Marriage Plans Will Commence Soon

Amelia POV

“I'm so sorry I had to bring you here,” Granny apologized for the second time. I only smiled with my head lowered, I wonder why she kept apologizing. Apparently, this place is far better than my parent's house, except for the fact that it look stuffy, though. We were standing at the facade of the ranch house, while the head maid; like I heard from granny, was cleaning the house. I had wanted to help with, but granny had rejected.

Shortly, we were all sitting in the living room; I was sitting next to granny, while Mr. Samuel and the maid sat beside each other. The maid has done a great work, the living room was now looking so clean and smells nice. Everything in the there were simple but unique, the curtains and cushions were matching, plus, a flat TV screen was hung to the wall across the room alongside a pair of home theater system. Enthralling!

“Do you like this place, Amelia?” Granny's voice drove me back to reality. “Yes granny, it looks beautiful”

She smiled and faced Mr. Samuel. “Where do you intend to work now? Have you told your family about your resignation?” Mr. Samuel inhaled a sigh and let it out. “The only family I had has left me for some years now,” He said, looking forlorn.

According to him, his wife had left him several years ago. She had said she couldn't afford to spend the rest of her life with a wretched man like Mr. Samuel. Pathetic, isn't it? I felt for him as well.

Mr. Samuel is a good man, he doesn't deserve such horrible remarks in whichever way. “Oh, I'm so sorry about that” Granny apologized pathetically, and he just forced a little smile before nodding his head.

“Okay, like I said earlier, I shouldn't have brought you guys to this place, and I'm sorry about it once again” Granny began, staring at my face. “Amelia, this will be your new house for the time being, you and Mr. Samuel” My eyes popped as joy leapt in my heart. “Really, granny?” I enthused, nearly jumping on my feet.

“Of course, dear, you deserve more. But not to worry, once you get married to my grandson soon, then you're coming to a bigger house,” She said levelly, a broad smile running across her face. But I couldn't smile as I have already felt a heavy thud in my heart. Was she serious about it? “Granny.”

“You're not too young for marriage, Amelia” She interrupted me, moving closer. I managed to chuckle out softly. “That's not it granny, I still wish to go back to school” I told her, fiddling with my fingers.

“That's not a problem dear, you can always go to school after you're married” She coaxed, staring at my face, her eyes were pleading so badly. I breathe out heavily.

Was I really ready for marriage?

And to someone I haven't met before?

It was just like granny was reading my thoughts.

“Don't worry, dear, I want you to add some weight before meeting my grandson. I'll be sending one or two maids over here tomorrow, so they can take care of everything,” She held my hands, tenderly.

“I really like you, Amelia, I've always liked you since the day I first saw you. And very soon, you'll understand why I wanted you for my grandson” She offered a loving smile, but I couldn't return it. Was she being serious?

I better say something else.

“Granny, please don't get my mom arrested,” I plea, after I got my voice back. “Just let her go, I beg you,” She stared at my face for some moment before nodding slowly. “You really have a heart of gold, dear” She brushed my hair with her hand, smiling adoringly at me. I smiled back. I wish this woman could turn to my real mom.

Alexander POV

I sat down with a slump on the settee in the living room. I just got back from the office not quite long ago. A lot were running through my head, but after I taken a long bath in the bathtub, I felt a bit better. I picked the TV remote control and began to change the channels.” Lunch is served, sir,” A maid announced, and I instantly kept the remote before rising to my feet. I'm famished.

“Where's granny?” I asked the maid who was opening the dishes, while sitting down.

“Here I am” I turned to her joyous face at the door and I smiled. A maid walked past her and bowed to me before walking towards the kitchen, I guess. “So since you got back from work, you just realized I wasn't home, isn't it?” She rolled her eyes playfully as she sat beside me.

“I'm sorry granny, I had a lot in my head and that was why I left the office very early, plus, you asked me return earlier than usual” I explained before carrying the glass cup of water and drank from it.

“I hope you're feeling much better now, thank goodness tomorrow is weekend,” I chuckled lightly upon hearing that. “Anyway, hope she's good?” I picked my fork and shredded the steak in my plate. “Yeah, she's better now. I already took her away from her home,” I looked up from my plate in a swift and blinked my eyes at Granny. “It's really a long story, Alex, and I don't have the energy to talk about it right now. I'm pretty exhausted,” She said, giving me a tired look. I nodded and continued with my food.

“And your marriage plans will commence soon” She suddenly announced, and I almost choked on the lettuce I was biting on. “What, granny?” I murmured and she gave me a knowing smile.

I sat up on my seat, feeling hot inside. “Who am I getting married to?” I asked her under my breath. I stared at her face, hoping she wouldn't say Olive again. “Amelia, she's so beautiful, Alex” She replied, ecstatically.

Amelia?

Okay, don't tell me she's planning to give me away to some kind of random girl.
