Chapter 1548: Difficult to do
News of the breach of the army's headquarters reached Kuro like a gust of wind. Kuro was sitting in the cabin of his opulently decorated, pirate-inspired flagship, surrounded by a variety of rare treasures gathered from all over the world. Upon hearing the news, he sat up straight, his body lazily leaning back in his seat. A gloom crossed his face, like the dark clouds before a storm, filling the entire cabin with a sense of oppression.
"The Army's defeated..." Kuro muttered to himself, a hint of unconcealed frustration in his voice. He had originally planned to take advantage of the fierce fighting between the Army and the Revolutionary Army to fish in troubled waters and cause trouble for the Army, perhaps even reap a lot of benefits and expand his territory and influence. But now that the Army was defeated so quickly, his plans seemed to be severely disrupted by an invisible hand.
"Damn it! How can I possibly bother them?" Kuro slammed the table. The hard surface made a dull thud under his palm, and the teacups on the table jumped. His eyes gleamed with anger and resentment, like an enraged beast.
Kuro paced back and forth in the cabin, his mind racing, pondering his next move. Suddenly, he stopped, as if struck by a thought. He quickly walked to the wall and picked up the Den Den Mushi hanging there. The Den Den Mushi's round eyes blinked, as if observing Kuro with curiosity.
Kuro said to the Den Den Mushi: "Hello, is this Morgans? Find a way to find Baot and find out for me whether the Army Marshal is dead or alive?" His voice was low and powerful, with an unquestionable command tone.
Morgans's slightly flattering voice came from the other end of the Den Den Mushi: "Okay, Captain, I'll find a way to find him right away. Don't worry, with my connections and information channels, I will definitely be able to give you an accurate answer as soon as possible."
"You'd better hurry up, I don't have that much patience to wait." Kuro frowned and said impatiently.
"I understand, Captain. Just wait for my good news." Morgans responded quickly.
After hanging up the Den Den Mushi, Kuro sat back down in his chair, rubbing his chin, lost in thought. Ever since joining the army, Baot had vanished into thin air. Aside from the occasional message, he couldn't be contacted. Kuro felt a surge of worry. He didn't know what had happened to Baot in the army, nor did he know if he could still successfully complete his mission.
"Don't let me down, kid," Kuro muttered, a hint of worry in his eyes. He knew the Field Marshal's life or death was crucial to his future plans. If the Field Marshal lived, the Army might make a comeback, making it much more difficult for him to profit from it. If the Field Marshal died, the Army would inevitably fall into chaos, which might be an opportunity for him to exploit.
At this moment, the cabin door was pushed open, and Tisza strode in. Seeing Kuro's serious expression, he couldn't help but ask, "Captain, what's wrong? Is there something wrong with the army?"
Kuro raised his head, glanced at Tisha, and said, "The army base has been breached. Now we don't know whether the field marshal is dead or alive. I've asked Morgans to find Baot to find out."
Upon hearing this, Tisza's eyes lit up and he said, "Captain, this is a good opportunity. If the Field Marshal is dead, we might be able to seize some of their territory."
Kuro nodded and said, "I think so too. However, we can't act rashly until the situation is clear. Have your men prepare first, and as soon as we get any news, we'll act immediately."
"Yes, Captain!" Tisha responded and turned to walk out of the cabin.
Kuro fell into deep thought again, imagining various possible scenarios. If the Field Marshal was still alive, he might reorganize the army and continue to fight against the Revolutionary Army, which would make the situation in this sea area even more complicated. But if the Field Marshal was dead, the army might fight among themselves for power, and Kuro would be able to reap the benefits.
"No matter what, I must prepare for the worst." Kuro muttered to himself, his eyes revealing determination and resolve. He knew that in this new world full of opportunities and dangers, only by staying vigilant at all times could he remain invincible in this fierce competition.
As time went on, the atmosphere in the cabin became more and more depressing, and Kuro quietly waited for news from Morgans.
