Chapter 1527 Sour Fruit
"Surrender to them? You coward! You can die now." The soldier who had been silent before now looked like a cold-blooded executioner. There was no mercy or hesitation on his face, and his eyes revealed an extreme paranoia and madness.
He gripped the hilt of the knife tightly with both hands and pushed it forward with force, as if he wanted to kill the colonel completely.
The atmosphere in the basement froze instantly, and everyone's eyes were focused on this bloody scene.
Sarutobi and his men were so stunned by this sudden turn of events that they forgot to react for a moment.
The army soldiers looked stunned, and some even opened their mouths wide but could not make any sound.
The colonel's body began to shake. He tried to grab something to support himself, but eventually he fell down weakly.
His eyes were still wide open, as if he had died with his eyes open.
Blood spread out under his body, forming a shocking pool of blood.
The murderous soldier drew his knife, and the blood on the blade dripped down, making a "tick-tick" sound, which was particularly harsh in the silent basement.
He glanced coldly at the people around him, as if declaring his own "justice".
Sarutobi finally came to his senses and shouted angrily, "What are you doing!"
As he said this, he was about to rush forward to subdue the soldier.
The other revolutionary soldiers also reacted and quickly surrounded the soldier.
The army soldiers looked at each other, not knowing what to do. The surrender that was originally about to be resolved peacefully instantly turned into a bloody conflict.
On the battlefield, smoke filled the air, and Porta was surrounded by a group of revolutionary soldiers. However, Porta showed no fear. Far from being nervous, his face was filled with a frenzied excitement. His eager expression was like an enraged beast, ready to devour anyone at any moment.
"Porta, stop being stubborn and put down your knife. It's time to end this meaningless battle." A comrade tried to persuade him to lay down his weapon with an anxious look on his face and a bit of earnestness in his voice.
Sarutobi stood in the crowd, his expression as cold as ice. The Ten Blades in his hand flashed with a cold light. A layer of black Armament Haki slowly spread across the blade, as if covering the blade with an indestructible armor. He stared coldly at Porta and said in a low but firm voice, "Put down the blade."
The revolutionary soldiers around him, holding their weapons tightly, slowly approached Porta with steady and powerful steps. Each step was filled with unquestionable majesty, forcing Porta into a desperate situation.
"Let me surrender? You're dreaming!" Porta suddenly let out a wild laugh. The laughter was sharp and piercing, as if it came from the devil in hell. His face was fierce, and his eyes were flashing with determination and madness.
Sarutobi's heart tightened. His years of combat experience made him instantly aware of the impending danger. Without hesitation, he exerted force on his feet and rushed towards Porta like an arrow from a bow.
"Acid rain!" Just as Sarutobi charged, Porta roared, and then, like a popped balloon, his body suddenly exploded. Countless turquoise water droplets splattered from his exploding body, scattering wildly in all directions.
These water droplets were deadly corrosive, sizzling the air wherever they passed. A soldier standing slightly closer was unable to dodge, and a droplet of water splashed onto his arm. Instantly, a puff of green smoke rose from his arm, and his skin corroded at a visible speed, revealing the bright red flesh beneath. He let out a shrill scream: "Ah!!!"
"Help!"
"Get out of the way! This guy has special abilities!"
The surrounding soldiers cried out in terror, and for a moment, the scene was in chaos. The soldiers closest to Porta had no time to dodge, and were splashed with several drops of acid rain. Their bodies began to twist in agony, their skin rapidly corroding, revealing the white bones. Their screams echoed throughout the battlefield, a chilling sight. They struggled for a moment, then slowly collapsed, their lives swiftly extinguished by this sudden disaster.
Sarutobi was halfway through his charge when the sudden acid rain attack forced him to stop. He looked at the horrific scene before him, his heart simmering with rage. His eyes grew colder and sharper as he stared intently at the lingering acid mist, bracing himself for Porta's next attack.
The soldiers were completely stunned by the horrifying scene before them, as if struck by a bolt from the blue. Their minds went blank. Their eyes widened, their mouths slightly open, but no sound emanated. They felt a chill running from their feet to their heads.
"Impossible, he has always been an ordinary person!" A soldier came to his senses first, his voice trembling with disbelief, as if someone had strangled his throat.
"Wait!" Another soldier's eyes lit up as if he had suddenly grasped a key clue. "He ate the devil fruit we were in charge of guarding!"
Everyone reacted immediately, their eyes widening as if they had just woken up from a dream. No wonder the devil fruit in the tightly locked box had disappeared. It turned out that Porta, the thief who stole it, had eaten it.
"You bastard, if the commander had this devil fruit, we wouldn't lose to these guys!" A soldier was so angry that his face turned red, veins bulged on his forehead, and he cursed at the surroundings at the top of his lungs, as if he wanted to vent all the anger in his heart.
"You have eaten up all our hopes!" The other soldiers echoed, their voices full of resentment and unwillingness, and their resentful eyes seemed to want to eat Porta alive.
Sarutobi seemed exceptionally calm, his right hand holding the sword steadily, the blade flashing with a cold light, his eyes like a hawk, staring intently at his surroundings, not missing any slight movement, trying to find any trace of Porta in this chaotic scene.
"Hope?" At that moment, a cold voice echoed from the ground. Suddenly, the turquoise water droplets that had been splattering everywhere began to wriggle strangely. As if alive, they quickly coalesced, gradually forming a massive acid rain monster. This monster was enormous, emitting a pungent, sour odor, and bubbles constantly rising from its surface, as if proclaiming its danger and terror.
The army soldiers looked at the acid rain monster that suddenly appeared, and the urge to curse was instantly suppressed by fear. They opened their mouths wide, but could only let out cries of "Ah...ah...", and their legs trembled uncontrollably, as if they had seen the most terrifying thing in the world.
"It's a waste to give such a powerful force to that coward!" Bolta's familiar, frantic voice rang out from the Acid Rain Monster, filled with endless mockery and pride. With that, the Acid Rain Monster pounced directly at the soldiers, its massive body whipping up a gust of wind that knocked the soldiers off their feet.
