Chapter 12

As soon as Luca ended the call, he walked towards Lily. Lily couldn't see clearly anymore as her eyes were swollen. Everything was blurry and she was feeling severe pain in her head.

She wanted to give in but then she was fighting it for an unknown reason. Anthony had gone with his bodyguards, Chris and Liam to the location Lily was with the police right ahead of them.

He was worried and terrified of the situation his daughter could be in. He had promised her the world and now because of his carelessness, she had been kidnapped. There was no way that he wouldn't punish Chris. He had made up his mind to make sure Chris suffers for his incapability.

He had out Chris in charge of protecting his daughter and he had failed to do just that. Chris had followed because he was worried and wanted to see Lily. He was afraid of her condition and what they might be doing to her.

His eyes welled with tears but no tears dropped down. It was as if he was stopping them from rolling down but in reality none was coming out.

Liam prayed in his heart for the safety of Lily. He wanted her safe and sound and promised to protect her at all cost when she was successfully rescued.

Anthony's phone rang again and it was the same number. "What is it you want?" Anthony asked through the phone.

"You might want to reduce the tone you use while speaking to me considering you are the one at my mercy now." Luca said.

Anthony sighed, he was told to act naturally so as not to make Luca notice they were on the move with the police to his location.

"What is it you want?" He asked again, this time in a calmer tone.

Luca chuckled, "Now we are talking Anthony. I'm sure you do not know me but I know you very well. Oops! I mean you know me very well since you literally embarrassed me in front of many people and made me look incapable of handling the position I had." He said.

Anthony didn't know who the man was as had worked with a lot o people in the past. How could the man expect him to keep tracks of every useless people in his life. Anything apart from his daughter and his business were useless to him because had no time to think of it.

"Who are you?" Anthony asked.

Luca laughed out sarcastically. Luca could sense Anthony wasn't as scared as earlier and he didn't like it.

"It seems you are more relaxed now right?" Luca said. It wasn't that Anthony wasn't nervous as his daughter was in the arms of someone who he had an issue with in the past.

"Who are you?" Anthony asked again.

Luca didn't like Anthony's composure and that riled him up so he moved closer to an almost conscious Lily and hit her hard so that her father could hear the sound on the phone.

His eyes widened and his heart ached. "Bastard! Don't you dare touch my daughter with your stinky hands!" He shouted.

Luca laughed. "And what are you going to do when I do not listen?" He asked riling an already painted Anthony.

"You are at my mercy and I need to feel pain in you voice and I need you to beg for mercy! You literally think you can belittle and ridicule anyone and go free?" He scoffed.

"Never Anthony! You can't and you won't! Your crimes and sin will be paid off today." He spat out with venom laced on his tongue.

"Just who are you and what is it you want to let go of my daughter!" He shouted. The police were almost at the location where Luca and his men were.

Anthony couldn't wait for them to reach so he would strangle the man with his bare hands. He wasn't sure if he'd be able to look at his daughter or the injuries they had inflicted on her precious body.

He cried as he thought of her pains and how he had failed to protect her just as he had promised. He wasn't going to forgive who hurt her and he'd make sure Lucas pays for his crime in the most painful way.

"I am Lucas Lord." The man said firmly and sternly.

"Does that ring a bell?" He asked.

The name sounded familiar but Anthony couldn't remember who that belonged to. Luca scoffed, he couldn't believe Anthony had forgotten him so quickly.

"Are you taking it or you actually cannot remember who I am? Are you that proud? Is that irrelevant? You surely hate not remembering me!" He spat out.

He felt insulted. He was a very big man in the wine production industry but Anthony had forgotten him like he was a newbie.

"Your name sounds familiar but I do not remember you." Anthony said, trying to recollect where he had met a man like Luca before.

"Wow! Just wow! You amaze me a lot Mr Anthony! You are just like they say, proud and arrogant. You think you have arrived right then I will take the most precious thing in your life and that's your daughter." He seethed.

"Please don't!" Anthony shouted and pleaded. He could take anything but not the death of his daughter. Although they were close to the location, he knew it wouldn't take up to a minute to end someone's life and he wouldn't want to risk it.

"Please do not. What do you want? Take my life Instead. I will come to you to take my life but please spare my daughter." He pleaded.

Luca felt a sigh of relief hearing Anthony's offer. It was just what he wanted. To put Anthony in a situation where he would give up everything for his daughter.

"That's good. What I want is easy, while you come to the location I will send to you, come with a document containing the transfer of all your wealth to my name Lucas Lord and after concluding, I will let you and your daughter go."

"Bastard!" Liam muttered underneath his breath. Since the phone was on a loudspeaker, he could hear Lucas and Anthony's conversation. Liam knew who Lucas Lord was and in fact he had worked with Lucas Lord before.

Lucas had a very dirty record which was why his father had stopped working with him but considering Anthony didn't know him made Liam surprised.

"Fine." Anthony said once the Police cars stopped in front of a warehouse. They had turned off their siren so as not to get attention from the kidnappers.

"That's good. I will tell you the address now," Luca said.

Thinking he was victorious turned out to be the opposite as he called the address for Anthony, the Police entered the warehouse, surrounded by the men and Lucas.

"Hands in the air! The police are here. Anything you do or say would be used against you in the court of law." The policeman announced.

Lucas was shocked as he saw they were surrounded by police. Anthony and Liam entered the warehouse and his eyes widened in shock. He had not expected them to trail him and find him and all the while he was speaking on the phone to Anthony, they were on their way to him.

He got more angry as Anthony had outsmarted him again. Thinking he was ahead was wrong as Anthony seemed to have everything under control. He wished he had observed and calculated, maybe he wouldn't have been caught so easily.

The look on his face was priceless like he had been caught in a game he set up and he hated it.

His men all around him dropped their guns down as they raised their hands in the air. Anthony's eyes moved to his daughter and his heart clenched. She was battered and as he watched, she got more angry.

Not wanting to be caught up here and loose, Lucas moved towards Lily and pointed his gun at her head. "Come close and she will die. I won't back down now!" He shouted.

Taking a close look at Lucas' face, Anthony recognized him as the man whose company had stolen his idea and presented it before the investors but he had shamed the man and brought light to the case.

"You." Anthony said in realization. "What a pathetic bastard you are! I finally recognise you." He said.

"Finally. It seems you no longer have amnesia. That's not the issue right now because I won't lose to you twice. You think you are smart, right, acting good and ready to do what I want only for you to come with the police? You will lose your daughter right in front of you as I will kill her here and now." He declared.

"No no no! Don't do that. Please don't." Anthony pleaded. Looking at the state his daughter was agonizing to watch talkless of a man behind her with a gun pointing her head.

Lucas laughed hysterically. It gave him great joy seeing Anthony in pain. "I won't let her go. I do not mind dying but she dies with me. You made a very big mistake! A very terrible one by bringing the police here. You should have waited for me to tell you what to do! You should have followed my choices but no, you wanted to be the smart man you are and Involve the police and for that you will pay a very big price for it!" He spat out.

"I will kill her! I will kill her and I will kill you! I am Lucas lord and I won't lose easily. I am not a man to be defeated easily. I will take you down and make sure you regret it. You will regret life and you will regret ever belittling me!" He shouted.

"Drop your gun down! I repeat drop your gun down and follow us peacefully to the station." One of the police men announced through a megaphone.

"You think I care?" The man laughed out loud.

"I do not mind dying right now but I'm taking this man down and nothing's gonna stop me from doing so!" He shouted.

He raised his gun up and pulled the trigger as he shot in the air. Liam who had followed the other side sneakily made his way towards Lucas. He had told Anthony to distract Lucas while he snuck up on him.

While Luca complained and shouted, Liam took him from behind. He hit his hands making the fan fall on the ground and he kicked the gun far away.

He punched Lucas to his face and fell him to the ground. Anthony ran to where his daughter was and grabbed her before she could fall. "call the ambulance!" He shouted.

The policemen went towards Liam and Luca and caught him. He fought with them rigorously as they put the handcuffs on his hands.

"I won't let you!" He shouted.

Chris came into the scene and saw Lily looking unconscious and his beast broke. He caused all of this and there was no way he'd ever forgive himself. He had argued with her and had not followed her out which was why she got kidnapped.

He has one job and that was to protect her and he messed it up by having a situationship with her and now a situation he'd never be able to forget occured.

The policeman dragged Luca out and Liam carried Lily in his arms, rushing to put her in the ambulance.
