Chapter 1529 Funeral
After a moment's silence, Kuro suddenly pressed the Den Den Mushi key. His eager action seemed to want to convey all the anger and worry in his heart through this small communication tool.
"Captain!" Morgan's voice came from the other end of the phone.
"Morgans, find out how the crow died." Kuro's voice was low and cold, as if squeezed out from between his teeth.
"Captain, the latest intelligence has arrived," Morgans said.
"Speak!" Kuro almost shouted, his voice full of unquestionable majesty.
"Lindberg was ambushed by the Knights of God. Crow went to rescue him, but the Field Marshal showed up with Army General Rucci and took care of both of them together." Morgans reported in detail.
"Army General? How come I've never heard of this position in the Army?" Kuro raised his eyebrows, a hint of doubt in his eyes.
"Because that guy killed too many revolutionary soldiers, the Field Marshal appointed him." Morgans explained.
"Army General...very good." A murderous intent flashed in Kuro's eyes, like an enraged beast, ready to pounce on the enemy at any time.
"With the death of two major army commanders of the Revolutionary Army, it seems that the Revolutionary Army will be defeated soon." Kuro said coldly, with a hint of sarcasm in his tone.
"Not necessarily." Morgans' tone suddenly became strange, as if he was hiding some unspeakable secret.
"What do you mean?" Kuro's heart tightened and he asked quickly.
"Three Knights of God were killed by Dragon, and the Field Marshal was seriously injured." Morgans said slowly, and every word was like a hammer, hitting Kuro's heart.
"What?!" Kuro's face showed a surprised expression, and his voice was full of disbelief. He opened his eyes wide, as if he had just seen the most incredible thing in the world. "What on earth happened today? How could the war situation have changed so drastically?!"
Kuro stood there, unable to calm down for a long time. Various possible scenarios kept appearing in his mind: the Revolutionary Army's counterattack, the Knights of God's disastrous defeat, the Field Marshal's serious injury... All of these were like a tangled thread, entangled in his heart, making him feel extremely confused and anxious.
He knew that this war had far exceeded his expectations. The situation that had seemed clear at first had become confusing.
"Morgans, keep a close eye on the battle situation and report to me immediately if there is any new information." Kuro said in a deep voice, his tone full of firmness and determination.
After hanging up the Den Den Mushi, Kuro walked to the window, looked out at the smoke-filled sky, and thought to himself, "It seems like I can start moving now."
..........................................
At that moment, the atmosphere inside the Revolutionary Army headquarters was as oppressive as the sky before a storm, so heavy it was suffocating. A group of Revolutionary Army cadres gathered around the two coffins placed in the center, tears flowing freely like a flood, their cries echoing throughout the tent.
"Crow, go ahead without worry, we will win this war!" A cadre shouted at the top of his lungs, his voice filled with grief and determination, as if he wanted to turn his promise to his comrades into endless strength.
"Lindberg, Mr. Long has avenged you, you can sleep peacefully!" Another cadre said with sobs, his hands tightly gripping the edge of the coffin, his knuckles turning white from the force.
The revolutionary army officers wept uncontrollably, their faces thick with grief and reluctance. They had fought alongside Crow and Lindbergh for years, sharing countless life-or-death experiences. Their deep camaraderie had been etched into their very bones. Now, with their two comrades' sudden passing, how could they not be devastated?
Dorag sat quietly in a chair at the back. His once lustrous black hair had turned white at the temples, as if he had aged dramatically overnight. Deep wrinkles now appeared on his face, the cruel marks left by time and war. His eyes were deep and solemn as he gazed silently at the coffin before him. He remained silent, but his slightly trembling hands betrayed the depth of his grief.
"Okay, time's up." Lightning broke the suffocating silence. Her voice was a little hoarse, with a hint of fatigue that was hard to conceal.
Hearing what Lightning said, the crying became louder, as if no one was willing to accept this cruel reality and wanted to use their last cry to keep their comrades.
Lightning sighed, a sigh filled with helplessness and sadness. She exchanged glances with several deputy captains, each seeing the same determination in the other's eyes.
Then, they stepped forward at the same time and slowly closed the coffins of the two men. The sound of the coffins being closed was like a heavy hammer, hitting everyone's heart.
"Arise!" Lightning shouted loudly. Although his voice was a little trembling, it was full of power.
A dozen sturdy warriors walked forward with heavy steps. They lifted the coffin steadily with both hands, and their solid muscles bulged high with the force.
The coffin in their hands seemed to carry the hopes and beliefs of the entire revolutionary army.
They walked slowly outside, each step so firm and powerful.
The cadres followed behind, their steps a little messy, but their eyes were extremely determined.
They looked at the two coffins in front of them, which carried the souls of their comrades, and secretly vowed in their hearts: they must win this war and make their comrades' sacrifices meaningful.
Walking out of the tent, the sky outside was gloomy, as if it was also mourning the departure of these two heroes.
A fierce wind howled past, stirring up dust and ruffling the cadres' hair. But they didn't flinch at all, still following closely behind the coffin.
The funeral procession moved forward slowly. Along the way, the surrounding revolutionary soldiers stood up spontaneously. They took off their hats, bowed their heads in silence, and tears flashed in their eyes.
They knew that these two comrades had sacrificed their lives for the revolutionary cause. They were the pride of the revolutionary army and role models for everyone.
