Chapter 12
"Rise and shine people! Rise and shine!!" Someone yelled as whoever it was banged on the door of the room.
"Whyyyyyyyyyy?!" Haley screeched as she sat up rubbing her eyes.
"I am so going to kill whoever is making that racket" Paige mumbled as she opened her eyes.
"Quit pounding on my door or I will end you!" I shouted at whoever was at the door.
The pounding continued for about twenty more seconds before it finally stopped.
"Hey, good morning you two" Haley said looking down at us.
"Hiya" I mumbled.
"Good morning to you too" Paige replied Haley.
Paige got off the floor and extended her hand to pull me up. I warily put my hand in hers and she pulled me up.
I had absolutely no idea what was running through her mind. She did not seem upset, she did not appear sad, she did not look happy either. There was this passive expressionless lookmon her face, I could not phantom what she was thinking.
She put the pillows back on the bed, while I quickly folded the blanket and put it away in the closet. We haven't really said a word to each other.
"I call dibs on the bathroom" Haley said as she quickly grabbed her stuff and practically ran into the bathroom.
"Such a child" Paige said shaking her head.
I decided to go get some coffee downstairs because I needed a "pick me up". Yes, I am a coffee addict. I love love love coffee. I hardly go a day without coffee.
I walked down the stairs and into the kitchen, I walked straight to the coffee maker and put some coffee on. I reached into the cupboard and brought out a cup, and poured myself a nice cup of black coffee. I sat by the island to peacefully drink my coffee.
Just then, Asher walks in to the kitchen clad in grey sweatpants and a white t-shirt.
"Good morning" he greeted cheerfully as he walked up to the coffee maker.
"Good morning to you too" I replied. "You are all cheerful this morning" I said smiling .
"I am, aren't I?" He said smiling.
"Slept well, huh?" I asked returning his smile
"Yes. Yes I did indeed." He replied still smiling cheekily.
"Good to hear" I returned. "Want some coffee?" I asked as I noticed him eyeing the coffee pot.
"Sure, I could use a little caffeine jolt this morning" he said.
"Well, there's plenty left in the pot. Help yourself to a cup or two. The cups are over there in the cupboard.' I said pointing to the cupboard where we keep our cups and plates.
My parents were not big on change, they have been keeping their cups and plates in the very same place since I was a kid. The furniture in the living room was still the same, save for the repainting and finishing that had recently been done.
Asher poured himself a cup of coffee and came over to take a seat beside me. He sat there sipping his coffee and staring right at me. I ignored his obvious stare and continued savouring my coffee. This carried on for quite sometime before he finally spoke up.
"Raven black"
"What?" I asked confused.
"Your hair" he clarified gesturing at my hair with his cup, "It's Raven black, black as midnight. I like it" he said.
"Well, thank you" I said smiling. "I like your hair too" I pointed out.
"Oh my gawd, thanks" he said in a high pitched voice flipping his hair in a girly fashion.
He looked so funny batting his eyes at me as he did another hair flip that I could not control myself. I promptly burst into laughter, soon Asher joined in. When the laughter finally died down, he touched the ends of his hair saying "I am actually thinking of getting a haircut. I think I have let my hair grow too long." He said. ",Or as my grandmother would say, unfashionably long" he finished.
His hair fell in waves below his neckline and over his forehead. But, I kinda liked it. O wanted to run my fingers through them.
"I like your hair as it is" I said. "But, a little trim won't hurt" I added when I noticed his smirk.
"Well, since this is your territory. How about you take me to a good barber around here?" He asked.
"Sure. Why not?" I answered.
"Great. It's a date" He said as he went to the sink to drop his cup and then promptly left the kitchen .
