Chapter 1528 Crow Dies
"Help..." A soldier was so scared that his face turned pale as paper, his legs went limp and he collapsed to the ground. He wanted to shout for help, but his voice was stuck in his throat due to fear and he could only let out a weak whimper.
Seeing this, the other soldiers immediately scattered and fled, their steps chaotic and frantic, as if pursued by demons from hell. But one soldier was still a fraction too slow, and was sucked into the acid rain monster that Porta had transformed into. Instantly, the soldier's body was corroded by the intense acid, and he let out a painful scream that grew fainter and fainter. Soon, he was reduced to a white skeleton, collapsing straight to the ground.
After absorbing this soldier, the acid rain monster seemed to grow a little bigger, and the acid on its surface flowed more violently, as if it was filled with infinite power.
"So that's how it is." The monster suddenly showed an expression of surprise. The expression looked particularly strange on its twisted face, as if it had discovered some huge secret.
Like a flash of black lightning, Sarutobi instantly rushed in front of the acid rain monster that Porta had transformed into. His eyes were sharp, and he exuded a chilling murderous aura. The knife in his hand flashed an icy light in the dim light.
"Sixth Form: Flower Blade!" Sarutobi shouted, his figure instantly vanishing into a shadow. His speed was so swift that the air around him seemed to be cleaved apart, emitting a sharp whistling sound. In the blink of an eye, Sarutobi was behind Porta, his movements smooth and fluid, without a single moment of hesitation.
Before anyone could react, Sarutobi swung his sword down with a fierce flash of light. The next second, Porta's massive body was neatly sliced in half, as if torn apart by an invisible giant hand.
"Ah!" Porta let out a shrill scream, a sound like a wail from hell, filled with pain and unwillingness. The two halves of his body collapsed helplessly, instantly transforming into two pools of pungent, sour water that slowly flowed across the ground, corroding tiny pits.
Sarutobi turned and looked at the acid on the ground, his brows furrowed tightly, a hint of caution and doubt in his eyes. He had a feeling that things were not that simple. Porta's abilities were too strange to be eliminated so easily.
"Battalion Commander!" At this time, the entrance to the basement was filled with soldiers of the Revolutionary Army. They held weapons in their hands and looked at Sarutobi nervously.
Sarutobi put away his knife, took a deep breath, and said in a deep voice, "Save our people immediately. Also, send these guys to the cell and lock them up under strict supervision."
"Sir." A surviving army soldier was about to say something, trying to justify or plead for Porta's behavior.
Sarutobi swept over with a cold look, which was like a sharp blade, and immediately made the army soldiers shut their mouths. They lowered their heads obediently, not daring to make any more sounds.
Soon, the army prisoners were escorted away by the Revolutionary Army soldiers, and a brief moment of peace returned to the basement. Sarutobi gazed at the large pit in the ground, carved by the acid, and pondered for a moment, the feeling of unease growing stronger.
He then pulled out his Den Den Mushi and reported the situation to his superiors. On the other end of the line, the Sixth Army commander, upon hearing the news, simply instructed Sarutobi to strengthen defenses, but otherwise paid little attention. After all, in the past two months of war, the number of esper users who had died had already exceeded double digits, even members of the Revolutionary Army and the Army's high command had fallen. In the commander's view, a newly emerged esper user seemed powerless to influence the course of this brutal battle.
After hanging up the Den Den Mushi, Sarutobi left the basement and ordered it to be sealed off completely to prevent any further accidents. He didn't know why, but he always felt like a pair of invisible eyes were watching him from the shadows. That feeling of unease was like a shadow, always looming over his heart.
Another day passed, and the acidic water remaining in the basement pit suddenly began to stir. An eye slowly emerged from the acid, flickering with an eerie light. It shifted, as if observing its surroundings. Then, the remaining acidic water in the corners and on the ground began to wriggle strangely, as if alive, and quickly coalesced.
Soon, a twenty-centimeter-tall acid rain figure took shape. Despite its small size, it exuded a dangerous aura, with the acid on its surface constantly bubbling and making a sizzling sound.
"I'll remember this grudge," the Acid Rain Man uttered a sharp voice, filled with resentment and anger. Then, it snuck up to the basement door and, using its highly corrosive body, slowly chipped away at it.
It carefully observed the situation outside through the gap. After confirming that there was no one, it immediately fled like a green lightning and disappeared into the darkness, leaving only the basement door with a corroded gap, which looked particularly weird in the dim light.
The crisis that Sarutobi was worried about turned into a poisonous snake lurking in the darkness, which might pose a threat at any time.
Another half month passed, and the dark cloud of war still weighed heavily on this land filled with smoke and blood like a thick block of lead.
On this day, a piece of news exploded in Kuro's camp like a bombshell, making Kuro so surprised that he almost jumped up.
"Captain, Captain!"
“Latest news!!!”
"Captain Crow of the Northern Revolutionary Army and Captain Lindbergh of the Confederate Army were killed!" The subordinates ran over hurriedly and handed the information in their hands to Craw, with shock in their voices that was difficult to conceal.
Kuro took the information, his fingers trembling slightly, and the expression on his face instantly became solemn, as if covered by a layer of frost.
He remembered the crow who was silly but stubborn. He could still vividly remember the guy who had followed Dorag to find him.
"That idiot died so soon?" Kuro muttered to himself, a complex expression flashing in his eyes. "I still owe that guy a little friendship."
His expression was changeable, sometimes he frowned, sometimes he clenched his teeth, as if he was making some difficult decision in his mind.
