Thirty-seven - Innocent Chloe

"He is in the library."

"I need to drink some water."

"Chloe," Gabriel reached for her before she could escape to the kitchen. "Don't make excuses."

"But my throat is dry. See," she made smacking noises and turned her head a bit his way. "Very dry. I need tons of water."

"Why are you acting like you are about to bomb a place?"

"Bombers drink water before bombing a place?" her brows knitted as she asked.

"Chloe," Gabriel groaned.

"I have never done this before Gabriel, I can't help but feel nervous." During the ride back home, Chloe reasoned everything out. With the way the Agency were acting, she might be under contract with them till she drops dead.

So, since she always wanted to cross being in a relationship off her bucket list, she decided to take Gabriel's advice and take the risk of being with Nathaniel.

Her presence in the house was a risk anyway. Extra risk wouldn't hurt.

And whatever the nearest future would bring, it will be known then.

Chloe felt a kind of relief after reasoning all that out.

"Just go Chloe," he whispered into her ear.

"Okay, okay. Let me just get that glass of water first."

"Seriously? Chloe left his grasp and walked towards the kitchen.

As she caught her image on the refrigerator's door, she adjusted her hair, laying it on her back smoothly. Then she took off her coat and admired how good she looked with the small black lace top to which she wore blue fitted jeans.

If she was going to ask him out, she had to look good.

Chloe chuckled as she opened the refrigerator. She definitely was going to fail at trying to ask him out. She could tell already. But she was going to do it anyway.

No matter how many times an idea has been dismissed, if it becomes confirmed, she always carries it out to the end.

After downing a whole bottle of water, her eyes caught a box of milk and she took some of that too.

As she turned to face the way that led to the library, she recalled something and went to get the milk box. She got it for Nathaniel to help him induce his sleep when he decides to retire for the night.

Feeling giddy inside amongst other emotion, she made her way to the library. When she got to the entrance, she took a deep breath. She was really about to do it.

One could tell how nervous she was from the way her heart pounded.

Soon, she entered and there he was, seated in front of his laptop and some paperwork, looking all serious. She was about to turn back, but for some reason she could see Gabriel's face reprimanding her.

So, she moved closer.

Nathaniel still hadn't noticed her, so she knocked on the wood surface of the nearest shelf.

"Chloe," he said, not smiling, a very serious face on.

"Uh..."

His eyes raked her slowly. "Are you going somewhere?"

"No. I mean, I did. But now I am back."

"You look good." His lips tugged as he sat back and watched her bite into her lip. Then, his eyes went to her hand. "What do you have there?"

She was beginning to feel less tensioned, so she walked towards him, saying, "I brought you some milk to- Whoa!" She had tripped over something and the fall drove her towards him so she landed on his lap, her belly on his groin, the milk in her hand falling to the other side.

"Oh, oh, I..." She struggled to get off his lap but a strong hand kept her down.

"I like this better than milk," came his husky voice.

"Uh..." she turned her head his way and their eyes met.

"I love this sight better," he repeated, this time his hand running through her back.

Sighing, she gave in and stayed in that embarrassing position.

"Chloe?"

Her head came up again, "Yeah?"

He replied by letting her get up. But not for long. His hand grabbed hers and he had her straddling him in no time.

His eyes going to the swell on her chest, he said, "This sight, I like best."

"I, uh-"

"I get to see your beautiful eyes." A finger went to her left eye and it grazed through the skin below. "I get to kiss your nose." It was as though she was bewitched, she did not move an inch as his lips planted a kiss on the bridge of her nose.

Then his eyes moved lower. "And these lips of yours..." As his thumb drew an outline, her eyes closed. "I can't stop thinking about them. I can't stop seeing them in my head," he breathed onto her lips.

Letting out a low gasp as he planted his lips on the side of her mouh, Chloe found herself wanting more. As her eyes opened and landed on Nathaniel's she remembered she had come for something different.

"Um, Nathaniel?"

"Yeah?" His roaming hands had found her bare skin.

"I-" She let out a low gasp as his mouth went to her shoulder blade.

"I am listening Chloe."

She frowned. She was experincing something she had never felt before, how on earth was she supposed to focus? Well, she would try anyway. "I wanted to tell you that-"

He licked through the length of her neck and growled hungrily. "Hmm, tasty."

"Nathaniel..."

"Yeah?" he finally found her eyes.

"I am trying to talk here."

"Do you think anyone of us would be able to talk with the way things are going?" he asked mischeviously.

"Uh..."

"Do you know how long I have waited for you to come to me like this?"

"You have?"

He sniffed the air around her, "You have no idea." Chloe felt a strange feeling in her vagina and shifted a bit in a way that had her grinding into him. "Don't do that Chloe."

"Do what?"

"Look at you, playing innocent. I like."

"But- "

"What is it that you wanted to tell me?"

"I uh... " she shifted back a bit, he groaned, she frowned. "Are you fine?"

"Yes. Go on."

"I just wanted to tell you that I uh-" she played with her hands as she rested in his hold on her back. "That I uh- I like you."

The one smile he never really showed came on, even Chloe found herself smiling. "You do?"

She nodded. "I want you the way you want me."

"Really?"

"But..." She placed her hands on his chest. "You have to promise me one thing."

"What's that?"

"You have to promise me that I will not regret this. See, this will be my first time with a guy. I-"

"Wait what? You have never dated before?" She shook her head in negative. "I find that hard to believe."

She shrugged. "It is the truth."

"Wait, does that mean you are a vir-?" Her eyes met his and they gave him the answer. "Oh my. I-"

"You can't go in. He is busy," Gabriel's voice came from outside and Chloe jumped off Nathaniel's lap. Nathaniel still looked like he was lost for words.

Soon, Gabriel came running after a woman who was almost as tall as Nathaniel. Dressed to kill with her camouflage pants and white top completed with a pair of Jordans, she walked further in and Nathaniel got up immediately.

"Kate?" Chloe could not help the frown on her face.

"In the flesh." Her nude lips wore a smile and soon, she ran into Nathaniel's arms and said, "I have missed you so much Nate. And I know you do too."
