Chapter 4 (Mason's POV)
Today was the last day before Christmas.
Lucky for me, the girls were out again and we were alone at home with Rebecka.
Now I needed my best friend to help me put my plan into action.
Thank God for once he wasn't a stubborn pain in my ass and agreed to come over right away.
Probably because he was as bored as I was without his wife at home.
A few minutes later there was a knock at my door surprising me.
I was even more shocked when I looked through the peephole only to find Aron already standing on our porch.
"What did you get some kind of super speed or something? How did you manage to get here in only 2 minutes? I know we live close, but not that close."
I was glad to see my best friend smiling more in the past months since he got together with my sister.
He deserved all the happiness and I was even more sure about that ever since I found out about his mother and her evil plans.
She really was the complete opposite of Aron, and how such a woman could give birth to such an honest and good-hearted man, was beyond me. But his personality was probably a result of his aunt raising him.
Right now he was giving me one of his mega-watt smiles before he answered my question.
"No new superpowers. Sorry to disappoint you, Mas. I was just on my way already when you called me. It's hard to admit this to you, but I actually missed you and the little princess. "
A chuckle escaped me at his words because I could imagine how hard it was to admit those things for a man like Aron.
"Well, don't just stand here, come in. We have work to do."
As soon as we got settled in our living room I started to tell him my plan.
"We both know how much Rachel loves Christmas. So this year I wanted to surprise her and decorate everything for her. Also, I have a little surprise for her. I made a little pendant that has all our names engraved in it. And when I say all of us I mean also you, Becky, Vicky, and Ana. I know she always wanted a huge family and she finally has it. Even if it's a family that was rather chosen and not related to blood. But I can see how much she loves all of you guys. But now I need a good idea of how to give it to her. Some kind of a grand gesture if you get my point. To make it even more special."
His hand was under his chin, which meant he was already racking his brains for an idea.
We were sitting in silence for some time when suddenly he jumped to his feet.
His movement startled me and I jumped on my own feet.
"Let's get to work and we will come up with something while we work."
I nodded my head and we started decorating our little house.
It felt good to spend time with my best friend.
We were laughing and joking, having fun while we made sure everything was perfect.
Suddenly Aron froze and looked at me with eyes wide opened and shock written there.
"What about Christmas Eve or Christmas morning? I can't think of a better time than when we are all together. "
I slapped a hand over my forehead. How could I be such an idiot?
Of course, it would be the best time.
All of us would be in one place and giving gifts to each other, probably having the best Christmas any of us had so far.
So I decided that truly was the best and my only option.
We just finished with decorations, there was only the star that went on top of the tree left.
And at that moment all girls burst into our house giggling and clinging to each other.
"Hey gu….wooow Mason! Did you do this?"
I looked at my wife and saw all four girls staring at the decorations around our house in ave.
"Well, I and Aron did it while you girls were out. You like it?"
At that moment she turned her eyes my way and there was so much happiness that I felt like my heart was finally in its place.
"Like it? No Mason. I love it. I can't believe you did this for me."
And at that moment I realized, this moment right now was the perfect one, and thankfully I had the little pendant in my pocket.
So I got down on one knee and saw everyone looking at me like I was crazy.
"Uhm Mason. We are married already, you know? So you can't propose again…"
I chuckled at her.
"Of course, I know my love. But what I have for you is as important as our engagement was, so it felt appropriate. The shock was replaced with curiosity but she just gave me a nod, not saying a single word.
I took the pendant from my pocket and put it in her hand.
"I wanted to give you this present on Christmas eve, but I guess right now is just as perfect."
She opened the pendant with shaking hands and all three girls were surrounding her peeking at what I gave her.
As she opened it and saw it was meant as a gift from all of us I could hear teary ahhs from the girls but what mattered to me was my girl and when she lifted her head with a soft smile gracing her lips and those beautiful eyes of hers bringing with tears of happiness I knew I did the right thing to chose this moment.
The next thing I knew she was strangling me with the force of her hug, she was clinging to me so hard.
But I didn't mind one bit.
"Thank you, Mason. I love you and I always will."
What else could a man ask for?
