Chapter 13
It was official; There is nothing Lily would ever say to Chris that would make him believe her again. She proved to him that she was after him for sexual reasons. She was genuine about everything she spoke about yesterday.
Lily was furious. She felt so possessive of Chris at that moment that she hadn't realised the mistake she made.
"Bitch..." She pointed at Bella.
"Stay away from him and I do not ever want to see you speaking to him. You are nothing but a low bitch who wouldn't ever rise to fame no matter how hard you try. You are just a big fool if you think you are smart enough to outsmart me!" She spat out.
"You are unbelievable!" Chris said. He was pained and disappointed. She has proven to him what her main aim was and what she really wanted from him.
She showed him her real side and now he understood where Bella was coming from. He wondered about her offense and his offense.
Lily scoffed, "You are really one to talk!"
"I pay you, remember that and when..." She trailed off realising she was starting to go out of line. She face palmed herself mentally before groaning out loud.
"Fuck out of here!" She demanded harshly at Bella. Bella walked away with pain and anger in her heart for Lily.
She hated Lily and promised to take revenge on her. As soon as she was out, Lily bent down with her hands on her hair.
She takes her hair frustratingly, she had just realised what she had done and once again pushed Chris away. She didn't know what to say nor how to approach him. She let her jealousy get the best of her and ruined the little friendship she had struggled hard to get from him.
"I will take my leave now if you do not have anything for me to do now," he said and walked away.
She felt the urge to call him and speak to him but she couldn't. She knew she had lost whatever hope he had in their friendship forever.
"In terms of choice, we need to consider the factors governing them. One needs to know what it is the masses want." The PA of Mr Damien spoke.
She was standing in front of the board table while highlighting her points.
"The nature of product, potential market, the type of distribution strategy, the advertising objectives, the type of selling message, the budget available, competitive advertising and media availability."
After some minutes, the meeting was concluded and the board members left the board room. Liam stayed behind as he wanted to have a word with Mr Damien concerning Lily.
"Hello sir," he greeted once again, getting the attention of Mr Damien who was busy reading the presentation of his personal assistant.
He looked up at Liam and then he replied, "Hello Liam."
Liam is the sole heir to Franspartt International limited. A company that deals with buildings and reconstruction. His father is one of the most influential men in the world.
As soon as Liam graduated from the University, he joined in his father's business and has been doing well as he helped the company grow more than it was before.
Mr Damien ushered for Liam to sit down which he did. "I'm surprised you want to have a word with me. What is it?" He asked.
Liam cleared his throat. "Mr Damien, I'm sure you know I already met you daughter and..." He trailed off, reading the facial expression of Mr Damien.
It was hard to read Mr Damien, he always had a bland expression on his face making it hard for his opponent to figure him out. Liam was quite worried by the look of Mr Damien's face but the truth was, Mr Damien was glad in his heart.
He has been looking for suitors for Lily for a while now although he wouldn't rush her into marrying as he considered she was too young and innocent for anything yet but the harsh reality was he didn't know much about Lily.
To him Lily was a lot to handle in the sense that she would make people who work around her find her unbearable and was hardly pleased but she was intelligent and outstanding. She knew how to get things down half the time expected and do it well.
From a young age, she stood out amongst her friends and knew how to handle things quite well. But the truth was that she wasn't that all, behind him, she was a drinker, a clubber, a dancer, someone who loved the wild aspect of life
She was far from innocent but didn't know that. He thought she loved to go on adventures alone but he didn't know her definition of adventure was partying around.
"Go one, I'm listening," he said to Liam.
Liam Continued, "I really like her sir and would like your permission to court her," he said.
Mr Damien raised his brows slightly, not every man had enough courage to come to him and confess their feelings for his daughter. He loved it and it made him smile.
"Is that all?" He asked and Liam nodded his head.
"That's fine Liam. I give you my permission."
"Yes!" Liam exclaimed.
"But..." Liam's celebration was short lived as he waited for Mr Damien to complete his statement.
"Do not dare touch her or make her cry or make her feel bad or I swear I will hurt you twice as much." He deadpanned. His lips were pressed firmly together and his eyes weren't giving a sigh of joke. He meant every word he was saying and would hurt anyone who hurt his child.
"Okay sir. I promise, I will never hurt her."
"That being said. I give you my permission. You have my blessings. A man like you is what I consider good for Lily. I hope you won't disappoint me." Mr Damien said.
"Not at all sir. I will value this trust you have placed in me and show that you never regret ever giving me permission." Liam replied.
Lily lost all appetite to eat. It hurts so much. She regretted her actions and wished she had handled the situation better. She hasn't been able to look at Chris all day.
She sat down on her balcony, looking at the streets while Chris stood at a far end from her. Since he was her bodyguard he would have to stay near her to keep her safe.
She knew nothing she said to him would change his opinion about her. She felt foolish but resisted the urge to cry.
Her phone rang in her hands and she looked at the called ID. It had no name but she answered the call.
Chris was at alert once she heard her ask who the call was.
"Liam? Oh hi," she replied once Liam made it known to her he was the one calling.
"I'm fine Lily, how are you?" He asked.
"I'm fine. Thanks so much and you?" She replied.
Chris clenched his fist once he heard the name 'Liam'. All his thoughts and views were starting to come to pass. He knew she was too real to be true. She wouldn't have gone far with him and he would be the one to hurt just like every time.
He watched her with a frown on his face, unable to hide his dislike for Liam even though he didn't know him.
Chris listened to their conversation and with time it started to rile him up as the phone call took longer than expected. He didn't know what Liam was telling Lily but her laughter told him he was telling her jokes.
After what seemed like a whole day, Lily ended the call. She got up from her seat and went back to her room. "Stay there, I wanna get changed," she said to him. She wouldn't mind if he came to look at her but then again they weren't on good terms and he wasn't someone who would sneak up on someone.
"As if I would," he spat out.
Lily ignored his statement. She opened her closet, scanning through for the perfect outfit to wear so she could meet Liam. "Gosh!" She complained.
"I have no new outfits and now nothing seems captivating enough for me." One would think Lily was dressing to impress Liam but it was Lily's nature.
She loved changing her closet weekly and loved to always stand out no matter where she went. She always took her time to get dressed because she felt looking good enough makes you feel good and is a big confident boost.
She face palmed herself, used her hands to search through the closet yet nothing looked appealing to her. She would love to rush down the mall and do some shopping but Liam told her he was on his way.
Liam would be the second guy after Chris she has spoken to without disgust or anger after her ex. After her break up in high school, all she did was hook up, make out and when things were about to get out of hand, she'd end whatever it was that was going on.
She finally decided to settle down for a simple floral dress after minutes of contemplating. She took off her shorts and crop top and replaced them with the Flora dress.
Chris opened the door of the car for her to get in. After she got in, he went to the driver's seat and drove off. Neither of them said anything to one another.
While Chris was focused driving, Living watched him through the mirror. Today she expected their relationship to have gotten somewhere. After they called a truce last night, she thought of so many things they could do together and the so much fun they would have but now it was all in vain all thanks to her bad side taking effect more than her good side.
Some other time, she'd blame Bella but then again if she had controlled her jealousy, maybe then they wouldn't be in the state they are in.
After a while, Chris noticed Bella staring at him so he asked, "Why are you staring?" He asked.
She scoffed, folded her arms across her chest and looked away. After some seconds, she replied, "How do you know I'm staring and why would I stare at you?" She said with the thought of starting a conversation with him.
Chris replied not. She wouldn't ignore him at first and expect him to speak to her later.
"You do realise I am your boss and you must answer my question whenever I ask right?" Her brows raised up.
"With the attitude you give and the way you speak, it's impossible for me to forget I was hired by you."
Lily felt her heart clenched by his words but she put on a bright smile on her face instead. "Obviously. It's me and I can't change that about me. At least not someone who literally has the whole female body after him."
She hadn't realised what she said until Chris's statement. "You included, right?" He huffed.
Then it occurred to her that she was part of those ladies who wanted him. She decided to defend herself. "I am not." She said firmly, pressing her lips together.
He chuckled softly, "Really? You are not? Of course. Heiresses like you go for men of the same status as them, isn't that it? So tell me how rich is Liam? As rich as your dad or more?" His words felt insulting to her.
"You do not know anything!" She spat out.
"You don't know me and stop acting as if you do."
"Same for me. You do not know me so stop acting like it."
She laughed hysterically, "You know what? Even if I go for rich men like Liam, at least I have assurance that they won't see me as an intimidation to them. They won't think I am way above their level to be able to handle unlike someone I know who feels anyone richer than him or with a higher status is bad."
Chris held onto the steering wheel tightly. He knew what she meant and perhaps she was right. Maybe he was intimidated by her status and felt inferior to her but then again his past experience had a big impact on it.
"You know nothing at all. You know nothing so don't speak as if you do because it only makes you that 'spoilt princess'
