Chapter 2061 The Queen Returns (19)
Su Yan took Baozhu to a nearby restaurant for a nice meal, and it was already six o'clock when they finished eating.
No one has looked for Baozhu yet. That bastard Qu Song hasn't even asked where the child is since he saw her.
It was around 7 p.m. when it was completely dark.
Only then did Hu Mianmian feign panic.
"Oh no, oh no, Brother Qu, Baozhu is missing!"
Qu Song had just woken up, his head still aching, when he heard Hu Mianmian's panicked voice, which startled him awake.
"What? Where did the pearl go?"
Hu Mianmian pretended to cry and said, "I don't know either. She said she was going to the bathroom and then she never came back. I thought she was in her room. I was just about to call you guys to eat when I found out she wasn't there at all."
"What? Where did she go?"
"Could it be that she went ice skating again because she's playing around?"
"That brat, he's such a worry."
Qu Song put on his coat and went out to look for someone.
However, the ski resort had already closed, and the staff said that the mountain was closed at five o'clock, so there was no way anyone could be inside now.
"Let's look around first, just in case she went to play nearby."
Qu Song asked his assistant to help search. When the assistant saw Hu Mianmian, he couldn't help but ask, "Ms. Hu, you were the one looking after Baozhu before, how come it's gone?"
Hu Mianmian said angrily, "I can't keep an eye on her 24 hours a day after I came back. Who knew she would disappear in the blink of an eye?"
The assistant looked at her with some suspicion. How could a child like Baozhu, who was unfamiliar with the place, run around like that?
The group split up to search, but after searching every part of the hotel, they still couldn't find the child.
Worried that something might have happened to the child, Qu Song asked the hotel staff to help with the search.
The hotel staff checked the surveillance footage and searched everywhere, but still couldn't find Baozhu.
“The child hasn’t come back since she went out with you. There’s absolutely no way she could be in the hotel right now.”
"How could that be? We clearly came back together." Hu Mianmian insisted that they had come back together.
The staff found a video of her returning alone and said to Qu Song, "There is only a video of Ms. Hu returning alone; there are no children in it."
Hu Mianmian further explained, "She said she needed to use the restroom, and she ran ahead while I followed behind. How could she not have gone?"
Qu Song genuinely believed they had returned one after the other, and thought the child might have simply run away and gotten lost.
"Brother Qu, could it be that the child is hiding and deliberately scaring us to make us worry?"
"That brat, I'm going to give her a good beating when I find her."
After searching for two hours without finding the child, the assistant became a little scared. She quietly said to Qu Song, "Brother Qu, Baozhu was at the ski resort earlier. I left because I needed to use the restroom. Miss Hu was watching over her. Later, I met Miss Hu at the hotel, and she said that Baozhu had returned. I didn't see the child at that time. Do you think the child might not have come back?"
"How could that be? Mianmian said she's back, so she must be back."
"How about we go to the ski resort to look again?" the assistant suggested tentatively.
"The ski resorts are all closed, how are we supposed to find it now? Besides, it's getting dark and the temperature has dropped. The snow mountain is so big, how are we supposed to find it? And they won't let us in."
"What if the precious pearl is inside?"
"No way, absolutely impossible."
Qu Song was certain that Hu Mianmian couldn't possibly be so irresponsible.
The child must have hidden himself to scare them.
Hu Mianmian knew perfectly well that the child hadn't returned, but she insisted that the child had come back with her, and even fanned the flames from the sidelines.
"We have to talk to Baozhu when we find her. How could she joke about her own safety? What kind of education did her mother give her?"
Qu Song grew angrier the more he listened; this child was just too much of a worry.
"Once I find the child, I'm going to give her a good beating. And Su Yan, she spoils the child. I'll have to scold her when I get back too."
Hu Mianmian pretended to be understanding and said, "Now that she has custody of the child, whatever you say will probably make her feel like you're going against her. You should teach the child yourself more in the future. She is still your child, and you have the right to educate her."
"You're so sensible. If Su Yan were half as sensible as you, I would have less to worry about."
Hu Mianmian acted so innocently, as if the child had simply gotten lost while playing and that she had no responsibility whatsoever.
By 10 p.m., the child still hadn't been found, and Qu Song finally started to worry.
"Could something have happened to Baozhu?"
The assistant was also very anxious and suggested directly, "Let's call the police. If we wait any longer, something might really happen to the child."
Hu Mianmian added, "It hasn't even been 24 hours since she disappeared, I'm afraid the police won't help us find her."
Worried about not being able to explain himself to Su Yan, Qu Song said anxiously, "Let's call the police and find the child first."
Qu Song called the police, and they arrived quickly.
Their investigation revealed that the child had never returned.
The hotel staff had previously said that the child had gone out in the afternoon and had not returned, but they did not believe it and thought the hotel was shirking responsibility.
Now that the police investigation has yielded the same result, Qu Song has begun to have doubts.
“How could the children not have come back? Mianmian clearly said they came back together.”
When Hu Mianmian was called to give a statement by the police, she still insisted that the child had returned, but that the child wanted to go to the toilet and ran ahead while she followed behind.
The police then investigated the ski resort's surveillance footage, but unfortunately, the cameras at the ski resort's entrances and exits were broken, so they couldn't find out whether she had left the ski resort.
Hu Mianmian pretended to know nothing, saying confidently, "How could it be at the ski resort? We clearly left together."
She had heard before that the surveillance cameras were broken, which is why she dared to lie.
Keep searching. By the time they find the child's body tomorrow, it will be too late.
Perhaps even her body won't be found. The snow-capped mountains are so vast, and the snow is falling so heavily; who knows if she'll be buried by the snow?
The police began searching the mountain the next day, but still found nothing.
Hu Mianmian felt extremely happy when she saw that the police couldn't find Baozhu.
It's good that that brat is dead. Now there's no one standing between her and Qu Song, and Su Yan and Qu Song have no excuse to meet again.
Serves her right. She even tried to control Qu Song with the child. How dare she dream of that.
Overnight, Qu Song had grown stubble, but he had no interest in grooming it.
Now, what he fears even more is that he will not be able to explain the disappearance of his child to Su Yan.
What if she makes a scene?
At this moment, Su Yan called to ask where the child was, saying she was coming to pick him up.
Qu Song held the phone, unsure how to answer for a moment.
"I asked you where your child is, are you mute?"
"The child is still sleeping. When are you coming?"
"I'll be there today, so you'd better take good care of the child."
"I know, long-winded."
After hanging up the phone, Qu Song prepared to go out to look for the child again. He worried that Su Yan would not let the matter rest if the child could not be found.
