Chapter 73: Visiting Aaron

The next morning Samantha decides that she needs to have a talk with their friend Aaron. As she calls him to come over, she tells Kelly it's probably not so good that she is here. She then asks her if she didn't mind leaving for a couple hours. After all, she hasn't seen her kids in several days.

When Aaron shows up Samantha runs to the door. As she opens it, he grabs her and gives her a huge hug. She notices right away his hair is different. He must have cut it, it's quite a bit shorter then when she saw him last time.

It has been a year since she has seen him, but he still looks great and always looks handsome in a suit even with a five o' clock shadow. The scruff look makes him look hot, but she tries not to think of him that way anymore. The affair between Aaron and Kelly caused too much heartache and she doesn't want to rehash anything from the past.

"Hey you. I am so glad you could come. I need someone to talk to that might have some insight into my dreams."

"Sure, what's up? Anything for you Sam. You know I have always had a soft spot for you. That Ben was one lucky guy, and I want to express my deepest sadness for you."

"Well, Ben is part of it. I have been having the most bizarre dreams. We make love and he disappears. Then this last one he tells me he's dead and instead of going into the light he stays here with me so I wouldn't be alone. What the hell is going on?"

"To tell you the truth I think that your subconscious is just trying to work through the grief that you are experiencing. What you went through is traumatic enough and then you lost a child too. That is something I would never wish on anyone. I truly feel for you."

She looks at him and he leans over and gives her another bear hug. This time he doesn't let go he just holds her for a while. She starts to cry, and he rubs her back as she lets it all out.

"Thank you." She finally says and he lets her go. "Have you got yourself a girlfriend?"

He smirks and shakes his head, "Nope, just a few random one- nightstands. I was hoping they would amount to more, but they never measure up to Kelly. She is a very special woman."

"I need to tell you something. There is this younger man who wants to be with me, but I just can't bring myself to. I feel like I'm cheating on Ben because I keep feeling like he's always with me. I don't know what I should do."

He scratches the back of his neck and replies, "Well, I know it has only been a couple weeks since Ben passed on, but he would want you to go on. Specially if someone is really showing interest and could make you happy."

She gets up and walks back and forth. "I do really like him and feel a connection with him. I don't know why. I just do."

Aaron looks at her and starts to say something more, but then just settles for this. "O.k. I have to get going but I want to hear more if you do go on a date."

After walking him out she gets enough courage up to call Jonathan. He answers on the first ring, "I was wondering if you would ever call?" she could hear him breathing heavily on the other end.

"I finally got my head screwed on straight. I want to be friends with a possibility of more. Not at first mind you, but in the future. Do you think you can do that?"

"Yes, I want you in any capacity I can get." He says in a deep voice.

She starts to think of the two of them making love as she talks to him. It shocks her and she stops for a minute. He asks, "Are you still there?"

"Yes, sorry I was thinking of something, and I got off track."

He makes a loud swallowing sound, "Was it about the two of us?"

"Actually yes, I'm not going to lie to you. I wouldn't mind sleeping with you, but I can't bring myself to do it now. I haven't worked through everything I need to yet. I deeply loved my husband and my baby."

"I am so sorry. I had no idea. I wish I was there with you I would hold you. To be honest with you, there is something about you that makes me want to spend the rest of my life with you. I know that's too much information right now, but I mean every word of it. I want to make you mine someday, forever."

"Wow, I had no idea. I thought you just wanted to sleep with me. On that I had better let you go for now. My sister will be back any minute and then we are going out. I will call you in a couple days. Thank you."

As she hangs up Kelly walks in. "What was that about and who was on the phone?"

"Oh, that was Jonathan. I called him, and he just admitted to me that he wants to spend the rest of his life with me. That someday he's hoping we will be more then friends." she takes a deep breath. "Holy shit! That was unexpected."

"Damn girl, he's hot and he's dead serious about you. Who cares if he's just a pizza guy. The taxes are paid for ten years and trust me I have enough money to pay your taxes for the rest of our lives if need be. Plus, didn't you just get a big settlement from Ben's insurance? That should be enough to live off for the rest of your lives together. Neither one of you ever has to work."

"I know." She looks at the ground and sounds depressed.

"Look, if I were single, I would be hopping on him in a hot second." She laughs. "He absolutely has fallen in love with you. Don't let him get away."

Samantha smiles at that. "So where are we going tonight?"

"Put on your dancing shoes sis because we are going out to the club. I want to see you in some hot little number and shaking that bootie." Kelly laughs hard and almost spills the pop in her hand.

"Fine, only for a little bit though. Are we going to the place we took Aaron to that one time?"

"Hell yeah! Now let's go change quickly so we can have some fun." she giggles.

They both go in the bedroom and pick out some clothes. After changing Samantha looks at Kelly. Her short blonde hair looks good on her. The baby blue sweater she is wearing compliments the grey of her eyes, and the tight little black skirt she's got on accentuates her ass.

She looks in the mirror at herself, her hair is getting long, and she might have to get it cut so the blonde waves turn back into curls. Seeing that her eyes are really sparkling tonight because the turquoise low-cut top she has on seems to make them appear bigger than normal she smiles. As she looks down further, she sees her skin-tight green mini skirt just barely covers her. She smiles again and turns to Kelly.

"All ready?"

"Yep. Let's go." Kelly stops and says, "My, my. That skirt couldn't be any shorter, could it? I bet if Jonathan is there his hands could just grab a handful of yum, yum." She giggles and grabs her purse as they start to leave.

She just shakes her head as she must agree, but tonight is all about having fun and no complications. While Samantha drives to the club Kelly talks about her kiddos. "I have been missing them so much, thank you for suggesting going see them today. I forgot how much I love them all. So how was Aaron? Has he moved on?"

"Honestly, no he hasn't. He said he has had a few one-night stands, but no one ever compares to you. I think he's stuck and needs a shove in the right direction. I wish we knew someone who would give it to him. A good woman who would make him want to spend the rest of his life with her."

"I still feel really bad about that whole mess. I just couldn't keep leading him on. He is a wonderful man, but he isn't mine. When I met Joel, I could tell he was it for me. He saw right through me deep down into my soul. I love him more than anything in this world. My children are part of me, but he is my better half. Without him I am nothing, I am only a shell of a person."
