Chapter 19
Chris rested his head on the steering wheel as soon as Lily left. He knew whatever he said and did was very needed as it would worsen when it goes far.
Lily ran into her room, locked the door and fell on her bed crying. She wondered why it was so hard for her to be loved.
It aches so much that her headache at the same time and her stomach hurt too. She stifled her cries as she didn't want a time to know that she was in crying.
Dorothy was perplexed. She didn't know who to support or who she should believe between Stacy and Ariana. Before Stacy came to her house, Ariana had called to tell her all the bad things Stacy said about her.
While Stacy told Dorothy all that happened between her and Ariana, she was telling her the opposite of everything Ariana told her.
Their friendship started falling apart after Lily left the group. The flaws they had as a group began to be visible compared to before.
It was as if there was nothing unique about their friendship. All they've been saying over the years was they grew up and knew each other but reality was, they were more into the social aspect of life that their personal life had no value to them.
They were always roaming on the streets, going from one club to the other, dancing and having sex with random people.
Their life was broken but they didn't know it till the fall out. She wondered why and what made it happen.
She was left in-between as she had neither exchanged words with any of them. Compared to them, she was the most quiet one and the one who had a long relationship.
Stacy wondered why Dorothy was saying nothing. "What is wrong with you? I am telling you how stupid we've been over the years being friends with Ari and yet you are saying nothing at all like a confused puppy!"
Dorothy sighed, "I...I just don't know. I do not know what to say," she said truthfully. She was confused.
"We were so perfect before until some weeks ago and now we are like...I cannot take any of this Stacy. It's too much to take in. We were like the dream friends of anyone and suddenly we were in each other's guts. Tell me how did it all happen and why now?" Dorothy paced around as she raked her fingers through her hair.
"Ari is the problem! Ari ruined it all. I mean I've seen all the traits in her yet I turned blind eyes. I'm sure you see it too but you are just so scared of losing the friendship but guess what? This friendship is dead."
"Lily didn't make an effort to speak to us and now I understand why. She realised the relationship we had wasn't sincere, it was one sided. We were never interested in our personal lives other than flaunting our wealth, partying and sleeping around. We didn't get to know each other's likes or dislikes and we rarely paid attention to even ourselves."
Stacy's voice lowered every second she spoke. She was starting to realise too late but she hoped to save her friendship with Lily and Dorothy.
She knew she hurt Lily that day in her mansion and she knew she wouldn't be able to take those words back but she will try and make amends.
Dorothy understood everything Stacy was saying but unlike them, it was hard for her to easily move in from things.
She was still not over her ex. She wanted him and if he had come to apologise to her for what he did, she might have given in and forgave him.
For the past few weeks, she's been sleeping around with random men yet nothing. It felt nothing like the sex she had with her Ex. He knew how to make her cum without trying much. He knew her weak button and soft spot and he cared for her whenever they had their bed session.
She wondered why he cheated, she wondered why he gave up on their love so easily and why it was easy for him to move on. She couldn't unravel the mystery behind it all or where she went wrong.
She would cry at night and use make up to cover her pain in the morning. She knew they had an issue once but they settled it and moved on and suddenly he was done with her. He made no effort to explain to her the reason behind his actions and made her cry.
"I do not know...know what to say Stacy. I'm so confused! Everything is suddenly falling apart and I do not know where to stand in this matter or what to say at all. I'm having too much in my head right now and it aches."
Stacy sighed. She placed her hands-on her hips as she stared at Dorothy in disbelief. She did try her best to help them start afresh but it seems Dorothy was reluctant. None of them made an attempt to ask Dorothy how her life was after her breakup. All they did was make her drink and told her to have more sex with stranger.
Stacy knew as a good friend, they needed to talk about it. To ask her how she was handling it but they didn't so she decided to ask her.
"Are you still hurt?" Stacy asked. Her voice was low as if she was whispering but Dorothy heard her perfectly. Her voice was laced with concern.
Dorothy got her heart sank. For the first time, someone asked her a question concerning herself.
"Speak to me Dee. I'm here for you. I'm so sorry I didn't seem to realise earlier and I was foolish enough to see that you are still hurt. How are you coping?"
Dorothy's eyes gleamed with tears, she was finally letting the tears she held back for so long stream down her cheek. It hurts too much.
She needn't say much for Stacy to understand how hard it was for her to cope. She moved towards her friend and engulfed her in a tight hug while patting her bag.
Dorothy sniffed as she let the tears roll down her cheek. "It's okay, cry out. You can scream. It's okay to be hurt. It's okay to get your heart broken but then what's not okay is not trying to mend it. Let it out, I'm here for you," she said to her friend.
Her voice was consoling enough. Dorothy cried as she snorted on Stacy's clothes. Stacy didn't mind it at all, all she cared about was her friend's peace of mind.
She realised where they've been lagging behind and looked forward to starting afresh.
"It hurts Stacy." Dorothy said a word after a while.
"I still want him. I...I..." She sniffed. "I still love him. He was caring and suddenly he cheated....and...and..." She cried out loud.
Stacy kept running her back softly, whispering words of consolation to her friend.
"It's gonna be fine. You will be fine. I promise you I am here for you and I will help you get over him."
"He didn't come back to explain. He...he didn't make an effort to explain. In Fact he doesn't care about me and is happily in a new relationship." She cried out.
"I'm so sorry to hear that Dee. You deserve better. We all do." Stacy let the tears she was holding for to long roll down her cheek.
For years she's been hurting. Her father was her worst nightmare. He would molest her at night and give her to his business partners to have their shares so they would sign the contract with him.
Having random sex and drinking around was the way to help forget the terrible moments and traumatic experience in her life but she had come to realise, it doesn't work.
After some hours of forgetting your problem, you eventually remember them once you are sober. She didn't want to tell Dorothy just yet as Dorothy had her own problem to deal with.
Stacy hurt her by using those words against her. Stacy was someone she would never forgive or get involved with ever again. Stacy always had something against them, she was the Regina of their time.
After a while, Dorothy calmed down. She and Stacy spoke and they decided to make amends with Lily. Stacy was worried Lily wouldn't want anything to do with them but Dorothy told her to give it a try.
Dorothy tried bringing Ariana to the talk and Stacy changed it immediately. She wasn't ready to face Ariana and Ariana wasn't someone to easily change. Ariana wouldn't change, instead she would hurt them more.
They both got prepared and headed to Lily's place.
Lily had not gotten out of her room after her talk with Chris. She was afraid to face him after he broke her heart and made it clear to her that they would never have anything to do with each other.
A knock on the door got her attention. "Who is that?" She asked.
"Mam Lily it's me. Your friends are in the living room waiting for you," Lola, her maid announced.
Friends? Lily wondered. The last time she checked, she had no friends. "Who are they? Lily wanted to know who they were before she went to them.
"Mam Stacy and Dorothy," Lola said to her.
Lily furrowed her brows. She wondered what they had come to do at her house and why they were here. She wondered if they had gotten into some sort of trouble which must be why they are suddenly looking for her after calling her names and using words against her.
"Tell them to leave. I do not want to see them," Lily demanded.
Just as Lola was about to reply to her, Stacy and Dorothy told her to leave. They opened Lily's door without her permission. "I told them to leave!" She exclaimed getting up from her bed only for her to see Stacy and Dorothy.
She frowned. The skin between her brows creased as she folded her arms across her chest. Stacy noticed that Lily might have been crying as her eyes were slightly swollen and her eyes were red.
"Hi," Dorothy said in a whisper, forcing a smile on her face.
Lily scoffed. Before she spoke, Stacy interrupted. "Before you say anything, listen to what we have to say first." Stacy said.
"Really? I should listen to you guys? I mean I don't want you guys to speak to me, talk less of spending a minute with either of you. Where is your ring leader? Is she downstairs or what?" Lily asked.
"Lily Listen first to what we have to say. We come in peace," Dorothy said to Lily.
Lily laughed hysterically. "Do you really care in peace? Tell me more. Because the last time I checked, you all slut shamed me and where is the bitch of all bitch!" She exclaimed.
"She really is the bitch if all bitch! No caps," Stacy added, making Lily wonder.
"Wow. I see. You guys fought and you came to me as a means of hope or what? Enlighten me more. I'm so curious to know what happened."
"Stacy, we are truly sorry. We have wronged you and we realised we chose wrongly. We didn't stand up for you when Ariana said hurtful words to you, instead we added fuel to the fire and walked away leaving you hurt." Stacy said.
"Wow! I'm stunned. What the hell happened to Stacy? Who are you? What have you done to Stacy because this girl in front of me is So sensible to be Stacy."
Although it wasn't funny, Stacy laughed. " I know right. I am not as sensible as I should be and I have only come to realise at the wrong time."
Lily could tell something had happened for Stacy to actually not retaliate after her statement.
"Lily we are so sorry and most especially me. I said hurtful words to you that day and I sincerely regret it. I shouldn't have."
Lily sighed, "What happened? What is wrong?" Lily asked.
"Ariana is a bitch! She literally has been a bitch from the start but neither of us accepted it or were too blind to see it." Stacy said.
"Wow. I'm speechless." Lily said as she folded her arms underneath her breast.
"What happened?" Lily asked.
"She proved that she wasn't worth it at all. She showed that she doesn't consider us as friends as we considered her and she also used every one of our secrets against us. I realise we as friends didn't work on ourselves. We didn't know much about one another and we were all too focused on getting rid of our pains than understanding them."
Lily knew something deep must have happened and she refused to press them into telling her what happened.
"I am sorry. I would like for us to start afresh again as friends and fix the places where we left open." Stacy said.
"But first, I would appreciate to hear you say that you forgive me and are willing to give our friendship a try." As much as Long waited to tell her she had forgiven her, she wanted to know what really happened in her absence.
"I will only forgive you, if I know what actually happened between you guys and Ariana." She said to them.
Stacy began to tell her the whole incident from the club to her argument with Stacy and how realisation dawned on her that Stacy was a selfish person who cared more about herself than anyone else.
She explained to Lily and Dorothy spoke about her relationship and broken heart. Stacy finally confessed and told them about her father's molestation.
"OMG! That's terrible. Why didn't you tell us?" Lily and Dorothy said together. Both of them are shocked by what they've just heard. They couldn't believe she was going through so much but all they cared about was their social life.
"I'm so sorry," Lily whispered.
"I'm so sorry Stacy. Ariana is a bitch for using that against you," Dorothy said.
Stacy wiped the tears that rolled down her cheek from her eyes as she sniffled. "It's all fine. I'm gonna get over it. For the past few days I've not been home because I do not want him touching me anymore. It's disgusting!" She spat out.
Lily and Dorothy cringed. "We won't let it get away with this." Lily said.
"We have to do something Stacy," Dorothy said.
"No!" Lily exclaimed.
"You guys won't do anything. You can't," she pleased as she shook her head.
"Why? He is hurting you, you are saving him?" Lily was baffled.
"That's not Lily," she snorted. "It's about me. When the media knows about this, what about me? My reputation, my name will be all over everywhere and I wouldn't be able to take all the attention I will be getting from the media for it," she cried.
