Chapter 10

We sat there for quite a long while in each other’s arms. At some point, I broke down in tears, crying for all the tears I had refused to shed for years. I cried for what Lisa’s brother did to me. I cried for what my brute of a roommate did to me. I cried for all the years of neglect from my parents and my sister. I cried for the constant fear I have been living in. I cried for this new found companionship. Story cut short? I cried a lot.

Later we went up and I spread the blanket and brought down my pillow while Paige went to take a shower. Haley was sleeping deeply all the while.

When Paige came out of the bathroom, she looked at me and then at my makeshift bed, then she shrugged smiling and went to get dressed while I quickly ran into the bathroom with my clothes to clean up and get ready for bed.

After I had showered and dressed, I stepped out of the bathroom to find Paige lying down on my makeshift bed.

“You can either lay on the bed with Haley or here on the floor with me. Either way, you are sharing a bed with someone tonight. You have got to get over that fear. Trust me, we won’t hurt you. I won’t hurt you, promise.” She said.

I eyed the bed with Haley spread out on it, and then Paige on my makeshift bed. I did this for a while before I finally crawled into my makeshift bed with Paige. I laid down so close to the edge that half of my body was on the floor. Paige did not say a word, and soon I drifted off to sleep.

I ran and ran, but they were still right behind me. I could hear their footsteps, they were so close. I could feel their breaths on the back of my head, they were that close. I could hear their maniacal laughter booming as Lisa’s brother and my roommate chased me with blood dripping from the corner of their mouths. MY blood dripping from the corner of their mouths. I looked down, and I was covered in blood. I could not take it anymore, I started to scream.

“Kat, Kat, wake up. It’s okay. Come on, open your eyes. It’s me Paige. Wake up”. I heard Paige’s comforting voice as she shook me ever so gently.

I quickly opened my eyes and I wondered what it all meant. What happened? Paige asked, drawing me back to reality. Hmm, it’s actually really scary shaking off the odd feelings it give me as I tried to recall.

“So what happened? you were talking out loud”. She said. “I was being chased by them”. I replied. “Who?” asked Paige. “Both of them”. I replied.

Seriously, I could see the shock on her face as I told her how it all. “Well, thank God it’s all a dream” She said as she hugged me tight.
