Chapter 525 Dream: Another Arthur
As Arthur turned and left the dock, heading into the mountains, the female soldiers realized they were in serious trouble, a situation that could cost them their lives.
"He just said... to kill all the Celestial Dragons?"
"All...all?"
"Damn it, I thought it was just a survey mission..."
Arthur clenched his fists, dressed lightly and with a flourish, and returned from the dock to Leia's doorstep.
"Little servant, are you done with the offerings? Come back up the mountain with me to get the things."
"The memorial service is over."
A moment later, Leia came out of the house and saw Arthur standing at the door with his arms crossed, waiting for her with his eyes closed.
"Hmm..." Arthur glanced at her, a sharp glint in his eyes, as she came out.
"Have I told you that I've been having a strange dream lately?"
"No, Lord Arthur." Leia tapped her chin slightly with her right index finger. She thought for a moment, and realized that apart from their daily lives, Arthur had never talked to her about dreams or anything like that.
Arthur walked towards the forest leading to the cliffside plain and began to speak slowly.
"I remember saying that the dream started to haunt me again, and every time I go to sleep I am in a huge, dark space."
There are two people in this space, one is me, and the other is another me.
His tone was straightforward and direct, offering a simple explanation as he strolled along the dirt path leading to the mountain plain.
"Another Lord Arthur?" Leia's lips parted slightly, somewhat puzzled, not quite understanding his words.
"A version of myself that even frightens me..." Arthur stared intently at the road ahead, his face serious, and continued.
"His face was paralyzed and he kept staring at me. In that dream, we just looked at each other until I woke up and he disappeared."
"Do you only have dreams like this occasionally?" Leia thought for a moment and asked curiously, not taking Arthur's words seriously.
Arthur glanced back at the woman behind him, smiled slightly, and continued walking. "Since the day I returned here, I've had the same dream every day. The only difference is that another version of me wanders in that darkness. I can only look at him and observe him."
Gradually, I seem to slowly realize…
Arthur's words came to an abrupt end.
Leia listened intently to his description of the 'dream' behind him. Seeing that Arthur remained silent, she asked expectantly, "Realized what?"
“I realized that I seemed to have spent too long in a calm, peaceful life, and my mind had become extremely fragmented.” Arthur tapped his forehead with his right palm, finding it hard to believe even to himself.
Leia looked at Arthur with a disdainful expression, her eyes like those of a dead fish. "What kind of strange story is this? If you, Lord Arthur, can have a split personality, then who is normal?"
She didn't believe it at all; it was utter nonsense.
However, only Arthur knew the truth about this.
He was silent for a moment, then warned, "Let me tell you something else. Listen carefully. If you ever see me with that cold, expressionless face, stay far away from me."
"Why should I hide from Lord Arthur? You won't hurt me." Leia looked puzzled again.
"I don't know. When you see it, it might be another me. You know what multiple personality disorder and schizophrenia are, right? It's what they write in newspapers and magazines. Some people are born with multiple personality disorder, or they experience too much tragedy later in life, which causes their minds to split and they become another person."
Leia suddenly felt strange as Arthur launched into such a long explanation of the matter.
He hasn't been angry at all these past few months; his peaceful daily life has been filled with smiles.
what is it today?
Could it be related to the information brought by the navy?
Cooper stood quietly on Arthur's shoulder, listening to their conversation, and heard this part of the story.
It opened its eyes, stretched its eagle neck in front of Arthur's face, and called out, "Cooper?" (Should I hide too?)
As they chatted, the two arrived at their destination without realizing it.
In response to Cooper's words, Arthur patted its head and said, "Little furry boy, you might be... the antidote."
Upon hearing this, Cooper tilted his head, somewhat puzzled.
The antidote? It looked up and thought for a moment, then suddenly gripped Arthur's shoulders tightly with its paws, barking angrily.
"Cooper!" (You bastard! You were planning to eat me!)
It tightened its claws more and more, and inadvertently discovered that Arthur was not begging for mercy in pain as usual.
Instead, he pushed open the wooden cabin door, walked to the wall opposite the living room door, and stared expressionlessly at his sword.
“Since I’m back in the game.” Arthur took off the Frost Sword and gently stroked the scabbard in his hand. “They’re fighting to the death over there. Letting go… Heh, it was only when I went out to sea to find her that I realized I couldn’t let go at all.”
I am a stranger in a foreign land, I do not belong here… but in my despair, she gave me life and a cure.”
Leia clasped her hands in front of her stomach, staring at Arthur's back with a strange expression, listening to him mutter to himself.
"Enough, enough." After taking the knife in his hand, Arthur turned around and immediately prepared to leave the island. "Let's go, Ao Shuang, let's end all of this."
As Arthur passed Leia, he stopped, looking at her, who was completely different from her previous life.
“If I don’t come back, you’ll take Hank’s place and develop the department store group,” he said to Leia. “Consider it a gift from me. If he’s unwilling, just kill him.”
"Lord Arthur..." Leia's face was covered in cold sweat, and she smiled awkwardly, "Why are you suddenly saying such heavy things?"
"It's nothing." Arthur left, waving goodbye with his back turned. "The vegetables in the dish should be cooked by now. Remember to harvest them well."
If demonization were controllable, Arthur would have mastered that power long ago.
In her previous life, when she was demonized, Ao Shuang bore the brunt of everything.
Now that Aoshuang has disappeared, who will be the one to become a demon?
Was it himself, living in darkness in his previous life, or the princess of the Arctic Empire?
This is exactly what Arthur is worried about. If it were his past self... he wouldn't have the ability to restrain, suppress, and control himself.
To give an example, if he is good now, then he is absolutely evil in another sense, devoid of humanity and conscience.
"Cooper?" (Is he going on another adventure?)
"Hmm, are you scared?"
“Cooper…” (To be honest, Arthur, I was really scared that time…)
"You mean, the time the Wings of Victory burned down?"
Cooper nodded; all three of them had almost died that time.
Arthur chuckled and replied, "This time it's a hundred times more dangerous than the last. We're not facing humans."
"Cooper..." (Well...we should be careful...) Cooper was already sweating profusely just from hearing that it was a hundred times more dangerous.
“I will protect you, and if I can’t…” Arthur paused again, “if I can’t, he will definitely protect you.”
"Cooper?" (Who is he?)
“He’s me, a thousand times stronger than me, no… ten thousand times stronger than me! No! Anyway, he will definitely not let you die again.”
Upon hearing this, Cooper suddenly lost his fear and angrily slapped Arthur's head with his wings.
"Cooper!" (When did I ever die! You bastard!)
"Then you'd better run as fast as you can if you encounter danger, otherwise I'll be crying my eyes out."
"Cooper!" (I don't believe it!)
Within Arthur's mental space, in an endless expanse of darkness.
Dressed in a black robe, covered in sores, and with extremely pale skin, Arthur coldly observed everything through the sight and hearing of the outside world.
He sat on the ground, his right hand resting on his right knee, his teeth grinding against each other constantly, his whole body trembling, his eyes filled with overwhelming killing intent and terrifying ferocity.
"Noisy," he said with a cold sneer.
……
Leia watched the retreating figures of the two who had won, wanting to say something more, but seeing Arthur chatting happily with Cooper despite their incomprehensible language, she realized that there was no need to say anything more.
Not long after Arthur left, she walked alone to the edge of the cliffside plain overlooking the entire island and sat down.
“A dream…?” She looked down at the dock below, where Arthur had casually steered a small boat capable of sailing the waves away from the island. “Even if it’s a dream… it’s beautiful to me.”
