tell you," Aspen says.
I wait for a moment. I am almost afraid to ask him what makes me so special. "Aspen, just tell me. After everything I have seen lately I could almost believe anything," I say.
"It seems that Draco's parents knew your parents. They have been watching over you for years," Aspen says.
"I know I am not a vampire or a wolf," I say sarcastically.
"No, you are not a vampire or a wolf. It is a little more complicated than that," Aspen says.
"Okay, then what the hell am I?" I ask.
"For one, you are the most beautiful creature I have ever met in my life, and I know I am in love with you," Aspen says.
"I love you, too," I say softly. I lean into him and kiss him.
"Angela, you are what we call a tribrid. You are all three. This is something that is almost impossible. A fairy hybrid cannot carry a wolf child to term, but occasionally a miracle happens, and a tribrid is born, like you," Aspen says.
"I am so confused," I say.
"Your parents did not abandon you. They feared for your life. They hid you away. Draco's family has kept an eye on you. One of the reasons they begged you not to get involved. You would be a big ticket for the auction. The vampires and wolves would go nuts to possess you," Aspen says.
"This is too much. You are telling me one of my parents was a fairy hybrid and the other a wolf," I say.
"Yes, but I understand this a lot to take into your brain all at once. Try to get some rest. I will have Draco tell you more after you rest. It would be easier for him to explain it to you than me," Aspen says.
"Did he say where my parents are now?" I ask.
Aspen shakes his head. "No, but I am sure he can fill you in on everything later," Aspen says.
Aspen pulls me close to him. He wraps his arms around me holding me. I love being in his arms. I lay in Aspen's arms and drift into a deep sleep. He is my safe zone.
