SCENE 34
"Considering, that based on the facts, obtained during the trial period from the testimonies of witnesses, as well as the testimony of the defendant and existing evidence, it was known that on Saturday, November 21 at around 11:34, was close to the Hill Road to Down raod, defendant Mark driving a four-wheeled vehicle, had hit a woman named Cheryl Anastasia who was crossing the road—"
Rose immediately left the room from the trial, unable to hear any further. Make herself worse and worse at the same time. She should have been there to accompany Juna because that man was the witness that continued until today's trial, and the verdict was guilty.
Delisha also joined but didn't dare to go inside. The woman was waiting outside, with the sash covering her head, the clothes typical of mourning people.
Rose closed her mouth and immediately hugged Delisha, wiping her snot and tears with a tissue.
"We're strong, right?" asked Rose, even though her body was still shaking.
"Yes, we will always be strong for Cheryl. Auntie is planting chrysanthemum flowers that have flourished and bloomed, this time yellow, which year you want to see." Rose only nodded. They slowly began to live a normal life, although it was no longer the same.
"Yes, we'll wait for them to come out. I'll go to Aunty's house. Don't keep crying." Delisha could only shake her head, whether because the answer was yes or no. Everything feels ambiguous and awry.
Rose watched Cheryl's mother. The white woman was so gloomy and also looked a little thin. Maybe until this moment, Delisha hasn't given up. Yes, who would be sincere if your daughter's departure was so sudden and brought profound regret to those who were left behind.
"Aunt happy?" Rose closed her mouth again, stupid question.
"I mean, there's Cheryl's father. Uh, sorry, forget the stupid question." Rose turned around and hit her mouth many times. How could she slip away?
Delisha just looked down. After a long time, she looked like an old granny. There is no power. But it seems that she has not been completely sincere until this moment.
"Hopefully, we are strong, Auntie." Delisha was silent.
They are waiting for the results of the trial verdict on the perpetrator of the Cheryl incident.
"Imposing a sentence on the defendant is, therefore, punishable by five years imprisonment and 20 (twenty) days."
Juna said that the final verdict was whether he should feel relieved or less because the party being burdened was the victim. Juna, who sided with the victim, also had to admit that Cheryl was wrong because she accidentally did not hear the horn that had been sounded many times. When emotions do bring about this kind of impact, it's a shame that lives are lost.
"That bastard should be dead too!" shrieked Rose did not accept it. Rose hopes that the two of them will exchange their lives, the perpetrator of Cheryl's attacker dies, and Cheryl returns to life even though it's impossible.
"Why don't you defend him?" Rose grabbed Juna by the collar, growled. The man was silent when Rose was on a rampage. It can't be helped, and the accuser has many mitigating factors. He regrets and has never been involved in the law before. All the witnesses were damning to the victim because the careless Cheryl paid no heed to her surroundings.
"Return?" Ayden asked as he walked out of the courtroom. He has spoken with the perpetrators, who on their part are sorry, even though they wanted to help pay for the burial, but Ayden refused. He refused the money if he wanted to buy it all the time he had to stay with Cheryl. In all of Cheryl's diary, Ayden instalments little by little to strengthen his heart.
"Let us go home," Ayden asked, holding out her hand. Delisha reaches for his hand. Rose was touched, saw the sight. Cheryl leaves by uniting two long-lost souls.
"Should you be happy or sad to see that sight?" Rose asked Juna when they saw how attentive Ayden was to Delisha. Perhaps, Cheryl will be happy to see this sight, her parents reunite.
"I don't know, and they are still beaten, so leave it like that." Rose took Juna's hand. The two of them walked out of the court office. Rose rested her head on Juna's arm. Yes, Juna is tall, and he's not that tall.
"How many years have we been dating?" asked Rose to Juna.
"Five years, 74 days," answered Juna. Rose laughed, hugging Juna with affection.
"I think it's just me, the most patient woman. Dating five years, it's like a car instalment, but not married." Rose pout. Juna tugged at his lover's nose affectionately.
"Finish college first. If you get married now, do you want to take your child everywhere?"
"We can progress to have no child first. Don't want to know, marry me." sulked Rose. Juna just shook his head exasperatedly. Rose are sometimes mature and childish. However, Rose is wiser and more mature in dealing with every problem that exists.
"What flowers?" asked Juna, confused.
"The flower of our love marriage."
"I will cry later." Rosw only pinched Juna's waist. Yes, their relationship is just like this, Rose loves Juna so much and vice versa. Five years of getting along well with each other, not a short time, and already understanding each other if both of them want to marry young
"When it's ready, the wedding will be next year." Juna just nodded. Yes, the mother of her children can't wait.
______________
"How do you feel?" Ayden asked Delisha, who was silent, even though the woman had been silent since Cheryl's departure.
"Maybe we celebrate a little by eating today."
"Celebrate?" asked Delisha, incredulous. Her daughter left for good and is now celebrating? What do they want to celebrate?
"It's not like that, Lisha. I mean, look at how we have been lately. At least, don't keep torturing yourself. We eat well, for God's sake, not to celebrate our daughter's departure."
"For some reason, I hate people claiming their daughter when my daughter is gone. My daughter are still hanging around. They never care." Ayden fell silent. Yes, he was sorry and devastated by this. What could he do if the fate of death had picked Cheryl first before their daughter got to know him more closely?
"I know, the discussion is endless. But, do you think I never care? You should know from the beginning what kind of thing. Who forbids it. I can only see from a distance. Please, Lisha, understand my condition." Delisha sobbed, even more, remembering what happened in the past. When sshe slumped, ah until this second, she was never happy.
"Forget all the bad things from the past. Make it a lesson for today. Don't waste your age just looking back and complaining. Don't do it."
The warm grip was able to relieve the turmoil in her chest. Delisha was silent, and forever no one would roam her house. Maybe there is only emptiness until the fate of death picks upon her.
"Lisha ... How long do you want to be like this? Aren't you always going down, and until you are old, you still want to fall? Life must go on. Hold my hands and walk together. You don't need to be afraid to fall, and I will always take care of you, protect you. Because it's my job from the first, protect you." Ayden wiped the woman's tears. The man who once filled her heart when she was a teenager. A young girl who was very beautiful and still had an aura of beauty, but Cheryl's departure was fading.
"We'll be happy." Ayden embraced Delisha fondly.
"We cook okay. Later, take Juna and hia girlfriend, eat, give up everything, and we can live normally."
Those calming words made Delisha calm down a little and mourned her tears.
___________________
"Do you want to eat fish sauce?" actually, Delisha wasn't that interested in this menu. But she remembered dreaming of cooking this for Cheryl.
"For the seasoning, everything is ready." Today, Ayden can again see Delisha's smile buried and now back to her feet, seeing that there is a special relief for him.
Both of them indeed invited Juna and Rose to enjoy a special dinner.
And now, both of them are busy in the kitchen. Delisha doesn't know if Ayden is good at cooking. The man was so adept at cleaning the fish and frying and preparing all the sauces. Delisha only cleans the vegetables and the chopping part.
"Watch out if the oil floats. It can burn."
"How can oil float? Does he have wings?" argued Ayden. Delisha realized her ridiculousness and laughed so straightforwardly. Ah, the ballot box that Spongebob stole has returned.
The woman was still laughing, and she unconsciously sliced off her hand.
"Shit! Blood." Delisha shrieked unconsciously when she saw the blood flowing profusely.
"Why?"
"This." Delisha only showed her bleeding index finger. Ayden took her hand and sucked the blood out, leaving Delisha speechless. And her heart was beating fast, and she had to see a doctor immediately if she still wanted to breathe because she was having trouble breathing right now. Delisha held her breath.
"Alright." Delisha was still silent, not just the sudden action. But, Ayden also ingested all of her blood. The blood is not removed.
"Ehem ..." Delisha cleared her throat, and Ayden came to his senses. The man immediately took the hand plate and put it on Delisha's finger. Both of them returned to their respective activities.
"Would you like some wine?"
"Wine?"
"Yes. If you don't want to, it's okay."
"Fine. I want to try." Yeah, at least forget for a moment the emptiness that's been feeling lately.
"Later, Juna and his girlfriendsl will come. We eat together."
Finally, Delisha started taking a proper shower. She had been polishing herself a little and was dressed the best today. A simple cut dress with a mix of pink and turquoise, the soft, bright colours convey how she feels now.
Ayden drank water many times. He felt his throat was dry when he saw Delisha's performance tonight.
"This is so delicious?" Rose wore a short orange dress that fit her body.
"Huh, all fresh. It's just like summer, huh." cursed Rose when she saw, Delisha's aura, which returned to a little cherry after a few weeks, collapsed with the situation.
"Let's eat," asked Ayden, proud of what he achieved today. That gloomy aura was replaced with a face that sincerely accepted fate. That's how it should be, right?
"Well, the fish sauce," Ayden commented.
"Uh no, it's spoiled sweet saus fish," argued Delisha. Rose was silent. Since when did these two older people get along?
"All right, let's eat." cried Rose, taking the spoon and the plate. Juna can only shake his head. When it comes to food, Rose is the champion. It could be that when he gets married later, he will go bankrupt because Rose's food portion is too much. Well, doesn't he love this girl with all her flaws?
"Uhm ... This is seriously delicious." praised Rose when she tried sauteing the kale with the shrimp paste. Delisha, take some rice and fish sauce that she dreams of like in her dreams. The beautiful woman saw the empty chair in front of her, next to Rose and fantasized about it. Certainly, Cheryl will continue to praise her cooking and thank you as long as she eats and can add two more times. Delisha looked down and saw the tears that escaped falling on the white rice. Ah ... She missed it too much, when she even closed her eyes, Cheryl always came to see her with such a beautiful body. It's not like last time, Cheryl's body was crushed by accident. Hopefully, her daughter will be happy in heaven.
Ayden knows Delisha's mood. Take the woman's hand and one hand to eat.
"Can you add this or not?" asked Rose. Ayden handed her a large plate of fish that was left with bones waiting behind.
"Please. Finish it, and you won't eat again later either."
"Brush the boss." Rose was excited to take her food. Delisha looked at her daughter's best friend. Rose and Cheryl's attitude was the same. So, she only needed to see Rose even though she was with a different person and body.
"Oh yes, uncle. Can I ask for your blessing? What about we marriage next month?"
"It's usually a boy who applies."
"You know it's been a long time. I've been dating for five years," said Rose while looking at Juna, who was eating quietly.
"When you're ready to get married."
"That's what." Rose nudged Juna. But the guy was silent. Oh, he thought about this, but not now. The responsibility must be heavy, and it is not easy to build two heads into one. When the expectation is awake, someone will prepare the food, and it could be the fact that the wife is still stretched out in bed. Or, if your wife wants to be pampered at night, your wife might be tired first taking care of the house alone. Getting married is not about who is fast, but how to marry who is right and especially the readiness of each.
"If you feel ready, father does not forbid it for good. But, your expectation of marriage and reality is inversely proportional. You are still too young. Make the best use of your time. But if you feel you can take responsibility, I agree."
"Yes, father. Indeed the best in-law," said Rose shamelessly. Delisha just smiled, just like her only daughter.
Ayden looked at Juna, who was still silent. There was great doubt. He was afraid that he could not hold the heavy mandate that he would carry.
"Think about the pros."
Everyone fell silent. And enjoy a meal in residence.
________________
"Remember, think about everything carefully before making your decisions that will affect the next decades," Ayden ordered Rise and Juna.
"Don't be sad. Cheryl is already happy," whispered Rose while hugging Delisha.
"Be, my beautiful in-laws." Delisha glared. What the hell is this all about?
Delisha just stood in front of the house, looking at Rose and Juna's car that they had walked a long way.
"Ah, if my daughter was still there. I would be happy, and she introduced her boyfriend to me." Yes, Cheryl has never known the opposite sex. Before she felt the drama, she was gone. Delisha lowered her head, still not receiving everything completely.
"So drink wine? Have it prepared?" Delisha turned and went inside the house. Isn't it? She is always accompanied by loneliness. Why do you have to be sad outside feeling sad like this?
Delisha sat back down on the bench earlier. And the plates that had been removed were only the wine bottle which Delisha didn't know, and the two glasses were filled with the liquid.
"Cheers." Delisha raised her glass and gave Ayden the two glasses kissing. The sweet, slightly sour taste burned Delisha's tongue and throat.
"Ah, this is better."
"Maybe want to try a drink outside?" ask Ayden. Delisha nodded. She had made a gazebo behind her house to enjoy the flowers she planted in memory of Cheryl.
"The moon is bright tonight. Hopefully, Cheryl is shining too. Look, all the flowers are lush." Delisha looked up. A sprinkling of stars always reminded him of his childhood, how useless he was and how lonely he was.
"Thinking about what?" Ayden whispered in her ear as he draped the woman's hair back. Delisha shook her head, but she felt the warm breath on the nape of her neck. Delisha could feel the smell of the wine Ayden had just drunk.
"May our daughter be happy. Don't forget you have to be happy. I want to make you happy, Lisha." Ayden said in a low voice but sounded very earnest. His left hand was wrapped around Delisha's stomach, and rested his chin on her shoulder.
"Cheryl is here to separate us as well as unite us," Ayden whispered.
"What do you mean?" Delisha turned around, but her lips had been silenced. With a lip that had greeted her decades ago, and now the two of them are in friendship.
______________
A guy is just watching the beauty of the moon while hugging his knees, not expecting all this.
"Idiot girl, what troubles everyone." cursed Aldo. Now, he no longer has a passion for life. That stupid girl has brought it all.
"Happy there, stupid girl. Don't be so stupid." Aldo ordered while looking at the round moon with a sprinkling of stars around it.
