62. Food for me.
Winifred was now in the claws of the vampire prince again who was a mad prince that didn't stop at anything to get her. He wanted her at all cost, but she was not ready to give in to him. She was in his room that afternoon when someone knocked on his door. He was also in the room, but in his bathroom, she was trying to avoid any sort of confrontation with him.
She had been staying in his room for a day now, he didn't try any foul play with her, yet but she dreaded the day day he would. He didn't seem so patient. Whenever he wants to go out, he would lock the door from outside, so she would not be able to run away when he's not around. She had tried other means to escape, but she couldn't find any, so she accepted her fate and stayed still. Somehow, she still believed someone will save her when the right time comes.
"You have a visitor," Winifred said aloud to him, so he could hear her.
"Tell the person to come in." He replied from his bathroom.
"Come in!" She replied. The door went ajar immediately and a man walked in. He was surprised to see someone other than the prince seated on his bed, but he didn't say anything. The man was one of the king's men. He had come to deliver a message to him.
"Is my prince in?" He asked Winifred.
"Yes, your Prince, Lord or whatever is inside." She replied as sarcastically as possible.
"He's your lord and Prince too, and—"
"He's not my lord!" She snapped at him, which made him stare at her, wondering if she knew the danger of what she had just said.
Xavier walked out of the bathroom and immediately the man saw him, he went down his knees and bowed his head, then remained in that position.
"The fuck?" Winifred muttered to herself. "I thought they only bow as a form of respect. What's this?"
"My Prince" the man said to Xavier, still in the same position on his knees.
"Yes?"
"I have gathered the humans, my prince. Everyone of them that you bought are already outside, ready for use."
"Use?" Winifred muttered to herself with a confused expression on her face. "Are they some sort of thing that can be used anyhow? This disgusts and scares me, for real." She said to herself, and it was not loud for any of the men in the room to hear.
"Good. I'll be there when I'm less busy." Xavier replied.
"Yes, my prince. " The man said.
"You can leave," he said to him and only then did the man stand up from his knees. He bowed his head to him again, and then left, closing the door behind him.
"What was that about?" Winifred asked Xavier curiosly, immediately the slave man left them. "The whole discussion you just had with that man?"
"What was what about?"
"I said the whole discussion you just had with that man about some humans. What was that about? What does he mean by ready for use?" She asked him sternly.
"Oh, that? He obviously meant my food, I haven't fed for days now." He replied and chuckled mischievously.
"Food?" Winifred asked, raising her eyebrows at him. "What do you mean by food?"
"Why do you ask so many questions? Ugh, did you not say that you weren't interested in me? Why then are you questioning me like you want to know so much about me?" He asked and walked closer to the bed where she sat. "Did you change your mind overnight? Would you like to be with me now?"
She scoffed before replying him. "You wish." There was silence for some seconds before she asked again. "I am simply curious because those are my kind and it's high time I learn somethings about this place, it's so different. So tell me, what do you mean by food?"
"Why are you acting dumb, uh?!" He suddenly snapped at her, which made her flinch. She wasn't expecting that. "I am a vampire. What do we take? We suck blood, woman! Blood! We feed on human blood, we need it for survival!" He exclaimed.
It was until he said it that the realization hit her. The humans he had bought that the man from before was saying were the people he wanted to suck their blood. The thought of it alone made her even more terrified as a look of hate crossed her face. "Your kind really are animals, the worst of them all!" She stated as she glared at him.
Feeling unbothered, he chuckled. "That's your problem, really. It's not like we can help it, we are born that way, so if you have anybody to blame, maybe blame the creator?"
"Oh please. If what I heard about this place was true then you guys are the ones who started the human blood thing. You used to feed on animal blood and then all of a sudden, one of you tasted human blood and you went rogue." Winifred countered.
"Well, it's not our fault that we discovered the best blood ever, is it? Would you go back to eating bland food when you discover the best one with enough spice? You ask so much questions or do you want to join them so you can become food for me too?"
"Are you even—"
"Nah, I would not even want to do that. You already have a purpose you are to serve for me." He said and smiled at her before walking to the front of this standing mirror to check himself in it.
"And what purpose is that?"
"You still don't know? Look at your features and tell me what you think your purpose would be."
She scoffed as she stared at him. She knew he was trying to tell her that she was going to be his sex slave, but she was never going to allow that. "I would never do anything for you or serve you in any manner! And I promise you, when Arthur finds you, you're so dead!"
Xavier burst into a hearty laughter. His laughter resounded in the room for the next minute and when he stopped, he looked at her from inside the mirror, without actually turning to face her. "You continue to amaze me. You must have so much faith in your king that you think he would come all the way to save his slave."
"He is not heartless like you! Besides, I am more than a slave to him! So, don't think everyone is just like you."
"Hmm. If you were more than a slave to him, why then did you run away from the palace? Or weren't you fleeing and got stranded on the way and collapsed? Or why did we meet you on the way?" He asked as he turned to face her, his arms akimbo. As good-looking as he was, he was also evil. His looks and level of evilness goes hand in hand.
"I didn't ask you to save me. You should have left me there to die." She snapped at him.
"You know, if you had died, I wouldn't mind. I have a harem of women already and I am quite sure you saw all of them yesterday when we brought you in. I could release you to them and you won't last a night. To them, you are a new sex toy who has come to take their place. So, will you rather be with me or I should release you to them to suck your blood? You're a human after all, and human blood is one delicious meal every vampire craves." He said and giggled. "Human blood is the best."
The sound of his giggle only made Winifred more angry as she glared at him. His words also made her shiver a bit. No one needed to tell her that she was stuck in his palace. Nobody in their kingdom could ever trace her to being in his palace.
"But if you do what I ask you to do," he started again. "I would make you my one and only queen when I become king. You see, I am still single, so it's better you grab this opportunity now before I pick someone else over you."
"Pick whatever damn person you want to! I'd never be your queen or serve you or do anything for you! You asshole!" She snapped at him angrily.
He was about to reply when his door went ajar and both their heads turned to the person that stormed in without knocking.
"It's the king, my lord! The king!" The slave that just rushed in exclaimed, panting heavily like he had been running from a mile.
"What is it?! What happened to him?!" Xavier asked immediately as he rushed towards the slave.
"You need to see him now! He's not breathing properly anymore! He's breathing faster than normal!" The slave exclaimed.
The king was on his sick bed already and hearing that his father was hyperventilating, that only meant one thing for him. His father would die soon.
Immediately, he stormed out of the room, followed by the slave that had just come to call him, while Winifred just stood there staring at them.
