33. Elena resigned.
Sofia.
It was a delightful day and was characterized by the occasional peeking of the sun. A cool breeze rustled in the atmosphere from the west giving a cooling effect to the wedding’s invitees as each took a seat on the gazebo walk’s on either side.
Cool classical music played in the background and I could not believe that I was finally getting married to the love of my life, Deangelo. What a memorable day it would turn out to be! Streamers and balloons fluttered in enclosed railings with the vibrant red, green, and blue colors radiating throughout the premises. Rows of luxurious cars stood parked on the far side of the venue’s left and the overhead sun made them glitter.
I headed towards where the groom and the entire audience were waiting. I clutched tightly to my mom’s hand as we slowly walked down the path leading to the gazebo. The background music started to fade slowly and was replaced by bridal choruses as heads abruptly turned towards the aisle’s far end where I was making my entrance.
At the far end stood Deangelo, the best man, Luca and the priest who was to solemnize the wedding ceremony. As I slowly walked towards him, I could not help but grin widely at my soon to be husband. He had never looked so handsome in a black suit and I was simply blown away. I wore a white wedding gown that was strapless and my bodice was covered with embroidery. The gown was also sewn with pearl beads and rhinestones. In addition, I wore a golden veil with a matching headpiece. In my hand was the silk bouquet of French roses.
As we reached the last step of the walk, Deangelo gave me a stunning and reassuring smile and whispered to me about how beautiful I looked. I blushed and complemented him likewise.
After the priest conducted the opening prayer, he proceeded to the next step of leading us through our vows. Little Diego who was holding the rings came over and handed them to Deangelo. As he placed the ring on my finger and uttered the magic words ‘I do’, I was still unable to comprehend how I had finally achieved my dreams of getting married to the one man who has always been the one in my fantasies and dreams.
I took the other ring and put it on his finger as my love for him and also said ‘I do’. After exchanging the vows, the priest then declared us as husband and wife.
When a hymn was being sang, Deangelo held my hand once again and whispered to me “You have made this day so special for me and I can’t wait to see how our life together will be like. I love you!” I kept smiling so wide that my mouth started to hurt, who could have thought that the alpha of Ferrari pack who is known to be cold and brutal would ever be so cheesy and utmostly in love with me in this manner.
The bishop presented us our marriage certificate and prepared us to walk down the aisle. My chin went up and I felt so proud holding Deangelo. As we walked down the gazebo hand in hand, the bridesmaids and groomsmen followed suit and music took over once again. Everyone’s eyes were fixed on us and we received such admiration that I was absolutely carried away. There were many hugs and kisses as everyone congratulated my groom and me while wishing us all the best for our married life and we proceeded to the reception party.
It was so much fun and frolic there, including the cake cutting ceremony. We had a beautiful 5 tier cake with the same color scheme and I received a beautiful surprise by Deangelo’s father. He presented me a beautiful pair of diamond ear rings at the cake cutting ceremony and gave me a huge hug.
Soon, it was time for the couple’s dance and Deangelo held my hand and took me slowly and gently to the dancing floor. He went down on his knees and in front of everyone asked me “May I have the pleasure of dancing with my wife?”
I was so taken up by his loving gesture that I blushed even more than before, and I wanted to give him a very deep kiss only to have his mouth moving and shouting my name unrealistically.
“SOFIA! SOFIA!” He kept saying as my eye flustered open but instead of the reception party, I found myself on one of the chairs in the lounge, instead of my wedding dress, I was in the green gown that I had chosen to wear this morning, hoping to get the alpha’s attention, and instead of Deangelo being the one before me, it was Camila, giving me a suspicious look.
“Ugh! What is it, Camila? Why on earth did you wake me up for pete’s sake? I am sure the kids are not even back yet, ugh! What is it?” I snapped, annoyed both at the fact that all that happened was just a dream and also at the fact that it was interrupted at the very minute that I was about to kiss the man of my dreams.
“Why are you yelling at me? Uh? And what kind of dream were you having that had you pucking your lips out like that? Were you having a wet dream or something?” She asked questions over questions with an annoying smirk on her face.
“Oh! Shut it already and mind your business. Just tell me what I was woken up for?” I snapped, glaring at her.
“Whatever, the Alpha has just asked that you go pick Diego.” She finally said.
I stared at her in confusion at the same time that her face went solemn, “Why would I do that? Is that not a job for the nanny?”
“Well, just so you know, Elena resigned this morning, just after she dropped the kids off at school. She did not even bid anyone goodbye, she left as silently as she could, I don’t even understand what happened and the alpha is not telling anyone anything either.” Camila said sadly while I could not help the wide smile that spread on my face on hearing the news.
To her, it was sad. To me, this was such a wonderful news that even warrants me celebrating, Elena had literally just saved me the stress of having to go to extreme lengths to get rid of her.
A total good news.
“Is that why you are acting like someone died? Oh please, Elena is just like the past nannies who come and go, although she holds the record for the fastest one to leave, I guess she can not take the pressure from the kids after all, good for her.” I said with a grin.
“What? Look at you grinning about such a thing like you have just worn a lottery. What the heck are you grinning for?” Camila questioned, looking at me like I was acting like a devil.
“Whatever, I would not waste more time speaking to you here when I should go pick up Diego, I am so sure that he would be so excited to find out that I came to pick him up instead of Elena.”
I did not wait for any response from her before I walked out of the house and soon enough, I was in Diego’s school. I held my arms out as soon as he spotted me but then what I got from him was not what I had expected, he just did not even seem thrilled at all to see me.
“Why are you here?” He asked in a small voice as soon as he reached me while I reluctantly put my arms by my side on realizing that he was so not going to give me a hug for any reason.
“To pick you up, of course?” I replied, already irritated by his little attitude.
“Why? Where is Ms. Elena?” He asked, looking somewhat scared to hear the reply I was going to give. “She resigned today, Diego. But don’t you worry, I am sure you will get another better nanny soon enough.”
His face fell, “That is not true. When she dropped me at school this morning, she had promised to come pick me this afternoon so we could go play games together, she had also promised one day, never to go nor leave me. She did not leave, Ms. Sofia.” He said to me as his eyes started to well with water.
It did not even move me, one bit. He was just being a kid and he was sure to get over in a day, but then, it was quite worrisome because I had never seen him cry over the other nannies when they had left, in fact, he seemed elated when they did.
I bent to his height as I looked into his face, trying as much as I could to look like i cared about his little feelings, “Diego, I know you are hurt but Ms. Elena is not coming back and she actually did leave you. I am sorry but that is just the way it is.”
Without saying any more words, he got into the car with tears and I followed suite while the driver drove off back to the estate, as soon as the car stopped, he was off the car and into the house in his little strides.
Soon, I started to hear little tantrums coming from the alpha’s study and then him crying as he stormed up the stairs into his room.
And then it was at that moment that I made up my mind that as soon as I got married to Deangelo, the kids were going to be thrown in some boarding schools.
