Chapter 22: Does He Get His Way?
Just as the bus brings home the girls, they run in the house and yell excitedly, “Mom, you are so awesome! Everyone at school says that you had sex with Julian last night. Did you?” Lilly jumps up and down.
Jaime looks at Lilly and says snidely, “Lilly, of course she did. Who wouldn’t, he’s hot! Aunt Samantha, look at what Julian gave us both.” as Jaime holds up their shirts so Samantha can inspect them and smile cheerfully.
“Mom, did Julian give you all these flowers?” Lilly asks.
“Yes, he did.” She states. “Matter of fact, he’s going to call later on.”
Just then her phone rings so she quickly answers the phone, “Hi, there. We were just talking about you.” as she smiles at each of them.
“Oh really, what did you say about me?” Julian asks jokingly while he holds his breath and waits for an answer.
“We were talking about the exquisite roses you sent. Oh, and my daughter thinks you’re hot.” She says an afterthought as she laughs.
“I’ve heard that there is already a video running around on the net. Sorry about that. The only thing I hate about being famous is there is absolutely no privacy.” He sounds a little upset. There is a pause and then he blurts out, “Kelly, I’m fighting off the urge to kidnap you and make wild unbridled love to you. Should I?”
“Knock it off.” She says as she stares at the phone in disbelief.
“Do you think I’m kidding? We could fly anywhere you want to go. If you want to go to Paris, I could have the jet fired up and we would be there in a few short hours.”
“Seriously?” She acts shocked as she asks it.
“Yes.” He says as his voice sounds so smooth over the phone, and she can tell that he is not lying.
“Wow. I do need to have a talk with you in person.” She says hesitantly as she stares at the floor.
“You’re not going to tell me your married, are you? I don’t think I could handle that. I really like you.” He says while sounding a little sad.
“No, that’s not it. I just need to talk to you. When can I see you?”
“How about right now? I could be there in a few minutes to pick you up. Sound good?” He asks quietly as he waits for her answer.
“Yes, Samantha is here with the girls. See you then.” She replies softly as she looks at Samantha and gives her a thumbs up with a huge grin on her face from ear to ear.
“Good, I will be there in a few.” He says with a sound of finality right before he hangs up.
“Sis, are you going to tell him about Grayson?” Samantha asks softly because she doesn’t want to upset her.
“Yes, that is the plan. I want to see if we can be friends. He is a real nice guy. He needs a friend that isn’t out to get his money.” Kelly replies sweetly while she looks fondly out the window at Grayson’s house.
“What happens if he doesn’t just want to be friends?” Samantha asks seriously and looks like she is entirely too worried.
“Then I guess I will have to break it off because I still care for Grayson. After all, he may never talk to me again, but I must try.” She adds while she looks out the window and sees Julian driving up.
He pulls up in a black sports car, very stylish and expensive. When he climbs out of the car and walks up to the door, he stops and glances around the neighborhood before he rings the doorbell, and she opens the door. He smiles when she answers and asks thoughtfully, “Ready to go?”
“Yes, let’s go.” She says quickly when she waves goodbye to the girls.
As soon as they leave and walk to the car, he opens the car door for her and holds it while she sits down. “So gentlemanly.” She thinks to herself with a smile on her lips as he pulls out of the driveway.
“So, what’s going on?” He asks as he stops at the light and turns to look at her. When she doesn’t answer right away, he puts his hand on her leg and kisses her cheek before the light changes and he continues on.
“I’ve been in a relationship for a couple months with my neighbor. It was getting really serious until I got mad about something and screwed up.” She blurts out quickly.
“Don’t you mean when you stayed the night with me?” He asks while frowning with a furrowed brow.
“Yes, although I really enjoyed it. I just don’t know if I can be in a relationship right now other than a friendship.” She says absentmindedly as she looks out the window at the trees.
Back at home, Samantha runs over to Grayson’s. She hopes that she can get them back together. She knocks and he opens the door. “Hi, how are you, Samantha? Is Kelly alright? I watched a car pull in over there and then she left with some guy. Is that him?” He asks hesitantly.
“Yes, it is. She is going to tell him that she just wants to be friends. I really believe that the two of you should be together. She cares for you so much. Don’t let a little misunderstanding get in the way. Do you think you could ever forgive her? She really needs to know right now.” Samantha insists while she looks hurried.
“That is the thing, I don’t know if I can. I have never loved anyone so much as I love her. Right now, it hurts too much. I just need some time.”
“Well, I don’t know how much time you have. He’s a very handsome guy, like you. I’m afraid that her attraction to him might overpower her will. She might want to be just friends, but her body is going to want him.” Samantha says while she stands by the couch.
“Do you want to sit down?” He gestures towards it as he asks sweetly.
“No, I shouldn’t. If she knew I was over here right now telling you this, she would be upset with me.”
“Would she? Why?” He asks as he moves closer to her.
“Because she doesn’t want me interfering.”
“Come on, just sit down, and talk with me. I’ll get you some coffee or something.” He walks towards the kitchen. “I won’t settle for anything but yes.” He says insistently as he smiles at her.
“Alright, just give me one of those beers that you’re drinking.” She states as she follows him, sitting down at the table as he hands it to her.
After she takes a sip, she glances at him and asks curiously while trying to make conversation, “So it’s pretty quiet over here most of the time, isn’t it?”
“Yeah, it is. I bet your house is always full of surprises. When Carrie lived there, I used to come over a lot and talk.” He winks at her. “There were bumps in the night and things would move by themselves.” He tells her.
“Really, I thought Kelly was making up that stuff. She said that she saw a ghost a couple of times. A guy would come to her room while she was asleep and have sex with her. I thought she was making it up or going crazy.” She states while she drinks her beer happily.
“Maybe she had a vivid wet dream.” He says before he begins laughing.
